This review is not of Dr Raoof herself, but instead of her Patient Coordinator, Denisse Brito. I had several procedures done by Dr Raoof and they all went as planned. I now need a similar procedure on my other eye. After 5 attempts to contact Denisse and being unable to contact Dr. Raoof directly, I wrote the following email to Dr. Raoof. I have not received a response from either of them after several weeks trying. This lack of customer/patient service is unprofessional and is forcing me to seek another doctor. "Dear Dr. Raoof, I have made five attempts to contact Denisse Brito and left messages each time. She returned one call, but unfortunately, I was unavailable, and no further follow-up was made. Given the lack of communication, my wife and I have decided to seek cataract/lens replacement surgery elsewhere. A few weeks ago, my optometrist said I needed cataract surgery in both eyes. He told me he's been in business in our Laguna Woods community for 25 years and has seen the results of many surgeries. Among his very favorite ophthalmologists is Dr Duna Raoof, who works with Nvision Eye Center. I scheduled my appointment with her office, and the entire process from there was flawless. I later learned that there have been no reported issues with her more than 1100 cataract surgeries. Dr Raoof is not only a competent surgeon, she's also a kind, charismatic person with the type of disposition I look for in a doctor. She was very clear right from the beginning about options and what I could expect, answered all my questions and her staff provided written materials for me to take home. My wife previously had cataract surgery in another state, so I somewhat knew what to expect, but the surgery went so much smoother than I anticipated. If cataract surgery is in your future, you can set aside your fears! Between the numbing drops and the twilight anesthetic, I could not see what was happening, and there was no pain whatsoever. My awareness drifted in and out, and it seemed to be over in no time. The actual surgery only takes about 15 minutes. Following surgery, my eyesight is amazing, and colors have come to life! I opted for the basic surgery to correct distance vision. I've worn glasses for years, so I don't mind using reading glasses. After pricing readers at the drugstore for $25-$30., I went online to Amazon, where I found 6 pairs of 1.50 readers for only $12.00. Now I have a pair in all those places I normally need them. My distance vision is now 20-20. Dr Raoof also does laser surgeries and can correct for both near and far eyesight if you opt for that. I've worn glasses and contacts for 40 years and always dreamed of being able to wake, look out the window, and see the leaves on the trees without having to pop in my contacts or stumble around looking for my glasses. Last week, Dr. Raoof made that dream a reality for me. Not only was the procedure itself pain-free, but Dr. Raoof calmly talked me through each moment. Her steady hand; confident, calm, and kind guidance; and willingness to listen and be present made me feel utterly safe. The very next morning, I went into NVision Center in Laguna Woods for my post-op appointment. For the first time in my life, I had 20/20 vision in my right eye (for distance) and 20/25 in my left eye for reading. It's been a joy to read the small print on every ad I've seen (whether they be on TV or bus station benches) for the last week. Finally, at that appointment, I was singing Dr. Raoof's praises to the doctor taking care of me. Because I could finally see the quizzical look on the doctor's face, I looked down to read her name on her scrubs. On my first appointment with Dr. Raoof, I could quickly tell that she was the right choice. She is so knowledgeable and immediately put my mind at ease. I can't say enough good things about this doctor and eye center. She explained everything without my having to ask. And the Nvision eye center is state-of-the-art. I had cataract surgery yesterday in my right eye yesterday. I've still got some more healing, but I could see clearly out of that eye almost immediately. I had an excellent experience at NVision in Newport Beach for my Lasik surgery. From the minute I walked in the door I felt that I was in the right place. The entire team is welcoming, knowledgeable and very good at what they do. I had a consultation to determine whether I would be a good candidate. Following the positive outcome, I was able to set up a date for my surgery and go in for the pre-op within about two weeks. The technicians and optometrists I met were great. Each person took time to explain what the tests were for, what my results meant and how the surgery would correct my vision. I met Dr Raoof on the day of my surgery. She explained the procedure in detail and answered all my questions. She made me feel really at ease and in good hands. This procedure was a miracle for me. I've had really bad eyesight and worn glasses