I came here for just an eyebrow shaping and wax; I also had brought my MIL for her lip and chin. This was my first time waxing my eyebrows. It was so painless easy and she did a great job shaping my eyebrows that hadn't been touched in I dare say a full year! i normally do threading but this was so nice. This is my second wax from Shelagh and let me tell you, she's got an incredible business. I have very coarse, thick hair and sensitive skin, which is a recipe for disaster with waxing. I've suffered from folliculitis and deep painful ingrowns from every other waxing salon (at least 10-15 salons) I've been to. I went to a dermatologist and he told me I should just give up on waxing and start using a trimmer instead. But y'all this is California, not North Dakota... I can't be out here tanning my hairy cheeks all spring and summer! Once my folliculitis healed, I decided to throw a hail mary to Shelagh off a recommendation from my friend, and so far I have had ZERO ingrowns, no folliculitis bumps, no rashes, nothing. Her aftercare suggestions (which for me was no extra exfoliation, no extra moisturizing, and using witch hazel), impeccable skill, and choice of wax formula have turned out to be the holy trinity of brazilian waxing for my body. Not to mention, she gets all the hair - my hair extends pretty far on my bikini line and happy trail and she takes care of this at no extra cost. I'm so satisfied with my waxes from her. AMAZING... Shelagh is FANTASTIC... Brazilian wax done in 15 mins... I go in every 3 weeks instead of every 4, only because she uses strip wax instead of hard wax down there. I've had both, and prefer hard wax, however her technique in strip wax is bar none to anyone else out there. And I've been to my fair share of waxing salons in Ventura. I also am super grateful that I utilize her cell for making appointments, any time I've been in a pinch and needed work done quickly, she has always gotten in touch with me, in 24 hrs or sooner. Never had an issue with trying to reach her. She is ALSO just a really fun lady to connect with, while she's down in the va jay jay region, I feel really relaxed and comfortable, and lets face it, when receiving a Brazilian Wax its important to feel safe and comfortable. I came across this salon through passing and decided to hop on yelp and read the reviews. There were nothing but positive comments/experiences on this salon so I decided to give it a try. A year ago I had a horrible Brazilian wax experience at a well known salon (even after doing my research) and was left with some trauma and fear of ever getting a Brazilian done. Well let's just say I'm giving this salon a 5 stars for a reason. The experience was quick, (yes there was still pain) but a reasonable amount and Shelaigh was very accommodating and patient. After a slue of bad experiences getting a Brazilian Wax at other salons in Ventura, I've found the place I will be going for all my body hair removal needs. As if the price of $42 wasn't good enough, I found on Yelp a voucher for the 42$ for $30 and I just figured that if it wasn't a great experience at least I wasn't getting the short end of the stick. The facility was clean, neat, warm and welcoming without any air of pretentiousness at all. I filled out a quick client information sheet which added to the feel of professionalism to my experience. Sheila was fantastic. Very sweet, very comfortable and very professional, she is obviously proficient in her trade. I had explained to her that I have had some bad experiences and why and she was able to cater to my needs and fears without making me feel like I was silly. She did a wonderful job and offered to do any touch ups if I went home and found that I needed any (I don't!) the product she used seemed to be of high quality and got the job fully done. Never shaving again!!! I've been shaving my bikini area for over 15 years. I'm pregnant and got to the point where I just could not shave anymore. I've always wanted to get a Brazilian wax but was too chicken to try it. I finally did it 5 weeks ago and I'll never go back! I looked up reviews on yelp to try to find someone to go to. Many people mentioned that coming here meant a comfortable environment and less painful than other places. Man were they right!!! When you walk in, Shelagh is friendly and makes you feel welcomed. I asked her questions when I made the appointment and when I came here. She was willing to listen and answer anything I asked. I was nervous because I had heard that being pregnant meant everything was more sensitive. I even read to try a regular bikini wax before doing a Brazilian. I decided to just go for it and get it all removed. Shelagh was completely professional and very clean. She starting talking to me, getting to know me, all while waxing the hair off. She started by doing the back area first and told me why she was doing what she was doing. When it got to the front part she made sure to hold the skin tight even after removing the hair. I've felt more pain getting my eyebrows wax than when she waxed my most sensitive area! Yeah, there is that one sensitive part (where all hair meets) that made me flinch more than normal and hurt more than anything else, but I was able to have a regular conversation without even blinking. I was proud of myself! She even asked me if I was okay and told me I was doing very well. I came back 5 weeks later to get it done again. I want to say that maybe half or so of my hair grew back and what did grow back was thinner. From now on I'm only getting my brazilians done through her! P.S. You get a free eyebrow wax for your first visit. She did my eyebrows and Brazilian in less than 25 minutes! read more
