This was my first time ever at Dumser's Dairyland on a beautiful Saturday evening in mid-May. My mom suggested we grab ice cream and bring back a sundae for my dad for his birthday. We arrived around 7:30pm and the lines were fairly long. I figured I could browse the menu while in line and would be ready to order when the time came. Well, I was wrong. The line moved incredibly quickly. I went with a basic chocolate and vanilla swirl with hot fudge, whipped cream, and a cherry. I felt like before I could even finish ordering I was being handed my sundae! Portions were large and the ice cream was very good. After we finished, my mom got back in line to order my dad's sundae with hot fudge, whipped cream, and his favorite topping, wet walnuts. Once again the line only took a few minutes. We got his sundae home only to find out they forgot his wet walnuts. Even without the wet walnuts the sundaes were a hit! Large portions, great ice cream, and a classic shore-town ice cream stand vibe. We'll definitely be back during our next stay in Berlin. read more

When you drive in there are plenty of spaces to park your car. The walk up felt like you were in a classic movie on an ice cream date. There are two windows you can walk up to and the menu inside of the building is clearly seen from outside. They have classic flavors and they also seem to have seasonal flavors as well. I got the hawaiian delight which was essentially vanilla mixed with cherry, pineapple, and banana bits. It was simple yet something I've never tasted in ice cream before. Pair that with sprinkles and you get a tropical sweet paradise! They also offer dole whip here if you're into that. 1 scoop in a cup is also a good amount to keep me satisfied. There's no inside seating or ordering so just be aware of that. While I like sprinkles I would definitely ask for half sprinkles next time- especially on the chocolate milkshake. Even off-season Dumser's provides reliable, delicious, toppings packed ice cream. I love this particular location because the nostalgia from my youth- while camping nearby at Assategue Park-we would always plan out our Dumser's trip-though parking can get chaotic in the initial lot, Food Lion is nearby for overflow- but it was always an adventure hoping to get a spot right up front so we could eat in the back of the truck bed- though not necessary as they have ample benches around outside. This visit, like all visits, I ordered my normal two scoops of Coconut Chocolate Chip topped w.malt- I love that I don't even have to ask the staff to layer the malt-any staff, any location, just understands spreading toppings throughout a scoop cup. The Coconut Chocolate Chip is by far my favorite ice cream ever. Packed with shredded coconut & mini chocolate chips it is beyond delicious. I've got to give Dumser's some serious credit. It might be thirty degrees with a howling wind in winter with no one around seemingly every time we passed the two days we were in town but damn it, they were open and I loved it. As I mentioned in my review from last time there's not a ton of flavors here nor are there any "off the wall" things but if you're looking for straight ahead middle of the road people pleasers then this is your spot. We did some Oreo Mint and a Black Raspberry milkshake. Personally I didn't try the Oreo Mint but I got two ecstatic thumbs up from those who did so I would day mission accomplished on that one. In terms of the Black Raspberry shake, it certainly was very, very thick. I mean we're talking like fifteen minutes later a Shop Vac couldn't have gotten something thru the straw thick. Not complaining at all but damn, that's thick. When it comes to flavor the Black Raspberry doesn't quite have the "tang" factor that I've had other places when ordering my go-to flavor but by no means would I say that it was bad. Just more sweet then tangy. The only complaint I really have is that the prices are certainly steep. A single scoop is nearly four bucks and while the quality is there no doubt, the price certainly is there as well. Dumser's stuff is certainly good and if you're in the OCMD area they're impossible to miss as seemingly there's a location in every possible place a tourist could want to go. Ice cream, soft serve, sundaes, milk shakes, floats, ice cream sodas...ahhhhh, I couldn't decide what to order. I finally decided on two scoops, Hawaiian Delight and Peanut Butter Fudge in a cup with a cone on top. I preferred the Hawaiian Delight over the PB Fudge. Who would have thought I'd like cherries, pineapples, and bananas in my vanilla ice cream. Definitely not me! I would have liked the PB Fudge to be more fudgy and less peanut buttery, but it was still good. I also enjoyed crushing my cone into pieces and eating it with my ice cream. Don't worry, I left the bottom of the cake cone intact so I can squish some ice cream into it. Definitely the best part! Love the fact that they make their ice creams fresh daily.
