I recently went to Island Creamery on a weekend trip with my wife and loved my experience. We went in the middle of the day, which I highly advise, as the line gets long on summer weekend evening. We were able to order immediately and were able to sample a couple of flavors. Island Creamery has over 30 flavors, including more than 10 season flavors. I got the chocolate peanut butter and caramel bourbon in a chocolate waffle cone. The scoops were so big that Island Creamery put the cone in a paper bowl so they didn't fall. The price was incredibly affordable (less than $8 total including tax and tip), and the ice cream was phenomenal. The scoops were rich and creamy, loaded with flavor, and perfectly blended. The homemade chocolate waffle cone was fresh, crunchy, and loaded with chocolate flavor and hints of cinnamon. I would highly recommend Island Creamery if you're visiting Assateague Island or Ocean City (20 minutes away from both)! read more

Located right on the Eastern Shore, Island Creamery sits in a neighborhood where time has stopped still. Charming antique stores and soda shops line the streets, but this family-owned ice cream shop should be everyone's first stop when visiting Chincoteague. The ice cream is made in small batches daily using the buttermilk from Lancaster Cows so the result is rich and creamy. Locally grown fruit and other premium goodies are mixed in for an addictive treat that you just stop eating. I went for one scoop of their Iced Nirvana (Espresso ice cream with chocolate chunks and fudge swirl) in a waffle cone and was met with about fifty baby scoops tucked in a freshly baked cone. It was absolute perfection! At $4.75 per waffle cone, it's a great price considering what you get. Service is phenomenal, you are met with a smile as soon as you walk in and you will be sure be smiling when you walk out -- this place just brings feelings of happiness all around. They also take allergies seriously -- one girl in the party behind me had a peanut allergy so they made sure to use a fresh scooper in a new ice cream tub just for her. Tastings are also highly encouraged, my second favorite flavor is the pineapple upside down cake. It was so unique and tropical tasting! My wife and I were in the mood to splurge, so we tried the Round Up sundae which allows for up to five different scoops and we could try a whole bunch of flavors. It was all delicious. My favorite was probably Cherries Jubilee, with cherries soaked in brandy (it was definitely noticeable, but not overpowering). In times of COVID-19, they are doing a great job to keep clientele safe. A board with all flavors and combinations was outside the entrance. We were greeted at the door by a masked young lady who took our order. She was able to surreptitiously signal to her coworkers during the whole time and so they could get everything ready faster. They ushered us in to pay, then had us wait in the alley where there are marked off seats socially-distant waiting. Only a few moments of waiting and they came out with our ice cream. Stopped in over the weekend and was immediately greeted by a really sweet young woman working in the shop who offered my dog some whipped cream as a treat. I sampled quite a few different flavors (LOVE the whiskey brickle) before settling on the pony tracks and the cookie dough ice cream in a waffle cone bowl.
