Walked in for breakfast before work. Pretty good bacon egg and cheese tacos with beans. The green salsa was decent. I kinda wish it was a bit thicker, but it did have good flavor. Visited for the last time the other day. Staff is friendly. But when I walked in the guy was sweeping and picking up in the front entrance. When I walked up he came to make my taco and went to wash his hands but without soap. I was disgusted. I told him nevermind and walked out. I was shocked he was cleaning and was going to make my tacos without properly cleaning his hands. And he did that right in front of me. As a frequent customer as well as catering orders for my employer, a local school, I asked for a side of pico de gallo for tacos I was picking up for coworkers and I didn't know if they liked it so I asked for it on the side. I was told I would have to pay extra for it ? If the pico is being put on the taco when he was assembling them, I wouldn't have to pay extra, so why would you charge me to put some in a little cup? Dumass employees here are very friendly. A dumass guy greeted me at the door and suggested the Dumass Huevos Mexicano breakfast burrito with refried beans which was VERY good. Best food and shells in the area, one of my favorite go to places. Never fail, always delicious.

My wife and I tried this place recently out of curiosity and to support local. Overall I think it's a great taco shop, the food is decent. Not something you'll rant and rave about, but tasty, and the portions are good. The dining area was uncomfortably warm. I don't know if they were having ac problems or just being frugal, but you can't expect Texas customers to eat in temperatures above 73F. Desert cool isn't going to cut it in Houston. First I'll do the bads because their aren't many. We came an hour before closing and they rice felt over cooked and chewy at the same time and the refried beans tasted like they were canned which is fine. The atmosphere is pretty dismal and I understand it's a smaller building but there should be some kind of music. The goods are the portion size is good, our quesadilla had plenty of chicken and cheese and had a pretty good taste, the beef fajita tacos meat was pretty good and the beef wasn't chewy. As a long time fan of Dumass taco, I have become very disappointed in this place. One word sums it up, DIRTY. The lady making food touched just about everything behind the counter with gloves and proceeded to make food after she did so. I asked her to change her gloves, she agreed and became visibly upset. Other than that it is hotter than hell in this place. They do not run the air conditioner. It's also very run down now. This place has gone way down hill and do not recommend coming here. read more

If I could give this place a 0 star rating I would, I loved coming here for breakfast tacos every morning before work but all of a sudden they didn't have breakfast available by the time I went which has always been around 9. I went by today and the guy working there said he would prepare the bacon and egg for 2 breakfast tacos so I waited. I opened the taco and it was dripping in and soaked in oil I have never gotten a taco like that. I ended up throwing it away. Smh read more

We have been dying to try this place having moved to area and always want to find best Taco place. I myself had driven by eyed and 2 attempted to go in but was leary because didn't look like anyone was there and looked so small. Finally hubby took me and he had Chicken tacos it's was brunch 10:45am ish. Looking at the Hotplate left little to desire. I orderd a breakfast burrito that was huge and $5. Place is small..wait I said that!! ..tortillas were thick and floury. Kinda grew on me. The RED Salsa is Super Super super hot. Green was ok. Tried the new location in Tomball and I am impressed. It is counter service, but they have tables and chairs and a soda fountain. When you walk in you get in line to place your order and most items they can prepare while in line. The menu is above the order line with daily specials with pictures displayed to the right. I ordered a side of beans and rice with 3 flour tacos. The flour tortillas are warm and soft. They have 7 meat choices. I went with al pastor, spicy beef faijta, and Barbacoa. After selecting your meat then you add toppings. I like onions, cilantro, and shredded cheese. Also, choices include sour cream, guac, pico, lettuce, and tomatoes. Al pastor - tender and soaked in the juices make this taco a little messy, but best to eat first so your tortilla doesn't get soggy. The flavor was mild and not spicy. Spicy beef fajita - appears to be beef faijta meat mixed with pico. The spice level is medium. The meat is tender and juicy. I liked this one the best of the three. Barbacoa- tender, no fat or grizzle, but slightly dry. I added some salsa and it fixed that. The beans and rice are good. Beans cooked well and really creamy. The rice had some vegies, which I like. Also, I got their queso with pico added and this is the best queso I've had in a long time. They put plenty of pico throughout the queso. The cheese is so creamy but doesn't get hard or too thick when it cools. My only complaint is the tortilla gets soggy and falls apart if you choose a meat that is really wet. read more

