New to Troy area, place looked liked a good time for a few beers, the staff was great always came around, no miller light on tap big disappointment, but a huge selection of beer!! I got a half of a steak n cheese sandwich ( the half was definitely 1/4! Of a sandwich) couldn't believe how small it was and for 8$ !! Way way too much!! Potato skins were just ok and small portion as well! I'd say this is us a good stop for beer after you ate another restaurant!! read more

Dunaway's is one of my favorite places to both drink and dine. The service is great, the atmosphere is comforting, and the food is absolutely incredible. They have some of the best pizzas I have ever had the pleasure of putting inside of me. Sure, they are a tad pricey, but I think it is well worth it. The only complaint I have, though, is that their chairs are too darn noisy! I can't begin to tell you how difficult it is to think when the chairs won't shut up! They will talk your head off if you let them. Let me tell you about one particular incident that happened to me at this glorious Irish pub: My girlfriend, Sputic, and I decided to come here for dinner. We entered the building, sat down at a table, ordered our food and drinks, and began conversing with one another. All of a sudden, three chairs began talking so loudly, I couldn't concentrate on even the most pedestrian of conversations. One chair was telling me to watch out for mountain lions in the bathroom. Another chair was telling me to never wash a truck with a red towel next to a family tree. The worst chair, however, was an angry bastard that prided itself on being a diehard Whig. I tried telling the chair that I completely agreed with its political views, but it wasn't having it. It kept calling me a "filthy Tory." I ordered a shot of Crown when the waitress came to check on us, and the chair grew violent with rage. "Yeah, typical dirty, stinkin' Tory! Your kind are always faithful to the Crown!" Finally, I had had enough. Angrily, I stood up and leaned over the petulant chair. In a loud, thunderous voice, I began scolding it. I threw every expletive-filled invective I could think of at the vile chair. After my tirade, I noticed a deafening silence. Much to my surprise, the patrons and workers all had their eyes on me. Somehow, out of the whole confrontation, I looked like the crazy one. It was beyond embarrassing. We ended up getting our food to go that night, but it was super delicious nonetheless. My girlfriend broke up with me that night. I was devastated. I blamed Dunaway's for how our relationship ending so abruptly. My anger, however, was quickly washed away as soon as I ate some of that tasty leftover pizza the next morning. In hindsight, it probably wasn't going to work out between the two of us anyway. The poor girl only had 6 fingers and 7 toes. What guy wants to wake up next to that for the rest of his life? So, in conclusion, if you can stand the chatter of the chairs, I highly recommend checking out Dunaway's. I don't think you will regret it. Also, contrary to popular belief, they haven't "Dunaway" with the place. It's still open for business! Cheers! read more

Seriously wish I had something good to say about this place. The one star is because the waitress was nice... at first until she forgot about us. So we get in and order and everything starts off great. Then we get our food, it is warm not hot. I got a cheeseburger (big mistake) was not a fan of the meat. Then I see the cook not wearing gloves putting together plates. I then see him walk out of the kitchen into the bathroom and walk right back out without washing his hands, then right back to the kitchen to keep cooking. I'm glad I didn't want to eat much of my dinner. Also, keep in mind when you eat here everything is cooked through an oven. Not fried, not cooked on a stove or hot top, just an oven. Some may like that, but personally just for the taste of food, I will not be back. Then our waitress finally stops back by, asks if I would like a refill because yes, please it's been empty ten minutes, just to never refill my cup and only come back when it's time to bring the bill. All in all it was a pretty terrible experience. Cook doesn't wash his hands, customer service not great, food not worth paying for. I think they should stick to serving drinks and stop trying to serve food. read more

I went there for a large lunch and was not thrilled with the place. The bartender was friendly and kept a good conversation. The place filled up rather unexpectedly and everything went south from there. The guys at the table behind me had a spider in their pitcher. The bartender just looked at it and asked if they killed it. She didn't even bother to ask if they wanted a different pitcher. I ordered the pizza because I heard it was good. The pizza was OK but that wasn't the problem. There were gnats flying all around my food. After noticing this I looked around a little more thoroughly and noticed that the entire place was dusty and dirty. Both tables behind me ended up waiting about an hour for their food. The owner walked in midway through the rush and did nothing to help. He sat at the end of the bar and complained that his bartender never called him after it had gotten busy but then proceeded to sit and drink a beer while doing nothing to help. When one of the patrons asked for a discount because of the lengthy ticket times, the owner flatly said there was nothing he could do. In my restaurant experience if you're the owner, you can do whatever you want to help your customers. Don't get me wrong, I was pleased with my service. I just thought the other situations in the place could have been handled better. I doubt I'll be back. read more

