I stumbled across this place and it has so much potential. Service was wonderful. The food just needs a bit more seasoning but it definitely has potential. You get more than enough food for your buck. I ordered the skillet combo. The steak in it was more like an Italian beef definitely not a good grade of meat. If the owner wants more the 3 stars I suggest they hire people with better service. I Walked in and I didn't get greeted. I met with my niece there and sat at our table ready to order and it took about 5-7 minutes for waitress to come. Mayer Lima or Mayerlene (not quite sure of her name spelling) came to our table with a low energy and looked like she just wasn't happy with her life. I am a happy person and i give people the benefit of the doubt. Perhaps she was like that bc she was the only one serving and I don't blame her but one has to fake it to make it. Or the owner needs to find more servers for a place that has more then 6 tables. The food was really good and my café de olla was delicious. Hence my 3 stars only bc of the food and cafe. My son keeps telling me there is good food outside the loop. He brought me to this wonderful neighborhood place. When you walk in you are struck by the charm and the color pink. It's a Latina small business that's growing. A great success story. The staff is friendly but English is a second language. Be patient as they do want to help you. If you're a latte person or whipped cream fan you'll be on a sugar high. I got a caramel latte and it was delicious. The chocolate fudge and nut rim were a nice touch. I have been a loyal customer for years, however, I have never had an experience like this one. I went to Dulce Mami on 49th yesterday (7/23) because my boyfriend and I wanted to buy a brownie and cookie because we love them ever since we tried them at their North Riverside location. However, after paying $7.74 for both and leaving a $1 tip on the receipt paper they asked me to sign, I woke up to an updated charge from my bank for the transaction. Instead of the 2 workers on shift changing the amount from $7.74 to $8.74 to reflect their tip, I was charged $10.74. This is extremely disappointing and I have never had this happen to me anywhere or at any cafe I have gone to. So for it to happen to a long-time cafe that I love, is extremely frustrating and upsetting. Although it may be just $3, it's still not a justification for the tip amount I left to be increased and my total to be $10.74. I love the food, love the drinks, love the ambiance and desserts. However, I think I'm going to be taking a step back from going to Dulce Mami overall after this. read more

Dulce Mami 5612 W 35th location This place is a very cute and appealing restaurant. As soon as you walk up to it you have a choice of sitting outside or inside (depending on weather). It's has a very warm and cozy atmosphere. You can hear Gerardo Ortiz playing on the speaker and gives you the warm grandma/mom cooking in the kitchen vibes. The Ladies here are very sweet and ran to me to seat me. Reminds me of my grandma's house where I was the favorite. I ordered the Chilaqueles verdes con huevos y carne. The chilaqueles were amazing and had the perfect texture everywhere. You had parts that were crispy, semi-soft, and soft due to the savory sauce bath. The heat was at a 5-6 from 1-10. Just enough to do the trick! The plating of it was amazing as well. They drizzled the sour cream all over and not just a glob of it in the middle. Sprinkled fresh cheese all over it and just enough so you can taste everything else. The eggs were next to the perfect and not over cooked or flavorless. Creamy egg yolk that blends well with the salsa verde. It also came with bread that was buttered and toasted on the grill and you can taste it. They even cut it into a shape of a heart. I will say portion size is a amount for the price, but lacks in quality. Latte I want to say it's just warm Chocolate milk. No taste of coffee and a few ice cubes. Fruit oatmeal should be advertised as oatmeal with a hint of fruit. It took about 10 minutes to get oatmeal and milk. Overall unsatisfied. I was so excited to support a small business, but this place was not it. I tried not to be upset when my friend and I were not even greeted when we came in. We were just instructed to take a seat wherever. Okay, fine - we went ahead and did just that. The waitress kept pressuring us to order even though we were visibly going through the menu. Once we got the food it was okay nothing special. The waitress reached over my food multiple times nearly touching it with her bracelet/wrist. No apologies, no excuse me's, nothing. Cool. I didn't like the mole chilaquiles and asked to please get ranchero chilaquiles instead. The waiter was very rude. When my new dish was brought to me, we were all later ignored by the waiter. We had to repeatedly ask for a to go box. My friend asked for the free refill of her coffee and was completely ignored. My lady and I visited this place. Overall was a great experience. Menu wasn't too much. Just the right amount of options. A bunch of sweet women preparing the food who seem to love their jobs. You can tell they put love in their work with lots of experience. Not a very loud atmosphere good place to do some work or have a conversation with your significant other. This was a great breakfast place. The food was very good and many different coffees to choose from. This reminds me of the Sugar Factory based on the different beverages they offer and colorful visualizations presented. Portions are spot on and they have various breakfast foods to choose. We chose the Chilaquiles with chicken. Now, if you like spicy food, you may just feel enough heat, however if your not used to spicey food, make sure you go easy on the sauce. The food is prepped freshly, which you can tell and see because the kitchen is literally viewable. I thought that was cool. You can definitely see the work that goes into every dish and enjoyment of the cooks prepping your meal. Service was attentative and friendly. I would give this place a 4 star review, however they do have poor ventilation.. which means you have this wonderful smell of sauces, meats, coffee, etc... and the dreaded smoke. My eyes began to get a bit watery after a while due to no ventilation. You clothes will get a bit smokey, but overall... I will definitely come back for a morning bite. read more

First impression as I walked in, the decor was lovely! But that wasn't enough to ignore the horrible smell of burning grease. I didn't see an exhaust so not sure if they even have one? The menu was ok, nothing different really. They didn't have many options. Crepes, waffles, and panini's that it. They did have a wide range of drinks though. It also seemed like the regulars ordered things that were not on the menu,which left me wondering why the items weren't on the menu. I had 2 people take my order, at this point I was a little upset because we had been waiting a while. I asked for water and my dad asked for a coffee which we didn't get until after our meals came. My water came way after my meal. Water should be the first thing brought out to you. My meal came half way through my dad finishing up his. I looked around and it seemed like that was the case for more tables. One person had food while the other didn't. Over all the service was friendly, food was ok, but I ran out of there with tearing eyes because the smell of cooking grease was truly overwhelming.
