This bar is very accommodating for large groups, we had a huge section of tables all pushed together to make sure people could sit with one another. Dundee's Place is the newest establishment from the owners of the former Old Dundee Bar & Grill, and it's clear they are local and have a knack for putting care into their food, and into their community/neighborhood. It definitely has a "bar" atmosphere, but don't let that fool you. The food coming out of the kitchen is far from bar food, and so much higher quality! The staff was awesome. Hannah was the bartender/server who was there when we popped in, and greeted us when we arrived, also letting us know their top items when we let her now it was our first time there. We had one alcoholic drink, since we were there for lunch and had errands to run - it was a purple shot (but we sipped it) called the Purple Thaaaang. It was delicious and just tasted like grape Kool Aid with hardly any alcohol flavor (dangerous!), and the proceeds from the sales of that drink went to the Omaha Women's Center for Advancement (so awesome). Now, on to the food. To start, we ordered the Crab Rangoon, which I had read in other reviews was excellent, and they were not wrong! The wonton wrappers were super thin, which made the Rangoons much easier to eat - I don't usually eat all the hard crispy points on Crab Rangoon (and only focus on the crab chunk at the bottom), but not here! I ate the wonton wrapper along with the crab and it was all delicious. Another item we wanted to try in terms of starters was the Broccoli Bites. These were so tasty, and almost were like a fried version of broccoli cheddar soup! Each fried bit is pretty large, so you may have to break it into a few bites. It comes with ranch for dipping, so just be sure you are with someone you're comfortable double-dipping with - LOL My husband and I both ordered burgers for our entrees, and they were burgers just like you'd have made on the grill in the backyard on summer nights. Deceptively simple, but well-seasoned and expertly cooked. Dundee's Place has excellent staff, affordable high quality eats, and a welcoming atmosphere for all. Arrived before 6 on a Friday evening with family. Very dark and a weird smell. Tvs were on. A few people sitting at the bar. Bartender quickly came to the table and got drink order and appitizer. I was able to sample a beer on tap. Chips and cheese appetizer hot homemade flour chips. Nacho cheese good filler waiting for our burgers but nothing special. I really enjoyed my cider. They had a very extensive list of beers. But some in it they didn't have so ask before you get your gear set on something. The burgers are delicious. Great seasoning and perfectly toasted bun. Remember the Old Dundee? It's back! Well, kind of. Dundee's Place brings a lot of charm from the Old Dundee, including bartenders, ownership, and food menu, to its new digs in Benson. While not nearly as spacious as the old location, they are apparently working on a second basement bar as well. Even despite it's somewhat isolated location near 70th and Maple, I think Dundee's Place will do just fine. On opening weekend, I saw quite a few familiar faces who frequented the Old Dundee. What's not to love? Stellar food, fast and on the cheap. Awesome beer and booze selection, great drink specials (the shot special on Sunday always reels me in), all the purple stuff you could ever want (seriously, ask for the purple drank, you'll fall in love. especially if you like Dixie cups ;) ). Sitting just outside of Benson this bar may not be in Dundee but it is just far enough off the beaten path to be left alone from some of the less desirable Benson weekenders, but still lively and entertaining. There's always a spot on the jukebox for your favorite jam, and pinball and darts if you're feeling up for a game. MOST importantly though is the staff at this joint. Preserving many of our favorites from the old ODB (RIP), the bartenders go above and beyond not only to provide a great experience, but to maintain a safe, secure bar setting everyone can enjoy, even with a packed house. As a regular bar patron I've seen it all, from fights to harassment to pukers to gang activity... you name it. This is one of the rare gems of a bar I can go to and know I'm not going to get messed with. I can't thank the staff enough for their commitment to a positive experience. Special shoutouts to Hanna, the love and light of Dundee's, Jeremy for a good laugh and enlightening conversation, Eric for his attentive service and good company, and of course Mindy, who never fails to make you feel welcomed and appreciated. I've bean eating at Dundee Place for past year! I live in Benson Omaha Nebraska. With all the different restaurants along the strip Dundee Place has proven to be my most consistent favorite for takeout food service! I recommend trying the crab Rangoon as well as the tacos! I usually don't like to base a lot of a place's rating on the service, but the bartender here made us feel like locals pretty much instantly. He was a great conversationalist, and very helpful to us out-of-towners. The beer selection was also a big plus and the FOOD?! Just what these road-weary travelers needed! I had the Anaheim burger, which had a nice heat, and my wife had two tacos. My fries were hand cut and didn't stay on my plate long. I picked up dinner here last night. Their special was a jerked pork sandwich that was super tender, flavorful, and so plentiful I ate what fell off the sandwich for breakfast. My favorite part of the whole meal was the pineapple and scotch bonnet pepper relish - not too spicy, and full of the flavors of Caribbean food. The cherry on top was that it came with fried plantains and I absolutely love fried plantains. I also tried some buffalo wings and they were very good. Exactly the size I like, crispy skin, and perfectly cooked. The sauce had the right amount of heat, and wasn't as overly vinegary as some can be. Food was ready quickly, and brought to my car right away. Happy I called them, look forward to doing it again. read more

