I'm reaching out as last week I purchased 2 slices of cakes for family to celebrate a birthday. Red velvet and old fashioned chocolate cake from your store. Instructions were to leave out on counter for several hours until ready to enjoy. I have enjoyed Susie Cakes on several occasions and we love your chocolate chip cookies :) So, I thought it was a little odd to leave the slices out; but followed the recommendation before we were to eat them that evening. These slices were not enjoyable cake with yummy frosting; instead it was melted goey, separated frosting that was not enjoyable to eat. It was not a feast for the eyes either as the frosting just didn't seem connected to the cake. I understand that this is not a big thing; no crying over cake - but this was supposed to be a special treat, birthday no less and frankly, we paid premium pricing for the treat. I've looked online, and this does seem to be the recommended method to enjoy ( leaving the cake out to be room temperature) but we found it far below your company's standards and thought I would provide feedback. read more

I'm old enough to remember making cakes and cookies from scratch with my mother as a child. We would use fresh eggs, real butter, sugar, vanilla extract, semi-sweet chocolate chips etc. Nothing artificial, nothing created in a laboratory. Everything was so delicious back then. Fast forward to today, where every baked item available at every major retailer pretty much always has cheap, artificial ingredients and preservatives and tastes yucky. Thank heaven for Susie cakes! Everything is made fresh daily, using the same ingredients my mom used to use back in the day. Toll House cookies taste exactly like the ones my mom used to make from the back of the bag of nestlé chips. 100% exactly, if not slightly better because they make them slightly crispy at the edges and so delicious. I've also tried many of their layer cakes because thankfully they sell most of them by the slice. I really like every cake I've tried, but my favorites are the marble cake and the chocolate cake and the banana chocolate chip. I'm not a huge fan of red velvet, but I've tried Susie's and it's the best I've ever had hands down. To be honest, I'm not a huge cupcake fan, but I've also tried a number of their cupcakes and they are also the best I've ever had anywhere. This place also makes custom cakes for special occasions, weddings etc. I've tried pretty much every independent bakery in Southern California and this is definitely my favorite, try it! read more

Oh my goodness, this place is NO JOKE. I've heard of SusieCakes for a long time, so hubs and I finally went in. I didn't realize you could by slices of cake (duh, me, right?). I thought it was just whole cakes, cupcakes (I'm not into) or cookies/bars. We tried the Coconut Pineapple Cake (1 slice, which was pretty huge!) as well as the Lemon Cake. Both were to die for! The flavors burst in your mouth and the frosting was perfectly done. My husband doesn't like it too sugary, but these were just right. The Lemon cake was so zesty (I love this) and the frosting complimented it perfectly. I love the demerara (I think it was) sugar that was sprinkled all over the top - it had this little crunch that was surprising and so delish! Then we grabbed the 7-Layer Bar since it was the last day they'd have it for a while. OH MY ... amazing. We'll go here much more often now that I know how wonderful their sweets are. Delicious! Very sweet though as others have said. I loved the chocolate cupcake with chocolate frosting (I'm not even a big chocolate person) and also the strawberry lemonade flavor was incredible! I am so glad this is nearby. My only critique would be that I wish they had more gluten free options. I was told on the phone they only have one gluten free cupcake which is chocolate and they said tastes more like a brownie? I think they can do better than that. I try to avoid visiting their locations due to the high calories but they've made it so simple that DoorDash even delivers -needless to say, I've got a good muffin top because their cakes are so worth the calories! Large chocolate chip cookie - this cookie had the right crispiness on the outer part and slight softness in the inside. Summer Berry Cake - love the whipped frosting that went so well with the yumminess inside of the cake. The berries and the vanilla pudding was a nice taste of summer. It wasn't overpowered with sweetness. Very refreshing cake. I wish they sold that by the slice. Marble Cake - very delicious with the chocolate chunk bites, surprise within the cake!
