Came here on a recommendation from a friend. I was craving chilaquiles after being in Chicago for over a week for work. OMG! Best recommendation ever! The cafe de olla brought a tear to my eye, it was so good. The chilaquiles tasted better than my homemade ones. The beans actually had flavor! If I'm ever back in Chicago again, this is a must stop!!

The food was INCREDIBLE AND DELICIOUS with immense flavor cooked with pride and love and I want to give it 5 stars but can not due to the HORRIFIC service from the waitress and what I ALMOST CHOKED ON. SHE was inattentive in every aspect of the service industry. Guacamole and chips were brought out AFTER our meals many minutes later and she didn't come around to ask for refills, she didn't come around to ask how everything was and we had no choice to ask multiple servers at different times for different items. We arrived 32 minutes AFTER they opened so it wasn't crowded and they had these classless air conditioner units in the front and back and of course we were sat directly in front of one so we had to speak louder which made our first time an unpleasant experience. We will NEVER go to this location ever but we're excited to go to the location on Randolph.

I LOVEEE me some chilaquiles!! Team salsa verde all the way. My friend recommended this place so we grabbed some Mexican breakfast after night shift. The menu is huge! Tons of options for everyone. We came for one thing though - their chilaquiles. We ordered the chilaquiles verde with steak and eggs. Portions are huge so I left here stuffed. Everything tasted great! They serve cecina, which is more of a thin steak compared to a thicker cut. I would come here again! They have multiple locations too.

La Catedral has amazing Mexican food. There is always a wait time because it's that good. I had enchiladas en salsa verde with chicken and it was very fresh and tasty. I also got a jugo natural and that was refreshing. My family got the chilaquiles divorciados which was spicy and a generous portion. I would love to visit again the next time I am in Chicago.

I love chilaquiles and when my friend requested to go somewhere with the best chilaquiles I remembered being recommended to la Catedral. We knew we might have to wait so we drove there at 1pm. Luckily we got a table right away. We both got chilaquiles divorciados although they have a myriad of styles. I got chilaquiles rojos and verdes and they were the right amount of spicy. The tortillas were still crispy which is a huge plus because some places give you soggy chilaquiles. I would come back just to try their chilaquiles con mole!!! I really wanted to try those but now I have an excuse to come back. Their coffee is good too. I got cafe de olla but it has too much cinamon.

This little gem is absolutely amazing and I was blown away by the varieties of chilaquiles they had. I tried the pasilla chilaquiles and they were absolutely delicious. Service was good and the ambiance was very nice, it's kinda felt I was eating someone's home. I will definitely be back to try more items.

I've been meaning to try La Catedral Cafe for years and finally made it. Totally worth it. This is the kind of spot you want to hit first thing in the morning and just soak in the vibe. The whole place is on theme with church-style decor on every wall, feels like you're sitting in a little chapel. I ordered the chef's favorite, La Catedral. The coffee was smooth and just right, the fresh orange juice... wow, one of the best I've had. But the dish itself was the star. The combo of flavors was wild, the eggs, the chorizo and potatoes, that hidden fried tortilla under the beans, all of it stacked up into these perfect bites. Rich but balanced. Every forkful had something different going on. The staff was incredibly helpful, and the service was fast for a busy morning. Left full and happy, already planning to come back.

I had been wanting to go to La Catedral Cafe for a while after seeing influencers post about it and it honestly lived up to everything I expected. I was really curious if the owners or chef are from Jalisco because they use the word birote instead of bolillo which instantly felt familiar to me in a nostalgic way. The mole was so good, it tasted like a mole dulce my momma makes but with a little hint of spice which I never thought of eating it this way but it worked so well. I usually don't like Mexican red rice at restaurants because it's often bland but theirs was actually really flavorful and I really enjoyed it. I knew my chilaquiles came with chicken but I added a side of cecina and that ended up being one of my favorite parts of the meal because it was so good and I left completely stuffed. I really want to go back to try their sweet breakfast items because everything looked amazing but I was too full this time. The inside is also so beautiful and decorated really thoughtfully and I loved seeing all the corazones sagrados everywhere which was my favorite detail and the ceiling painting was stunning. I was honestly caught off guard seeing the Virgen de Guadalupe painting but it made the space feel even more meaningful and special! The service was great too!

This spot was amazing! We were able to get seated immediately walking in. We got the guac as a starter. The chips were fried perfectly (you can tell they're not store bought), and the guac was on par with the best guac I've had. I also loved the way they plated the chips! I got the chilaquiles with the salsa roja and verde. Super solid, and the portions are super big! There was a busy vibe there! Oh yea, I got the jamaica and it was great!

If chilaquiles is your jam, then this place is for you. This place is very well known for their chilaquiles as they offer different sauces, proteins and styles. Serving portions are very generous (two can share one order). There may be a line to wait but be patient, the wait is worth it and the line moves quickly. The restaurant is a lot bigger than it appears from the outside. Service was great and standard. Cafe de Olla is must if you're into coffee (they offer iced and hot). Give it a try if you're in town!

We definitely enjoyed breakfast at this place. The service was fast and food was awesome! I would recommend to anyone looking for some good chilaquiles and great coffee!!! We would be visiting this place again in the future.

Cafe de olla ($3.50)- get a small bc a large is huge. Chilaquiles Chipotle ($15.99)- this had the best flavor. It comes with rice. Chilaquiles divorciados ($17.50)- this is super super spicy. I can't handle the heat so I would skip this Torta de chilaquiles $(15.50)- lots of bread. Bread is nice and toasted but they give you less. I would skip this.

we came here at around 1pm on a saturday afternoon as a party of 2 and had to join the waitlist, and it only took about ~10 minutes for us to be seated. they have a large menu with various options ranging from many different yummy sounding chilaquiles variations to sweeter options like waffles and pancakes to burritos. the decor is also very appropriate for a cafe called la catedral. i got the alambre and my date got the chilaquiles verdes. we also got the horchata con fresa and the regular horchata, and both were delicious. the horchata con fresa was so sweet and pretty pink, and tasted just like nesquick strawberry milk. the food came out quickly to the delight of our hungry bellies lol. the alambre was so yummy, it would be great food for a hangover, it's fried bacon, sausage, and steak bits with jalapeños and bell peppers and melted cheese on top. the beans and rice were yummy on the side too! super fluffy rice. the chilaquiles con verdes was a favorite of my date's, he said that the salsa verde they make is perfect and the perfect spice level. i had a taste and it was super delicious, no complaints there. i definitely want to try the birriaquiles next time! overall i was super super satisfied with this mexican breakfast, which my date said is the utmost traditional mexican breakfset spot in the area, and i can understand its popularity after trying it.
