I've been going to Ocean City, MD since I was a kid. I have seen Dumser's Dairyland every single time I've been there. And yet...not once -- NOT ONCE -- had I ever actually stopped in. Why? I truly cannot explain it. But this year? Birthday trip. Solo adventure. No one to stop me from making questionable (but ultimately excellent) life decisions. And that's how I ended up at Dumser's at 5pm on a random March Saturday, fully prepared to eat a gigantic ice cream sundae for dinner. Because I do what I want. I walked in and found a few people happily enjoying their ice cream, keeping things low-key and wholesome...while I approached the counter with a plan to absolutely disrupt the peace. I had my eye on the Peanut Butter Supreme Super Sundae -- three dips of peanut butter fudge ice cream topped with peanut butter topping, hot fudge, Reese's Pieces, whipped cream, and a cherry. A masterpiece. A commitment. A lifestyle choice. My original plan was to order it with just one scoop, pretending to be reasonable. I explained my plan to the very kind gentleman behind the counter, and he gently said, "We can do that, but it'll be almost the same price as the full Super Sundae...we do have lids. Do you have access to a freezer?" Sir. That was all the encouragement I needed. Upgrade me. Immediately. I handed over $13.05 and braced myself for greatness. Moments later, I was holding what can only be described as a mixing bowl-sized sundae, and I have never felt more aligned with my life choices. I found a table, sat down, and dug in with zero hesitation. And let me tell you -- this thing was not just big, it was GOOD. The peanut butter fudge ice cream was rich and creamy, the toppings were generous (shoutout to that employee for not holding back), and every bite felt like a reward for finally making it into Dumser's after literal decades of driving past it. I made it through two scoops and most of the toppings before I had to admit temporary defeat. I returned to the counter, humbled but determined, and asked for a lid. There was absolutely no chance I was letting the rest of that masterpiece go to waste. After a quick break, a little walk, and some fresh ocean air, I finished the rest while watching the sunset just a few blocks away -- which, honestly, felt like the most perfect ending to the most unhinged and delightful dinner choice I've made in a while. I'm slightly embarrassed it took me this long to finally try Dumser's...because WOW, I've been missing out since childhood. Safe to say, this is now a mandatory stop every time I'm in Ocean City from here on out! read more

Dumser's was close to our hotel (and also close to secrets ) so we walked over for a late night snack. The lines were so long close to closing ( it was also Memorial Day weekend ...) I opted for a butter pecan sundae with M&Ms. It was delicious, but I noticed ice cream melt really fast ! Within the 2 minute back to the hotel- my Sunday was nearly melted. We always stop by for ice cream but we haven't been here in October. PUMPKIN FLAVORS!! We visited here two times this vacation and we tried the pumpkin pie in a waffle cone. Never got a picture of it because we ate it too fast before I remembered. We also walked around the parking lot next to it as there were tons of classic cars parked and on display for cruisin car week. This place was packed FULL of hungry car Enthusiast! I really enjoyed the pumpkin pie pieces in the ice cream. The other trip was for something we've never tried before, a sundae. We decided to share the Mocha Maddness. Good thing we did because it was a lot of ice cream! Husband and I enjoyed the coffee flavor and the jimmies sprinkled in. Restaurant was very busy, but we were sat immediately. This was one of the cleanest restaurants I've been too. The hostess who sat us was always cleaning when she wasn't by the front door. Ambiance was good, kid friendly family restaurant. It may be hard to hold a conversation due to how loud it can be during a rush. The food... hands down the best fish and chips I've eaten anywhere. Nothing tasted frozen, everything was fresh. Food was nice and hot, fish was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. Portion size was bigger than expected so that was a nice surprise. Went here today for an ice cream treat. It wasn't that busy at 6:30pm. They only have walk-up service, due to the pandemic the restaurant dining room is closed. We ordered a waffle cone with a scoop of Hawaiian delight (banana, pineapple, cherries) and a scoop of Banana ice cream. I had it dipped in chocolate crackle too, and it was it delicious! Unfortunately, the banana ice cream wasn't that frozen, so it immediately stared dripping like crazy. I had to eat it super fast. I like the banana ice cream a lot, the Hawaiian delight, not so much, the latter had pieces of crunchy ice in it too, which was a let down. We also ordered a small cup of peanut butter fudge ice cream, which tasted very smooth with good chunks of fudge in it. For years hubby and I have been enjoying Dumsers soft serve ice cream cones when visiting Ocean City. We were really surprised the other night when we saw the prices of the small soft serve ice cream cones... One small cone is now over $5! It's similarly priced to the regular ice cream cone, which was never the case before. Two small cones of soft serve came to over $13 with tip. Yikes! It's hard to spend that much money on soft serve when Chick Fila charges $2.09 for a cone of soft serve. The one or two scoop sundaes seem to be a better deal. read more

What can I say about Dumser's that hasn't been said? A glorious dairy-filled dessert wonderland throwback, with all the 60's flare and the sense to be open until 1AM to service the bare-conscious Seacrets crowd. I can only speak to the ice cream/shake offerings (they do offer a full menu). But, I can speak quite a bit about the ice cream/shake offerings because they are, indeed, delightful. The peanut butter fudge ice cream was absolutely glorious nightcap to a night at Seacrets. The ordering process was fluid and simple (...required for the late night crowd), and the ice cream was rich in peanut butter goodness, with a fudgy ribbon to tie it all together. My recollection of the peanut butter fudge milkshake two nights later...was much more vivid, after a torrential downpour delayed our trip. But the wait was well worth it. I honestly don't indulge in milkshakes often, but oh man this just hit the spot. Thick and hearty, ample peanut buttery goodness...as the saying goes, I was like a pig in...Ocean City, Maryland being very...very content.