since second grade. The second I got up from the operation I could see almost perfectly. Despite discomfort on the day of the surgery, I've had very few side effects. My sight keeps getting better and clearer everyday. So thank you again Dr Raoof and your team at NVision. To say that Dr. Duna Raoof and my entire experience at NVision was great would be an understatement. It was nothing short of amazing! Honestly, I don't know why it has taken me almost 6 months to write this review for Dr. Raoof except that I believe that I'm still processing the fact that I now have 20/15 vision and prior to my surgery date on July 30, 2019 (at NVision in Newport Beach)... my eyeglasses and contacts prescription was -7.00 and -7.50 with astigmatism. I've worn glasses since I was about 4 years old and started wearing contacts when I was about 12 years old. I am now 45 years old and would have NEVER believed that having perfect vision was possible for me. My reason for meeting with Dr. Raoof earlier in July was simply to see if I was an eligible candidate for LASIK surgery. If truth be told, it was the two Ridgecrest earthquakes that had hit Southern California on July 4th and July 5th last year that fueled my determination to improve my eyesight even just a little bit... but enough so that if something were ever to happen in the middle of the night and I was not able to locate my glasses or contacts... that I could still see well enough to find my children and help my family. Prior to this amazing surgery and Dr. Raoof's skilled work, I could not see ANYTHING in the dark with barely much improvement in the daytime. With this as my goal, I was content to have just slight improvement to my eyesight and wear contacts or glasses for the rest of my life to improve clarity if needed. The "gift" I was given by Dr. Raoof and NVision is well beyond anything that I could have ever imagined. On my first visit with Dr. Raoof, after my eye examination and vision tests were completed, she went over all the outcomes of my tests, explained the options that I had available if I chose to move forward, and answered all of my many questions in a clear and thorough manner. From my very first meeting with Dr. Raoof, to my day of surgery, as well as my post-op follow-up appointment, Dr. Raoof was unbelievably welcoming, kind, patient, and professional in every way. On surgery day, I was once again given a thorough description of the LASIK procedure that was going to take place as well as the risks that are involved. This information was provided to me by multiple persons during intake as well as during my pre-surgery prep. I was VERY grateful for all of this information and as a result never felt any sort of pressure to do the procedure nor hesitation with my decision to move forward with the procedure since I had already been given all of this same information prior to my surgery and therefore had plenty of time to give everything a great deal of thought before making my decision. My LASIK surgery was unbelievably quick and the days that followed were just as had been described to me by Dr. Raoof: with some slight pain and gritty feeling in the eyes that gradually went away. I was very surprised to find out that my eyesight continued to improve well into the 2nd and 3rd month after surgery. For example, halos around lights at night took a few months to completely go away (and are totally gone now) and dryness of the eyes also seemed to improve as each week passed. Although I continue to use my Refresh Plus eye lubricant drops a few times a day, this is something that I did even prior to getting LASIK as I enjoy the cool and moist feeling that the drops give my eyes especially when I have to use the computer for extended periods of time at work. Now that I see how long this review is, I guess I DO know why it has taken me almost 6 months to write this review for Dr. Duna Raoof. It's because even now, I can hardly believe that I have perfect eyesight. It still feels surreal to me. I imagine that I will one day eventually donate my (super thick) eyeglasses to a collection program but for now, I'm holding on to them along with my contacts because sometimes I think that I might just wake up one morning and discover that my "perfect eyesight" was only a dream. I realize that this is a silly thought but it's truly how I still feel. For anyone who actually read my entire review... thank you! In summary, Dr. Duna Raoof is simply amazing and if you are fortunate enough to have the opportunity to have her as your surgeon or eye doctor ... do so without hesitation! read more

What a terrific experience from the initial consult to the surgery and follow up. Dr. Raoof was very nice, professional, and exuded the confidence I wanted to see in a doctor who was going to work on my eyes. The procedure was done in the morning and was quick, painless, and after a nice long nap when I got home, I was seeing without the use of glasses.