This place was awful and $42 down the drain. The $8.29 cheeseburger (that only comes with chips and the ass end of a pickle) sucked. It was large in size I'll give them that, but it was so full of grease I literally gagged, and it was rubber. For that price you should get fresh ground grade A beef. My husband's sandwich was cold and the cheese not even melted. The service was slow and non attentive, they themselves eating at the bar on their shift. After we sit forever while not eating the nasty food and get the check we got charged for refills we didn't even get. We got a child's milk and were charged $2.49! You can buy a whole gallon for that price! At least they took off the rubber burger. 1 star for that. Won't be returning sorry folks- these reviews must be old. read more

the place is horrible! they charged our bank twice! they charged us for items we did not purchase! had to argue with the owner to get the extra bill voided! then the next morning found out that the owner sent a second bill back though my sister's bank! apparently this is what they are known for not their roast beef! this is not a good look for a business that is only barely adequate! only go here if you like to have your hard earned money stolen from you! read more

Whispers of a rumour that if it proved to be true would be revolutionary... revolutionary for those in the North Dayton Greater Metro Area that have frequent cravings for a certain oldest beer in North America only available in certain East coast establishments starting a state to the right. Yessir Yeungling is here and on tap nonetheless. We came, we saw, we listened to too loud live music 3 feet from our table, but we conquered, the holy grail was found and all was glorious. And the sandwiches left us sanguine, sourced from a local real butcher, this meat was so grade A, I may as well hit on it. The pastrami was perfect and the roast beef grreeeat, so great that Arby's called and wants to give them a ginormous neon sign for it. read more

I went here a long time ago, just to have their pizza (which was recommended). It was average and not worth the trip, and the beer... well its beer, which I cant say much for since most beer taste the same no matter where you get it. Unless your plans are to get inebriated. Stopped in for lunch, no one else there, waited a couple minutes then heard talking from the back. A minute or so later the waitress came out and took our drink order. Looked over the menu and asked a few questions about the food, asked about a Ruben, had it years ago and back then the sauerkraut was crispy. She said they put their bread in a toaster oven, nothing is heated on a cooktop. Decided to go with something else, my wife ordered a ham and cheese, about 5 minutes later the waitress came back and said they were out of ham. We got charged for drinks and left. Actually they serve up some pretty healthy food... No fryer in the place, but the wings, oven fries, and particularly the fish are perfect. The best fish sandwich in the area by a wide margin, pure white Haddock filet that dwarfs the hoagie bun. Perfect for Lent. read more

Came in with the kids on sunday afternoon and ordered the garbage truck pizza. It was great! We'll be back for sure.

VETS/MILITARY AVOID THIS PLACE! Loved it the first couple times. We liked the atmosphere and food. We thought the waitress being a bit incompetent was a fluke, but we returned the third time, which was a very busy night, to find that the waitress was/is incompetent, THE FOOD WAS/IS GOOD, except for the BLT pizza...I would not recommend it at all. The food prices are a a bit high though. We found it odd that when we would go outside to smoke that a waitress outside to smoke told us that the owner raises and lowers his prices depending on whether they are busy or not...after hearing us talking about how screwed up our waitress was again and that we better watch our bills.The buckets of beer were supposed to be $14 before 9pm. We arrived at approx 7:00pm and ordered 3 buckets out of the gate and later at least 2-3 more before 9pm. Later in the night I asked how much "little Beers" were? The waitress told me that shots of "little Beers" were $7.50 ea!? I approached the owner about it and he said he didn't know how much they were that it was all in the computer, but they shouldn't be that high? He didn't bother to find out or question the waitress. Needless to say we didn't buy any shots.The waitress screwed up our bills just like the past two times,again. She brought me the total bill for 10-12 people in my party and I told her she would have to break it down per person and thought it would have been common sense to have done that at the start or at least asked? The total bill that was shown to me was $206, but when she broke it all down all buckets were at $16, and I paid $48, another bill came for $80+(they had the least drinks/food of anyone at the table), another bill for $63, another for $54 and another for $48! Well...you do the math on that one. The biggest surprise came when I approached the owner about it all and that myself and fellow soldiers would come 1 weekend every month and spend a good deal of $, but we wouldn't if our bills were going to be inflated and he not even care to fix it? He couldn't have cared a bit in the least!? WOW!??? He made no attempt to look at our bills, question the waitress or anything except sit on his butt and keep drinking!? I told him we would never be back if he allowed this to happen and him not even attempting to do anything about it? Nothing.....he did nothing. We all paid our inflated bills and will never return. I usually wouldn't bother to rate or do anything about a bad experience in a restaurant, but this was so bad how we were treated that I felt compelled to say something to someone, because the owner sure didn't care about any of it.
