This was on my follow-up appointment on February 14th, 2024. I could not see anything out of my left eye. My concerns were ignored by all individuals involved. I was treated extremely rudely. The response was. We'll see you tomorrow to do surgery on your next eye. I explained to them again I could not see out of my left eye and I did not want to proceed with the right eye until the left eye was corrected. They did not have any concern or care for loss of vision in my left eye. They kept trying to proceed with the surgery on my right eye the next day which I refused. They angrily canceled my surgery. I have never in my 66 years of life been treated so bad at a medical facility. I went to Oklahoma City to have my Right eye done at another eye center. I would not recommend young eye institute to anyone based off of my experience there. It was totally unprofessional.

Had eye exam. Bought glasses. Got glasses. Went on vacation. Tried new glasses. Noticed haze on…read morelens. Tried to clean. Could not remove grit from back side of lens, nothing on front of lens. Returned from vacation. Took glasses to office to either get glasses fixed or replaced. Head nurse/ associate said it has been to long for warranty replacement, however she was going to fixed under my free scratch warranty. I said no, I would prefer warranty repair, because the glasses came with the defect and I want to save my scratch repair if needed later. Head nurse/associate got defensive. She then said "How do I know you didn't do something to the glasses". I replied "Because I told you so", I tried to wear them only once. I then asked if she was implying that I was being less then truthful. I got no response. I then said I paid almost $400.00 for these glasses. I then laid the glasses on the counter and said either fix them or keep them. Later Dr Rice Jr. called me and said he was able, using a strong detergent to get them clean. I went, picked up my glasses. I have been using Dr Rice for a long time. I did not get an apology from the Nurse/ associate for implying that I was Less Than Truthful. Because of this, all of my family had to find another optometrist. Dr Rice exam and demeanor is first class. But, don't go there expecting simple respect from the staff.

When she finished exam, was told all exam not covered. Did other retinal imaging not covered and tried to get her to not use lens/frame benefit but pay $129 out of pocket! I called to try to handle while she was there and they ended up only not making her pay the $39 but she left with NO glasses! In the end, 2 hours later, she got absolutely nothing out of it to help her read. They couldn't tell me if they had any frames that were under her max cost and said lenses were $95, even with insurance! I've never had this issue til we moved her back to Lawton. So sad. This place was on Humana list of providers!! So sad to try to take advantage of an old woman with dementia.

My experience at Complete Eye Care-Lawton was unacceptable and feels like a scam. I want to warn…read moreothers before they end up in the same situation. We came in for an eye exam covered under TRICARE. The exam itself was fine, but when we were already checked out and about to leave, we reminded her that we wanted to order contacts. At that point, we were suddenly hit with a $150 charge for a "contact lens fitting." No one disclosed upfront that this would be an out-of-pocket expense not covered by TRICARE. Instead, the charge was added at the very end, after services were already performed. That is not transparency -- that is a bait-and-switch tactic. We called for weeks leaving voicemails checking on our prescription and no call back. ONLY when calling back we spoke to a representative that told us the contacts were never ordered and we were charged that fee which was never explained to us at all. To make matters worse, the employee checking us out, Karen, was rude and dismissive. She acted like she didn't want to be there or do her job. When we asked for a copy of our prescription (which is our legal right), she avoided giving it to us until we asked multiple times. By law (FTC Contact Lens Rule), providers are required to release prescriptions after fittings without patients having to beg for them. The fact that she withheld it until we pressed is extremely concerning and unprofessional. After leaving, I found other reviews describing the exact same problem -- people being charged $100-$150 at checkout with no proper explanation, and walking out with nothing but the trial lenses in their eyes. This shows a clear pattern of misleading billing practices and withholding prescriptions, not just an isolated mistake. Patients deserve honesty, respect, and compliance with the law. What we got instead was rudeness, surprise billing, and the feeling of being taken advantage of. If you're military or TRICARE, be especially cautious here. They advertise being in-network, but you will still get hit with hidden charges that TRICARE doesn't cover. I will be reporting this clinic to TRICARE, the Oklahoma Board of Optometry, and the FTC for investigation.