I had difficulty swiping my card when paying for my meal so the employee assisted me by swiping it for me. As I was putting away my card, she went on to help the customer after me. She did not change out her gloves after she touched my card. I wanted to say something but the employee had a hard time hearing me as I was placing my order due to my mask & the relatively high counter window blocking my voice (I'm short). The interaction would have been awkward so I didn't bother. My card is wiped down often but I can't imagine cards being clean 100% of the time. I was so grossed out that at how it did not cross her mind to switch her old gloves for the new order that I threw away the tacos. If she did not realize how disgusting cards can be then I imagine she does not practice safe hygiene. Pretty disappointing considering this place is on my way to work. I won't be back. read more

I've lived in the area for almost 20 yrs and have seen this place for years, always liked the name. Finally tried it last week for breakfast tacos. Had a potato n egg and a bacon n egg. They were both ok. I've had better and had worse. I did notice, as another reviewer did, the homemade? , flour tortillas were very heavy, thick, not soft. The container of red sauce they gave me was kind of orange colored, very thin watery and liquid fire! Next time I'll pay the 50cents for cheese and pico. read more

I moved to the Tomball area 6 years ago, around this time is when I found Dumas Tacos. This locally owned beauty has since been my favorite food place to go to. There are two locations but I frequently go to the one on Tomball Parkway, in front of Wal-Mart. Within the first couple of times coming in, I could tell the workers remembered me and were always so friendly. The food is amazing, and the staff's politeness just adds the cherry on top. The restaurant is decorated very cutely and has a very nice atmosphere. The name of the place (Dumas) is I believe someone's last name but the restaurant plays along like it means what you think it does, which I find hilarious and playful. When I moved here, I didn't think I would find a tex-mex place I would like because I was so used to the food I had back home. But they were better than all of them! I believe it's important to find locally owned businesses, and support them any way you can. This is by far my favorite mom-and-pop shop that I will continually support. They are sometimes on the pricier side, but quality comes at a cost so it makes perfect sense and I'm happy to pay. read more

I am always scared to try new places.....my wife always wants a place that is authentic....for me this place is great. First visit and they had classic rock playing....great tunes. This morning I woke up craving tacos and pazole. I really just wanted a taco stand but decided to give Dumass' bc we've passed by it many times and the reviews were good. Everything is pre-made and in their containers covered and kept heated so it's hot but not fresh hot. This just made for quick order and pick upI got a lg menudo and 4 tacos (potato and egg +cheese, barbacoa +cilantro +onions, fajitas +cilantro +onions, pastor +cilantro + onions) that came to $16 +$2 tip to-go. Tacos each $2 not bad on the price and they take cc so that didn't bother me. The Barbacoa, fajita, and pastor each had little to no flavor, very bland. Fajita was a little dry. Pastor is my favorite and I can't find somewhere that has it good anymore. The pastor here looked like longer pieces of red tinted fajita but more tender than fajita. I've only had menudo a couple times but this was by far the bottom of the list. Flavorless and I found an eyelash attached to a piece of stomach. You might think it was animal fur but this was not. Seeing as I got a large and it didnt taste very good, think of how much less appealing it is to find someone elses hair in it and this was only a couple mins of eating it. Needless to say it's going in the trash All in all I'm not impressed with this place, the only thing it has going for it is the speedy service and fresh tortillas. Fast service and very clean dining area. Counter service but we got ours to go. Had two plain fajita tacos one beef and one chicken and they were stuffed with meat. Chicken torta was pretty good but could have used a bit more meat. Pork tamale was excellent. Shredded chicken taco was also good. Only thing we did not like was the cheese enchilada was not good and the shredded cheese they used to make the enchilada was not melted and was really orange colored. Wife and daughter also tried the enchilada and did not like it so that's three of us. The queso is vey good but the chips are like chips from the HS football game nachos, Tostitos would had been better. read more
