I have been a rookies fan for years. Especially since Niel and Jason took over. They've revamped the place AND the menu. Rookies has a ton of different items to order. It can get loud, especially during games. It's a great local business to support where they will remember your face for next time! A solid sports bar and grill! Service has always been quick and polite and they have some great food! Their boneless wings are super meaty and huge -- a really big fan of them. Probably my favorite boneless wings in town. The fried pickles and onion rings are so good! You can tell they're made in house. The breading is just delicious. The ranch here is also pretty solid which makes everything that much better. Wish we would have stumbled into this place sooner! They have NFL Sunday ticket so a great place to watch a game. This place was remodeled a few years ago with new owners. It's a nice, friendly neighborhood bar. This place feels like a small town bar in the city. The staff is absolutely amazing, very attentive. Upon walking in, the bartender asked my husband's name and introduced himself, later in the night the bartender came to the patio and lo and behold, asked asked him by name if we wanted a menu. Came on a whim while I was staying in Omaha. This is definitely a neighborhood bar, but that's what makes it unique. Neil who is the owner, Will the bartender, and all the patrons were super friendly. Even to an outsider. First thing Neil did when I walked up to the bar was introduce himself because he didn't know/recognize me. Food was delicious. Got onion rings as my app and a mushroom Swiss burger with sweet potato fries. Everything was phenomenal. Bar is very clean, and they have plenty of pool Tables and dart boards if that's you're thing. Will be back my next time in Omaha. read more

Love this bar and grill. Most of the food is made fresh to order and the drinks are reasonably priced. Love that they have free pool and lots of dart boards. Apparently Rookie's has been around awhile. I personally had no idea. Don't bother looking at anything online besides reviews written in the last year. A husband and wife team took over Rookies and has changed pretty much everything. It must be a good thing because the place was packed on a Wednesday night. I had a chance to speak to the husband who reported they don't use any frozen products and don't even have a freezer in the kitchen. Or a microwave! They hand slice the pickles for the fried pickle appetizer and hand pound pork tenderloin to order. It was clear the food is tasty by the amount of it coming out of the kitchen. The kitchen did get a little jammed up and my to go order took quite awhile, but this is not a deterrent to me returning. The husband and wife team were both handling pretty much all of the front of house duties and overall were doing a great job. Maybe someone was out or maybe they just did not expect such a crowd. The drinks were quick to come out. The fried pickles were delicious with their homemade ranch and spicy ranch. I got the taco basket with tots to go and it was great. Highly recommend checking out Rookies! read more

We had their Chicken Fried Chicken dinners Tuesday night. They were great. Staff was great and everyone kept there distance.

A friend of mine recently had his 30th birthday party at Rookies. I'd never been here or heard of it before that. Based on the name, I figured it was a sports bar, but I think they need to change the name to Veterans or 30-day disabled list, because this place is not for people who are new to professional drinking. While the rest of the bars in Omaha continue to have lame drink specials like $5 pints of miller lite (I didn't know a pint was 12 oz, until I moved here), Rookies has good regular prices like $5 pitchers of beer all the time or $10 buckets. Plus, the drink specials really are special, and your behavior will be just as special by the end of the night. They have karaoke on Saturday nights, and it was good karaoke, not just some dude with every song by Neil Diamond plus today's freshest country hits either. I ate a taco bar that they had arranged for my buddy's birthday, which was excellent, but I'm not sure if that was on par with their usual fare or not. I intend to return in order to find out. read more

This place is not a sports bar as the name may suggest. It is a dive bar. It has a very limited selection of beer, and it feels like the place hasn't seen a remodeling since the early 80s. I rarely give a 1 star rating, but when they served me beer in a hot glass just out of the dish washer, well, that's unforgivable. The beer prices are inexpensive and it's never been busy the few times I have been there. read more

Drinks are cheap and the staff is super friendly. If you want a place to watch Sunday football and have it feel as close to being home on the couch as possible, it doesn't get much better. They don't serve food on Sundays, so I can't speak to the menu or the "nightlife", but the environment is laid back, regulars and staff are welcoming, and everyone pretty much gets their own tv. It's got that neighborhood bar feel where you feel like family but also your average sports bar feel with tons of TVs for all of your sports needs. The food is amazing, especially the burgers, nachos, pizza, wings and fried pickles. The staff there are friendly and always make sure they your needs are met. You'll always have a fresh drink ready for you before you even finish the one before. The staff also engaged in conversation and ensures that you have everything you need. Rookies has tons of drink and food specials each night of the week. It's affordable and great place for any occasion. The remodel really gave the place a ton of character. I understand they have changed ownership within the last couple years. I can't speak to how it was before but my husband and I really liked this place. We went on a Tuesday night upon recommendation of their chicken fried chicken special. HUGE portion! The mashed potatoes and grilled green beans were so fresh and yummy. The breading was crisp, not greasy and I loved the gravy. Ate more than I should have (did I mention huge?). My husband got a hamburger which was also solid.