Not long ago, The Old Dundee Bar & Grill (commonly shortened to ODB by regulars) was a staple of the midtown area, a destination for students, aging hipsters and young urban professionals looking to mingle and enjoy some of the best local bar food in the reasonable price range. I spent a birthday or two there with a burger, a beer and good friends over the years, I can tell you. When it closed, I was as wistful as the next drinker over its demise and the uncertainty it brought to my future social plans. Luckily for all and sundry, what was once the ODB is reborn as Dundee's Place Bar & Grill (DP maybe?). It's a new location in a new walking neighborhood just a stone's throw or three to the north in burgeoning and bucolic-ish Benson-near-72nd. I stopped by Dundee's Place recently to see the new digs and quite liked it. If you were worried about the move, let me put your fears to rest by saying they have preserved the feel and the history of The ODB in the DP from the old 49'r and Old Dundee signage to the pub grub menu. It is still good.   Located in a solid old school stripmall just two blocks east of the intersection of 72nd and Maple Street where Fusion and Bruce Leroy's once strove to succeed, Dundee's Place is outside the corral of Benson's current main drag, but close enough to be part of any reasonable bar crawl. It's also positioned to be in the vanguard as the fun bits of Benson expand eastward. It has its own large lot and plenty of side street parking, distinguishing it from the limelight area. Eric Franz was a fixture at ODB and is still manning the taps at DP. He's great for a recommendation if you need one of several dozen constantly rotating selections from the cooler. He's a good conversationalist and really enjoy customers. Eric's recommendation to me was a canned Cucumber Crush Sour, a Berliner Weissbier from 10Barrel Brewing Co. Refreshing and a nice accompaniment to my black bean quesadilla. Taps include Stella Artois, Magners Irish Cider, Boulevard Wheat, Odell IPA, Code, Bud Light, Shiner Cheer, PBR and Guinness Stout. I tried the Shiner Cheer, a seasonal Dunkelweizen,  a reddish brown beer with a smooth fruity, malty flavor like a Christmas in Germany. Ask to see their comprehensive drinks menu. It reads like a Victor Hugo novel about beer and spirits. Happy hours are 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday featuring $2 well drinks, $2 domestic drafts and $1 off everything else. Mondays mean $2 Busch Light, $3 Captain Morgan and Jack Daniels with $6 pork tenderloins and fries. Tuesday it's $2 Hamm's, $3.50 calls and $6 Wings. Wednesday is $2 domestic drafts, $3 craft draws, $4 import draws and $2 beef tacos. Thursday is $2 Miller High Life, $2 Wells and $6 pulled pork and fries. The Sunday special is $2 PBR's, $3.50 vodka Red Bull, buy a shot get a shot for a dollar and $6 burger and fries.   The kitchen is open till 1:30 a.m. and that feature alone should get you to try it. The bartender who promptly greeted my friend and I, delivered great service and great drinks and I'm glad to see that the chef was even making conversation that kept us laughing all the way through our meal and not to mention the place itself has been named a few things in the past but this was the cleanest up-to-date bar I've seen on the corner of maple Street. Food: We had the Cuban and the Club sandwiches. Both served with steak fries and toasted bread... Very good. Roasted pork on the Cuban was obviously homemade, and the Club was packed with many layers of paper thin ham and turkey. Would order either again. Price: Excellent value. We both left full. Service: Bar service was great, no table service. Took off a star for this. Would really like to order from the table. Overall: Happy we have a new neighborhood bar. read more

