Love the vibes of this place. Very casual with prices to match. There is a huge open area with plenty of seating and places to hang out and play darts. I love that they provide a drink menu and shot menu. The prices are great. And for being known as a bar, they have amazing food. I was pleasantly surprised on how good the smoked chicken thighs were. The service was average. If you're a female looking to be treated with equality, don't waste your time. My group was overcharged and there were supposed complaints that our party was "too loud" I'm sure the same rules don't apply to any male customers. My party was seated outside. Too loud? Everyone who was seated outside were laughing and interacting. Nice to know all are not treated equally. As an added insult, we were overcharged and the staff refused an itemized receipt. As a customer I have gone there many times throughout the last 15 years. Never again. You all should be ashamed for treating your customers like this. read more

I came here on a recommendation that this is one of the best bars food-wise, and it was definitely good! The cheese curds were a little more liquidy than I prefer, but I am picky about these. Wings were perfect and the ranch had a great flavor! I wish they had carrots instead of/in addition to celery. The burger (not pictured) was on special, and was probably the most impressive item taste-wise, the bun had a great flavor, and the meat blend was moist and flavorful. The only issue I had was my martini was either made with a cheaper vodka (I asked for Tito's) or far too strong--it did not taste like a well balanced lemon drop and I had to chug but of course was not about to waste it! Overall a good spot food-wise, I probably ventured too far on the drink list and would stick to a beer next time. Ordered a bunch of take out because I saw a recommendation for their philly. Unfortunately worst philly I've ever had. Big pieces of gray beef. Not sure if there was peppers or anything else because it was so bland, I took a bite and was done. It was basically a gross French dip with no dip. We have lived in this neighborhood for over 20 years and never eaten here but we finally tried it tonight. We really enjoyed the food and service. I had the avocado chicken sandwich. The chicken was moist and tasty and the guacamole was delicious. My husband had a jalapeño burger which was also very tasty. Be warned! The jalapeños have a kick! Not my favorite spot in Omaha but it will do the trick. More of a divey neighborhood spot but with a cleaned up feel. There is Keno, arcade games, bar food and a decent beer selection. The patio is nice (for the damn smokers! Get with it Omaha!) and the bar inside always seems to have some regulars keeping in down. I have no idea this place existed, though I'd been to Rivera's (in the same strip mall) several times and I probably would have continued on never knowing Phoenix existed. But a birthday party invitation changed that... I had no idea what to expect from Phoenix, and I have to admit that the name scared me a little (that coupled with the location had me ready for a fake-swank club atmosphere). But nothing to fear, this is 'old West Omaha', and the Phoenix has a great neighborhood vibe inside. The staff was very friendly, and buffet food was good (for the birthday party), but I'd like to go back sometime and order off the menu. And while there were the obligatory patrons drinking and playing darts or watching one of the many TVs surrounding the bar area, several groups appeared to have come in for the food alone, in family sit-down dinner style. I made it through the night without food poisoning. Phew. First off I am not normally a harsh critic and it's never my intent to slay a business but if there's any chance management even reads these things they probably want to know my experience. I think the poor bartender and the cook were the only people there or I would have asked for a manager I needed a quick bite after the gym and saw pinpoint $10 off. Ordered grilled chicken salad (prob not any bar/grille forte). I even felt guilty ordering something below $10 so I asked for a side of sweet potato fries. I eat pretty healthy so asked for salsa and ranch on side as dressings. The over worked and stressed bartender took my order and verified the half order of fries. Food came out quick but