Mark is honest and helpful and does the work right. He also treats people kindly. I pretty much bring my car here when I need work done, although I have to plan in advance because he is booked up a week or more beforehand. Most recently, I brought my old car in for brakes and possibly shocks and struts because it seemed to not bounce back after bumps like it used to. He told me I did not need shocks and only needed front struts and new brake pads. If I had walked in most places, especially as a woman, I would have probably been told I needed a thousand dollars of work, if not more. He sold me what I actually needed for about $500 and the old car has its bounce back. read more

I have been coming here for years and not only like them I trust the work they have done on both of my cars both past and present. If you need work done bring your automobile here or call them for a quote you will find them fair. If you are looking for standard oil changes the prices are a bit higher and they might tell you "you may be better off taking it elsewhere that they can't compete with the prices of the chains." Returned my call very quickly and was able to schedule both our cars for service. One was a simple oil change and check battery. Other the dealership had quoted me $$$ to repair/replace brakes and rotors. My car broke down last week in the Kroger parking lot. A very nice gentleman tried to help jump my car but was not successful. He recommended Duncan automotive and had nothing but wonderful things to say so I decided to give it a try myself. Needless to say the man was not wrong! Mark who helped me was beyond knowledgeable and nice! As a woman sometimes mechanics will make you feel stupid if you don't know anything about cars. Mark was the opposite! I had scheduled and coordinated for a few days for a tow truck to drop my vehicle off and the plans changed a couple times, every single time that I spoke to him he was friendly and kept assuring me that I could still drop my car off. He even put a cone in the lot to save me a spot. When I finally did drop my car off he got back to me within a day and let me know what the issues were with my vehicle. The previous mechanic I had taken my car to did not do a great job and Mark ended up having to fix an issue that was supposed to be done correctly already. He also found some sensor issues and replaced those for me as well. His prices were fair and the way he explained what was wrong with my vehicle to me was so informing and easy to understand. If you are in the west midtown / midtown area I would 100% recommend taking your car to his shop! I can't say enough good things about Duncan Automotive! They do a great job, have very reasonable prices and, most importantly, they are honest. As a female,I know that many car repair shops really take advantage if they think you don't know much about cars. Recently, a Honda dealership told my (female) friend that the car she was giving to her daughter needed over $3,000 worth of repairs. We took it to Duncan Automotive for a "second opinion" and Mark said several of the things Honda said were wrong were just fine and did not need repairs. When we moved to Atlanta my wife found Duncan Automotive on a recommendation from another long standing old time proprietor in the auto trade. Mark Duncan, mechanic, and his father, a retired NYC cop who organizes everything, are scrupulously honest and very reasonably priced. If you own an expensive brand for car parts like KIA or HYUNDAI say "goodbye and good riddance" to your dealer. They are quite amenable to letting you order new parts from one of the many web based auto parts dealers and putting them on for you. Be aware that at times they can be backed up for several days, so plan in advance and call first. Their shop is just off I-85 at Howell Mill. There is no price mark up on parts they buy for you. Its all labor at "time spent" -- no flat rate shop tables to inflate a one hour job into a billing for five hours. They start about 9 am. I usually book my job a day ahead, have the car there promptly and wait for it at one of the fast food restaurants in the area. read more