Terrible first experience. Keeping in mind it is St Patty's Day, they were still offering their full menu so myself and partner each ordered a burger. There were empty tables and most people just seemed to be drinking. After 45 minutes and at least 3 other tables arriving, receiving their orders, finishing their food, and leaving, we inquired about our order and were told the kitchen was busy and our food would be out "soon". After another 10 minutes, the bartender comes to our table and offers us another round of drinks as the "printer got unplugged" in the back and the cooks were just starting to cook our food. We accepted and waited another 20 minutes and our food finally arrived. The burgers were overcooked and we were unimpressed with our entire experience. We were still charged the full price for our food and not offered any other apology. If the staff couldn't handle the full menu, they should have only been offering st. Patty's day specials so they could get them out at a reasonable time and not forget about orders. Disappointing experience and will not be returning. read more

I'd seen this place for ages but never stopped. Finally one night we were looking for late food and stopped in. So happy we did. The service is amazing, Timmy the owner is amazing I had the Reuben which for $8 came with some solid thick cut fries which was fabulous & my boyfriend had 2 tacos which were massive and filled him up. We randomly decided to try this place for dinner and I am so glad we did! It has the dive bar atmosphere and casual feel to it with amazing bar food. You order up at the bar instead of table service. I decided to try the pork tenderloin sandwich with all the toppings plus mayo. It was SO GOOD. I mean this thing was something that I will find myself craving I enjoyed it so much. The tenderloin exceeded the bun in size just like a good tenderloin should. The fries were fresh cut and you could tell in the taste. I would definitely recommend this place for some awesome bar food! read more

We often ate at the Old Dundee bar and grill. I was pleased when I happened upon their new location in Benson last fall. Unfortunately, I am not sure if they have the same chef or not but I do not think the food is as good. The burgers used to be juicy. Last 2 I had were dry. The potatoes are still good. I mostly get the tacos or quesadilla with beef. They have NO flavor. I don't know if they need to add taco seasoning or what, but definitely not the same. Also the taco shells are often cold and greasy. Maybe the chef has some made up ahead but I like it when they are hot and fresh off the grill. Someone commented the pork tenderloin was great. My husband had it and could barely find the meat it was so thin. I think if they make a few changes it will all be good again. The staff is nice for the most part. There is one guy I don't like who left me standing at the bar to pay my bill for 5 minutes . I guess I am not young and cute to pay attention to. There is one bartender who is the Best. I will get his name and post it. He always remembers what we drink and is kind and very efficient. read more

I found a great little place in Benson to catch a cold beer, have a quick snack and just meet some nice people. Dundee's Place, which comes from a line of bars to include the 49er, a moment of silence...and the Old Dundee that was on Dodge St, is a great little spot in Benson. It is in a great location, as I can hit it on my way out of Benson or catch the last beer of the night on my way back through Benson since I live in the area. The bartenders are great, the food is good and we always have a nice conversation with someone from the area whenever we stop by. I like that it is a real ecclectic group of people and having a kitchen open until 1:30a doesn't suck either. This place is a nice little watering hole that is perfect for the Benson area, we are happy to have a piece a Dundee come our way. Having the purple thang shot on pour is a nice shout out to the past, as I always loved the 49er and was sad when it went away. I would encourage anyone in the area to stop by this small, but neat, clean and dynamic pub, it is well worth the stop. read more
