Heard about this place through IG suggestion of DinewithKent, which is one of the reasons why I love social media. Ta Bueno is literally around the corner from my house and right behind the HEB that I shop at. I've never noticed it there before, because it sits just off the road a bit, hidden by a car wash. I decided to come for lunch because I have been craving these tacos ever since I saw them. I went with the trio that I had seen in the video, which was called El Trio, I got the quesabirra taco con consume, the Classero with Barbaco and a Pastor on a blue tortilla. And bc you can't not get a classic street taco with fajita beef, I added that too!!!! Everything was sooo good. From the warm chips and hot salsa I first received to when the plate came out! I didn't know where to start because everything looked so good. The tacos are well stuffed with meat and lots of cheese! I started with the quesabirria, bc I really wanted some tacos today, and this is my fave way of having them. They are good on their own, but dipping it in the consume with and topping with the verde salsa just is an explosion of flavors in your mouth! SOOOO good! Then I tried the pastor next, which again, amazing flavors, super tender meat, falling out of the taco!!! Dreaming of it still!! The two street tacos, I knew I wasn't going to be able to eat everything bc of the amount of food there was, but I took a couple of bites of each, and the barbacoa had such a nice char to the meat, but still was super tender and seasoned really nicely, topped with grilled onions, cilantro and avocado! I topped with some fresh lime, and of course dipped it in that consume and verde salsa!! Like whooooo chile! I tell ya, it was so good, and the fajita beef just the same. I wanted to get some sopapillas but I knew my son would want to try some hot and fresh, so that will be on the list for the next go round. I did get some Jamaica to go, and it was really good too!! Me and my family love to go here for dinner. The food is great (I usually get the birria ramen or the breakfast tacos). The service is top tier! They are just so friendly and it gives off a homemade feel. The restaurant feels like a lot of Mexican culture compressed into a building with great food and service. You can throw a rock in any direction in the Greater Houston Area and hit a place that serves amazing varieties of Mexican food. If you're really fortunate, you'll end up at Ta Bueno. It feels like a taqueria and a warm hug! We watched regulars greeted with warmth and a steady stream of to go orders pop in and out without the frenzied feeling many restaurants have. There are a handful of booths and tables inside with additional outdoor dining. This small restaurant serves amazing food and has wonderful service. Food was delicious! Had the quesabirria torta and the Big Three tacos which included a blue corn Al pastor taco, Barbacoa street taco and a quesabirria taco! Since I live in Cypress a friend sent me the Dine with Kent IG post. Based on his enthusiastic review, we decided to check it out today and can confirm -- everything was delicious. My husband enjoyed a breakfast taco and Milanese Pollo (Mexican version of Chicken Cordon Bleu or Chicken Fried Steak). However, I swear by their Tacos Placeros which were piled high with beef asada, avocado, grilled onions, cilantro, and queso fresco. The chips and tortillas were home-made and the service was friendly and fast. We'll be back! read more

This is the second time we eat here, first time was great so we came back but unfortunately this time wasn't the same. Food was decent, service not so great, plus we saw few gentlemen "different tables" as soon as they sat down they had served chips and salsa. We never got any, plus A/C not working properly. Stop what you're doing and make plans to come to this place. I walked in for lunch, was greeted immediately by a friendly server who sat me in a booth. Ordered the Birria tacos and the Tortilla soup (i didnt add the chicken for this first time trying it). The Birria was full of flavor, topped with cotija cheese and fresh avocado. The red and green salsas were perfectly spicy. The Birria broth was STUPID good. Some people make it too greasy and oily, this was neither, just delicious. I ordered the soup thinking they would bring a small cup, but no this was a BOWL filled with the perfect ratio of broth, vegetables and tortilla strips. I had to take half to go. Stopped in for a meal with the hubs after a long day and was a great find. Had a total mexican food diner feel when you walk in. You can see back behind the bar where food is being prepared and there is a cooler with drinks. Service was great the waitress was attentive, never had to ask for a refill. She checked with us to see how the food was and all the staff said goodbye when we left. The true jewel here however was the food. I got the birria tacos and was not disappointed. I have not had these a lot to compare but I can say the beef was juicy and the consommé was meaty and delicious! The pickled onion and fresh onion and cilantro on the side brought a brightness to the tacos, my mouth is watering just thinking about it. The spouse had the fajita beef nachos. He loved the beef, had a great char and thought they had a really good queso. This will definitely be added to the rotation for our family. read more