the salsa tasted very vinegary- almost rancid. I know that taste from my college days of that old bottle of Pace in the back of my fridge. Switched it up and used some mustard off the table as I didn't want to ask for a different dressing since she was so busy. Halfway through salad (some questionable lettuce pieces and missing peppers) it was confirmed the fries were forgotten. She asked if I still wanted and I said don't worry about it since I was in a rush. Asked for box for my salad which was now totally free and waited for bill. She was completely buried and changing out the keg so I waited a bit The icing on top was now noticing the mustard was 2 months expired. UGH. I mentioned to her on the way out and left a meager tip (sorry bartender) I would never return unless management reaches out for a free meal to come back and then I would try something a little more bar/grill. Friday evenings are usually packed. Luckily I scored 4 seats at the bar with some ladies I was with. It wasn't 4 to start, but the patrons are so kind and are regulars that they all wanted to work out seating arrangements for us so we could all sit together. The male working the bar (that night) tended to us right away and made sure to check in on us when our alcoholic beverages were low. Even though he was not a server, his service was great. I ordered a Long Island iced tea. It was definitely one of the better ones I've had - TOP 5! We also ordered food/snacks - they came out really fast despite how busy it was. I ordered the sweet potato fries. It was something to hold me over until dinner, but the portion was HUGE. I had to share it and I'm not really into sharing my food, ha! My only suggestion is that the sweet potato fries have better seasoning. Some people prefer salty, but I prefer sweet; maybe add an option for carmelized brown sugar seasoning? I have stopped here a few times after work for drinks with colleagues. It seems like your standard bar and grill. Nothing to spectacular about it. They have your standard happy hour discounts. Bar: Fully stocked. Beer Selection: Ho-hum if you ask me. Standard "big boy" brewers with your typical (for the area) craft brewers sprinkled in (Boulevard and New Belgium.) They also have a handful of beers on tap. Food: Standard pub fare. Grilled/fried etc... nothing that jumps out at you. Atmosphere: U-shaped bar that can accommodate 12-15 people. The rest of the space is devoted to a small gaming area (darts and a hunting game last time i was there,) and table seating. There is enough room to combine tables to accommodate larger groups. There are several TVs around tuned to the required ESPN/FOX Sports. Did I mention they have Keno (exciting huh!) Phoenix Food and Spirits is a true neighborhood bar. I have been dragged to this place several times by friends, each time kicking and screaming. The last 4 were the worst. The service has always been bad. The waitresses almost always act like they are extremely annoyed to have to deal with any customers. The food is actually pretty good when you finally get it. The Karaoke guy Steve who is there on Wednesdays if memory serves, is cool as heck and a lot of fun. He does plenty of shows around town so find him elsewhere, his shows are not to be missed. Here is the rub, and here is why I never will go back if I can help it. DO NOT let their waitresses open you a tab. The waitresses will push you and push you to "just start a tab." Do not do this pay cash always and pay per drink. Four times I have been there, other drinks mysteriously appeared on my tab and the tabs of my friends. In addition these people get belligerent as heck when you bring it to their attention. The second to the last time my buddy and I get dragged there by friends and we watched as a table of guys walked out on there tab of four pitchers. I told my buddy, "Watch those will be on our tabs." low and behold whose tabs had pitchers on them (I only drink whiskey and my buddy only drinks captain and diet.) I can understand a "mistake" being made once maybe twice but on repeated occasion? I think not. In Summation. The liquor selection is good for a neighborhood bar, the jukebox isn't bad, and the food is pretty good for standard bar fare. However, the service is terrible, the wait staff is obnoxious and if you go, only pay per drink and only pay cash. read more

