This place went above and beyond to create my perfect superhero batman cake, I told the owner exactly what I wanted, she had suggestions like making one tier chocolate and the second tier vanilla, when I did not have a decision she gave her advice without being pushy, price was below any other bakery I had gone to for my custom cake which I know does cost extra since its considered a specialty cake. I will definitely come back here in July to order another specialty cake and will post pictures to update. Awesome little spot Found on Yelp, thank you Yelp! They have a retail supply side and a bakery side. My birthday was in November and I had my daughter the week of, so we didnt celebrate. We recently had some amazing events happen such as opening a business, attaining hard earned licensing and getting married, all of which happened in 3 months and we didnt really celebrate, so we decided tonight we needed a birthday/congrats celebratory cake. I walked in and met Aracely. She was warm and welcoming. Made sure her customers in the retail shop had someone to take care of them and took me to the bakery. Took my order, which was very generic, I said I want it to taste good, I like vanilla, whipped topping, raspberry, white chocolate and the soft sprinkles (vs the round hard ones) she said she would bake me a fresh cake, this was at 4:45pm on a Friday, and that I could pick it up anytime before 8pm. I'm so incredibly happy with how my fall baby shower cupcakes turned out! Araceli is very talented and professional. She designed them exactly the way I wanted them. Everyone at my baby shower fell in love with these cupcakes, they were all gone within the first 30 minutes!! Also, I ordered 24 and she threw in 6 for free that showcased other flavors she offers. Her price was totally affordable and she over exceeded my expectations. I recommend that if you're looking for amazing baked goods at a reasonable price to come here. They failed to deliver my daughters wedding cake on her wedding day. The next day when I called them they gave a lengthy explanation but eventually admitted it was their mistake. They promptly refunded my money and asked me if I wanted the cake anyway since it was ready. My daughter absolutely wanted the cake that we had ordered (grooms cake and wedding cake) even though it would not make up for not having a cake to cut on their wedding day. They brought one of the cakes and told me I "should've called them" when our cake hadn't shown up at the wedding. Turns out the venue did, multiple times with no answer. They also said that since they refunded my money in full they did not think I wanted both cakes still so they only brought one. Mind blown that a company could mess up so badly and then try to make the customer feel somewhat at fault. I am only putting 1 star because you can't put zero. read more

I ordered a cake over the phone to be delivered to a restaurant in Encinitas. The ordering process was extremely easy and the owner took me through every step of the process to ensure we had the order right - which I really appreciated since the cake was for a special occasion (a 40th anniversary). It was delivered exactly to the restaurant so I didn't have to worry about it, and everyone commented not only on how pretty the cake was but also how delicious it was! Got a cake for my son's birthday last year.... tasty and well made. So I ordered another cake this past week for this weekend. Cake was terrible 60$ for a burnt dry crappy cake. Not sure if they changed ownership but quality dropped off and I'm bummed that we now need to look for another small mom and pop type place for our baking/bakery needs. Set in an obscure shopping center, I didn't think at first I was at the right place, but there it was. They have a large offering of bite-size Mexican cookies, sold both individually and in packages. and some variations of traditional pan dulce. I was interested in tasting the empanadas, and took one each of the 4 varieties being offered (pineapple, Bavarian cream, apple, and blueberry) and a flat large pink looking one (Bavarian cream). There was not textural variety in the pastry dough and sadly, all my empanadas were still a bit undercooked. I think the intention for the pink empanada was for it to be light airy layers of flaky pastry, but it ended up flat and not impressive. read more

I contacted Araceli after seeing the batman cake on yelp and told her I would like a similar size cake, 2 tier with fondant just a different design and I asked how much it would be she quoted $150 which I though was a little high but was happy she said she could do it after I had text her pictures of the idea I had for the cake. I told her I would come in to go over the design with her in person. I arrive and I walk In and she is pretty unpleasant and as I go over the design she starts to complain the design is to detailed and it would cost more so then I tried to simplify my design more than a few times and each time she explained as a designer I don't know how difficult some of the stuff I wanted was and yet it was more simple than the batman cake. I compromised my entire design to try an accommodate her and yet she only cared about the $$$. She had horrible attitude and horrible customer service, I even had my son who's 5th birthday it was for with me and nothing in her spirit was excitement or positive towards the process. I have had some extremely Complicated cakes designed for my Kids birthdays and this was by far the easiest of them, yet most expensive quote I have ever had.... Save your money and shop around. This lady is not the business and she won't get my business. I wanted a simple 2 tier cake with the top layer yellow fondant Lego head with black eyes and a mouth and the bottom tier to be green fondant with one row of Lego's going around with a number 5 on top and the same writing as the batman cake that said happy birthday.. I guess that was so Complicated you had to keep adding dollar signs yet this was the simplified version of what I sent you that you quoted for 150. read more

$800 dollars for a 5 tier cake! Very simple and yet they managed to drop it upon delivery they said that they were going to reimburse us, it never happened. They criticized and said that because of our negative vibes the cake fell. First of all we are the customer and we didn't carry the cake!!!! Second of all what kind of customer service is this. I believe in small businesses but I will definitely will not be returning nor do I believe others should. The cake only had natural roses on the top tier the rest was white. Absolutely Amazing! Our daughter's 1st birthday party was four days away and I forgot to order a cake! I called Dulce Bakery last minute and Araceli immediately excepted my order, no hesitations. I needed a glamorous cake decorated as enchanted fairy garden theme. I requested a fondant two tier 8"chocolate mouse/strawberry and 6"strawberry filling with all white cake to feed 75 people. I too needed a 4" smash cake with picture provided as example. I needed colors and detail to pop. Party started at eleven am and Dulce had both cakes refrigerated ready for pick up at 9:30. They too offer delivery to local residents for a small fee of $15.00. Everything from customer service, promptness on text messages and calls were amazing! Both cakes were absolutely incredible! We had everyone complimenting on the texture of the cake as well as both fillings. Araceli nailed both cakes to the "T". Araceli added a beautiful fairy to put the final touch on the cake. I couldn't have asked for a better bakery! I will definitely continue using this bakery for all future parties. Thank you Dulce so much!! You made everything come together perfectly!! read more

We had a horrible experience. We bought a $70 cake for our son's birthday. We asked for a Nacho Libre picture on it. They did a beautiful job putting a screen silk picture of Nacho Libre on top of the cake. But when we went to cut into the cake, it was so dry and burnt. No one could eat it! We took the cake back to the bakery right after the birthday party. They said that the cake looked fine to them, and didn't even offer an apology or anything! We were not looking for a refund or anything like that, but they basically told us that there was nothing wrong with the cake. What a shame! We were so disappointed. read more