My wife and I were craving for Mexican food and I was considering food truck for the night, but when browsing on Yelp, I noticed a goodie nearby that was open not too long ago. We were brought to Ta Bueno and the online menu had a couple of enticing items that we wanted to try: tacos de birria, tacos con al pastor, torta con pollo Milanese, and las quekas. At 8pm, Friday night, we arrived with only a table of guest dining outdoor in the covered patio and immediately thought if we actually made a good choice. Part of us thought of getting takeout but we ended up dining in to support regardless. The waitress was very welcoming when we walked in and let us sit anywhere we would like. *There are some restaurants that would insist you are seated by their staff even when it is empty.* Menus are on the table or a QR code can be scanned. Promptly we were given a basket of hot, fresh chips and salsa (salsa was amazing!) and glasses of water (with a plastic cup for our toddler). We ended up ordering tacos with birria, tortas with chicken Milanese, and a kid quesadilla, and although the quesadilla supposed to be with chicken or beef, we requested if we can get that with pork (al pastor), because of our kid's preference, and the kitchen was happy to substitute that for us with no charge. The dishes came relatively quickly after we had a refill on the chips and salsa, which the waitress gladly did no questions asked. The tacos were served with a bowl of hot flavorful soup, salsa, pickled onion and beets, and two sauces. The torta was huge and the chicken Milanese was tender inside and crispy outside, served with jalapeños and avocado. The quesadilla came with copious amount of Mexican rice and fries. All the dishes were excellent and the service was outstanding. We were well taken of with everything we needed (more napkin, checking on us occasionally, etc.) We will definitely return for more authentic Mexican food! read more

Food wasn't good. I had ordered a lot of dishes. The fish taco was ok. Birria tacos is ok. Queso flameado is ok. LA Kathy combo of beef taco al carbon and 1 verde chicken enchilada. Ala cart taco al pastor. I did eat them all but wasn't that great. It was just ok. Overall everything needs more flavor and seasoning. The beef in the Al carbon was very dry and in the birria. The broth for the birria was ok as well. Service was good. The ambiance was nothing special but it was in a small spot, so it's understandable but it was pretty hot in there. read more

I have been here probably 10 -15 times. I like it because it is close to where I live, easy to get in and out of, has a small covered patio (a little annoying now that a car wash has gone up right next to the patio but still nice), and the food is pretty good, not great but good. The fajitas are decent but over priced for the quality, the burritos are ok, breakfast dishes are ok, nothing great but... bar none some of the best street tacos I have ever had - which saves the score (should be a 3) on this review. You must try in this order: Tacos de Birria. Add all the toppings, and dip that bad boy into the bowl of, included, consume - amazingly good. Las Quekas - super super good tacos! There salsa is orange and different but tasty - I generally get extra. Stick to beer or Mexican coke their margaritas are wine-based and their michelada comes with a plastic mug (instead of glass) so you get this sticky mess all down the glass after a few minutes. Good scene, friendly folks, one other big thing... They are closed on Sundays. read more

Really nice hidden gem! Glad Yelp made the recommendation. Food was extremely flavorful and portions were more than enough. Atmosphere is nice small limited seating on the interior with some additional room on the patio. It has an open kitchen concept where you can see and smell the food being prepared. If I could give a zero I would. Saturday morning - average crowd - no one in line. Placed my order for 9 breakfast tacos to go: 3 potato & egg, 3 bean & cheese, 3 egg & cheese. Fifteen minutes go by and nothing. I ask about the status of the order and it looks like utter confusion in the kitchen. Finally get my order about 5 to 7 minutes later. I get home and they made 3 potato and egg, and the remaining 6 six tacos have a scoop of egg and that's it. So I call the number listed on the (claimed) Yelp site - 832-653-6801 - and it says, "your call cannot be completed at this time." Well, "at this time" means never - it doesn't work. My mistake, which I will never make again. There are way too many superior taquerias in the area - skip this one. read more

This place is definitely on a level of its own. Great fresh authentic Mexican food. If you want something prepared differently they are willing to accommodate. Fresh chips and a medium heat salsa for all the kiddies or non-spicy food enthusiasts this is a good start to the meal. Had the fresh agua de tamarindo, delicious! Had the Chilaquiles lunch special. I dunno. The food was good but their pricing and their portions were kind of weird. Let's explore. This place opened up in a old bubble tea place that didn't make it. I was curious to try it because I'm a sucker for Mexican. I was just getting over the flu and didn't want to sit down for anything so did delivery. Their prices are equal to an El Tiempo. But their offering is way way different. 17 bucks for beef fajitas. But it comes with flour tortillas, beef cut in crazy one inch wide strips, a pitiful side of guac and pico (maybe a small ice cream scoop amount) and rice/beans. Sour cream and cheese was extra. Not sure how with these prices they are extra but okay. Their hot sauce? Couldn't tell you. Despite the 12 dollar half pint of queso (Jesus Christ typing it makes it that much more expensive) they gave me zero salsa. Guess that was also extra. No side of chips and salsa with your order either. I got the stingiest bag of fried flour tortilla chips with the TWELVE dollar queso. Maybe 10-12 chips. I dunno I guess if I could summarize this experience it would be not a lot of food, for a lot of money. At least price vs what you get. Was it good? I usually judge a Mexican restaurant based on the salsa, and I was disappointed. It's not spicy in the slightest. Had an order of quekas and they were just ok. I asked for grilled onions, but got pickled onions instead. The charro beans that came with it were very tasty though. This place wasn't busy when I got there and there were a ton of people in the kitchen, and yet we waited incredibly long to get our order. Two cops that walked in 10 minutes after us got their food first AND they ordered what I had ordered. Pretty unfair if you ask me. Overall, the food isn't "authentic" tasting. Be ready to wait a while for your order. IMO, if the waitresses are wearing masks, I think the people in the kitchen should also be wearing masks. read more