It is Christmas Day Night. For some reason my husband and I are starving so we call this bar in hopes their kitchen is open. We called at 9:55...the kitchen closed at 10 and they STILL took our takeout order. I love this bar and it is 1 mile from our home but now, I feel like tonight they went out of their way to help out this hungry couple. I love their menu and I've never had a bad experience here. Went here for our normal Thursday nite outing. We normally do Oscars, but we tried this for something new. Turns out that Thursday is all you can eat Tacos! Had 7 of them puppies, and they were all good. All 9 of us enjoyed our food when we finally got some service. Our first waitress was horrible. Just totally ignored us. Would even walk the other way when she would see us signalling that we needed something. Luckily she dumped us off on another waitress, and she was great. We gave her a good tip for the good service. Phoenix is a pretty good place to get a beer but just an average place for dinner. The menu consisted of the standard bar fare like burgers, sandwiches, pizza, tacos, etc. It even had a few not so ordinary choices like featherbones. While I liked the look of the place along with the huge tv and the jukebox, the food wasn't anything special. I tried the BLT and it was good but it's pretty hard to mess up bacon, lettuce, and tomato on some bread. I also tried the pizza. It was a little too cheesy and the sauce a tad on the sweet side. It's similar to the pizza at Romeo's. The prices are pretty good and the beer is on par with other places ($4 for a Blue Moon). The servers were on the slow side but they were friendly enough. I didn't encounter any issues with my bill. I'll probably go back to Phoenix for a few drinks and a snack but I wouldn't go here for dinner. read more

This is a bar in a strip mall and the reasons why bars in strip malls exist, I think, is because in the end, it doesn't really matter where you hang out as long as you're with your friends you'll have a good ole' time. I will say though, our waitress was outstanding and catered to our multiple location changes, followed us around and served us with a huge smile all night long. Thank you lady with the smile, I'm sorry I forgot your name, but maybe I would go to this place more regularly because of you, and the fact that there's a Mega-Touch machine there. Service has been declining for months. Last time I was there, did not get a greeting from the bartenders nor did they say thanks for coming. I know there are people that spend way more money here than I do but I spent a decent amount weekly and often recommended this place to others. No more. My boyfriend and I tried this place out tonight. It's definitely a bar atmosphere, but there were at least three couples with young children. The bar is dark and set back to the side. There are at least 6 TVs up and around the eating area. They have a jukebox. They have darts and a pool table. The place is spacious and comes across as clean and inviting. I think that our mistake was going there just to eat, which is why I only rated it "Meh." Our waitress was cheerful and prompt. My bf ordered the Mushroom Burger with waffle fries, and I ordered the Phoenix Burger (with cheese) and fries. Now, to be fair, the menu does state that the burgers will be cooked "medium well." However, "medium well" they were not. Ever been distracted while cooking burgers, and suddenly realize, "Oh no...they've been on for about 5 minutes too long!" Well. Our burgers went beyond "medium well" into that "Oh no!" range. Mine reminded me unpleasantly of school cafeteria food from when I was in elementary school...absolutely no seasoning, cooked to a flat gray-brown, and on the verge of inedible. Best thing about the burger was the toasted bun. The accompaniments (lettuce, tomato, pickle, onion) were relatively fresh. The fries were all right, but desperately needed salt. I'm sad to say that I feel like we completely wasted $20 on those hamburgers. I hate wasting food, and I didn't even want a leftover box. (I think microwaving my leftover cheeseburger and trying to nuke that burger back to edibility would have potentially created some sort of zombie food. Shudder.) We are going to try again at some point (while avoiding the burger selections like the plague). We'll likely see what their mixed drinks are like, and give their dartboard and pool table a workout. Right now, I can't recommend their food with any conviction...but perhaps other entrees will lead to an updated and improved review. read more

Went in on a Sunday night on a whim between events. It had been awhile since I have been in The Phoenix and really not much has changed in side. Still a pretty cozy spot. Ordered a mixed drink and it was served in a pint glass. I usually have to ask for this. I am not looking for more booze-I just would rather have it in a pint glass. So that was good for me personally. They had a 55 cent wing special running on this night. So I ordered six wings. They were delivered in good time and hot and fresh. They came with celery and blue cheese and were very satisfying and of the right size (I think large wings are not as good as smaller wings like these). Staff was causal, hanging out and talking with each other, checked on me but was not overboard. It was sparsely populated on this night-but I have driven by the place on weekends and it looked jam packed. Good experience. read more

This bar is essentially a small town Fox Sports Grill. Everything is pretty standard sports bar but not with much seating for those who want to have something to eat.
