Let me set up the scene... My husband took on a home improvement project two months (?) ago, to re-roof our garage. All of the old shingles were laying on top of tarps in our driveway. There was also some metal strips and a huge ripped tarp that were a part of that mess. I called the dump guy and explained the situation, he scheduled to come to my house the next day. I decided to clean out the garage since he was coming and added, three broken outdoor chairs, a broken umbrella and my old dead sewing machine to the mix. The Dump Guy comes exactly as advertised. You call them and within a couple days they'll send two guys with a truck and trailer to haul away basically anything and everything (besides flammable liquids). In nearly no time your junk is gone, you write a check, and move on with your life. Personally, this was worth it for me when the alternative was finding a friend with a truck, loading it with all of my junk and sorting it at the dump. And then doing it again for a second trip. The service isn't cheap though. Several years ago they hauled away a large amount of trash for $60 and I would have given them 10 stars. This time a similar amount of junk was $120. I'm still satisfied, but you could do it yourself for a third of the price. read more

Kind of a genius business. I didn't realize how much of a need there is for a service to help you get rid of crap until I decided to rip up some wall-to-wall carpet in my house. I hauled it out to the deck and then thought to myself "hm... how am I going to get rid of this?" First option would be to cut it all up, stuff it into garbage bags and get rid of it slowly, week after week filling up my trash can. Second option would be to bring it to the dump myself which would require rolling and tying it meticulously and then having to find a truck. (This also costs $$) I wasn't too keen on either of these, so did a little research online and found that you can actually pay people to deal with it for you! The entire communication was done via email and they came the next day while I was at work (the carpet was outside), and I never thought of it again. Money very well spent! These guys are top notch! I needed three pieces of ratty old furniture hauled away, and I also needed to have a small air conditioner carried into the house and placed inside a closet. I sent an email to The Dump Guy via their web site, told them what I needed, and asked how much it would cost. Less than an hour later, I received a reply. I set up the appointment, and they were here less than 48 hours later. Jacob called 30 minutes before the appointment to tell me that he was running ahead of schedule, and asked if I'd like him to come early. I said that would be great. When he and his helper arrived, they got straight to work and had all of the tasks accomplished in under 10 minutes. The whole process was so easy, and the price was only $14 more than I would have paid in furniture disposal fees if I had hauled the items by myself to the town transfer station. In fact, there's no way I would have been able to do that by myself; I would've had to find a friend to help me, and I probably would've paid the friend at least $20. These guys are 1st class all the way with ridiculously fair pricing. I was moving out of my house and had a ton of crap I just wanted gone, including three couches, 3 big chairs, washer and dryer, giant bureau, end tables and more....a lot more. I try so hard not to accumulate stuff, but then it just happens. I reached out to a few different junk hauling companies and Garrett from Dump Guy was the first to respond. The day they showed up it was Garrett and another guy. I thought it would take them at least 2-3 hrs. We did a quick walk through and then they went to work. I really think these guys must be super heroes at night or maybe they're aliens from another planet? What I do know is they're not like you and me. These guys went to work and it was like a tornado went off. They were moving heavy furniture around like it was nothing. Down stairs through doorways...it didn't matter. They got er done. The entire time they actually looked like they were having fun! When the dust settled only 45 mins had passed and the entire job was done and they had even done a final sweeping. It was truly amazing. Now, I can't say for certain, but I do believe there was some superhuman shit happening here. Working as an experienced team, they were quick, quiet - soooo... as they were about to drive away, we took a gamble and asked it they'd be willing to take a clunky old garden chair for ten bucks.
