This company tried to sell me a unit or at least a coil without even cleaning the drain or anything. They came out quickly but then the guy said he didn't clean the drain cause he knew by the air pressure that the coil was bad. Gave us a quote for the coil of nearly $4K and said we might wanna consider a new unit, given the age of our unit. That estimate was $9K. We had another company come out and they cleaned the drain, said the coil was fine and that was it! Glad I followed my instincts! Beware and get a second opinion before succumbing to this companies tricks. read more

I wanted to share my recent experience with Dunedin Refrigeration regarding my air conditioning unit, which malfunctioned during the hurricane last Thursday. Although a technician was dispatched, he was unable to resolve the issue because the shop was without power and was experiencing flooding. I appreciate that they could still send a senior technician to my home early Monday morning. Ac has been having issues, with going below 76. called dunedin refrigeration. first tech came and left and within 1 hour entire unit was off. never was the issue before. it was just that it wouldnt go below 76. dunedin refirgeration sent tech back out and suddenly my capacitor blew. more money to spend. ac licked back on. but never went below 81. never was the issue before. it was just not able to go below 76. called dunedin refridgeration back again. sent out another tech. told me i need a entire new unit. i knew it was old. i said ok write me up a quote. and lets go. was told wait a few hours. never got a quote. called and they said thwy were busy and to wait another hour for quote. went a whole day without a quote or call back. called different company this morning at 745am. and they are almost done replacing entire ac now 5 hours later. dunedin refridgeration ended the last of life the ac had. then never called back. no quote. left my family with no ac. they did call to collect money prior to them fixing my air prior to the 3rd service call arriving. no other contact has been made. 1 star because i had to write a quote. NO HELP OR CONSIDERATION AT ALL. read more

I was behind one of their trucks in traffic today. Waited through 10 minutes of lights that stretched less than a quarter mile to have some other vehicle bum rush the merge lane and try to plow in the side of my car. Dunedin refrigeration rewarded the entitled car by slamming on their breaks in front of me and then hand waiving them on to get in front of them. Clearly the mentality of the people working here is arrogant by shamelessly reward entitled drivers. I have unfortunately had to replace HVAC Systems in 3 different homes over the last 12 years. Used them a few times and it was always good and professional.. TODAY (however) I was told a technician comes between 12pm - 5pm. This was all scheduled yesterday. Its now past 5.30pm and still nobody in sight. I've called twice with no decent help. Last call was a complete additional waste of my time. The lady had no information until I finally just asked her after she is being quiet if she'd help or was just listening to me moan. She said she was just listening to me moan.. lol So now I'm rating a 1 and will never use them again for anything. If they cant schedule right nor help a customer or even pretend to care.. . I had my air conditioner replaced by Dunedin Refrigeration on July 1, 2020 and cannot say enough positive things about the installers, Seth, John G. and the electrician, John. They were all very professional and personable. Seth answered all of the questions I had about the unit and both he and John worked diligently to complete the install. We asked if the slab under the old compressor could be moved to the back of the house and Seth had it back there in no time. AC has been out for better part of 6 days now. They have visited 3 times so far and are coming back a 4th time to hopefully actually fix something. So far we've spent $400 and had some refrigerant added and capacitor changed; however the problem persists. I don't mind paying when a problem gets fixed, but I don't think they do any real diagnosis, but just keep charging for services. I feel like I should let them continue to work on things since they have been out so many times, but I'm left feeling a bit like a fool for allowing them to continue working on my AC. Hopefully it gets fixed soon. Update: Fourth visit resulted in them saying that they really don't know what the problem is, "perhaps I just have temp set too low?" I could get that if I could get my house under 80 for more than 24 hours before it freezes up. Guess I'll try to find somebody else when it stops again. Should be soon. read more

We have been clients of Dunedin Refrigeration for nearly 20 years. Recently our AC system was having problems and after 4 service calls and over $1,000.00 in various repairs over several weeks, they pronounced it dead. We purchased a new system from them for over $6,000.00. The new system shut down 3 times, each time they made repairs ("installed improperly", "clogged drain", "missing part") that worked for a few days then shut down again. 4th repair visit they advise that they need a new drain line which was not included with the installation??? They installed the new drain line today, and tried to bill us $400.00. We are not sure if the problem is fixed, BUT WE WILL NEVER USE OR RECOMMEND DUNEDIN REFRIGERATION AGAIN! This last time I said no to the $500 repair and has another company check out the system and the second company said the systems were fine. Just WOW! Got 3 quotes (each one worse then the last) with a butchers bill of whats wrong running over $1200 taking 4 to 5 hours to fix. last spring our ac unit died a rapid death after 20 years. we had 4 companies come out to give us estimates as it was during the warmer part of spring before it turned cool again. 2 companies said we did not need new duct work that was from 1954 and one company said they only do duct work in the winter. we choose dunedin refrigeration for their honesty, professional demeanor and the fact that they loaned us a unit until they could do ours the following week as this all happened on a friday. they brought the unit down out of the attic, replaced all the nasty duct work and installed ane entirely new system over 3 days. my question to the other companies was who puts in a new ac system with 40+ year old duct work to send all that nasty stuff through the new system. we are beyond thrilled with the new system dn the fact that our power bills are averaging nearly $50 less every month. the attic must have been really nice and cool. i highly recommend this company. i also like supporting local businesses. read more

I have a house in Dunedin and called Dunedin Refrigeration to help me install a Honeywell WiFi thermostat. This thermostat allows monitoring and adjustment remotely and I live in Michigan. I couldn't find the "C" wire to provide power for my thermostat and I called them to see if they could help me. She told me that they would only sell me a thermostat and it would cost me approximately $650. I already had my $150 thermostat from Home Depot and all I needed was to have one wire appropriately connected. I went online and figured it out myself. I took an existing wire and connected it to the C terminal in my thermostat and then connected the other end to the C connection on the terminal board. It took me about 2 hours to figure it out but if I had to do it again it would have taken me 30 minutes tops. They are scammers and money hungry and would only think about helping me if I paid a $95 service call to see what I needed. She gave me some BS about how the Honeywell thermostat wouldn't be compatible with my equipment. I used to use someone else in Dunedin but had forgotten who and called these guys in a pinch. They came over right awasy but they screwed me by overcharging on an AC condenser. It was 2 years old and they told me it was shot. I figured out later that it wasn't. I have used another local company (who I can't promote) before and after. Fairer prices and you don't feel financially raped. DO NOT RECOMMEND. read more

We can't say enough good things about these people. We recently were in the market for a new A/C. We got several quotes, theirs was by far the best & very competitive. Their salesman, Dan, was courteous and professional and gave us excellent advice. When we were finally ready to instal, the folks that came out were great: because we ordered in winter, we were assigned TWO teams and our A/C went in in ONE day! Talk about service! Fantastic! They also replaced all our ducts, moved the A/C to a better location in our attic, and replaced the air handler. The staff were professional and courteous. He performed the work in a timely manner. He cleaned up after the work was completed. He gave me an estimate before he started the work. We have used Dunedin Refrigeration for years...maybe around 20 years. You know how you might be leery of being sold a "bill of goods"? You wonder if you can trust the folks they send out to work on you system. Well, over the years we have had them provide annual maintenance and finally did replace our old heat pump. We've been satisfied, but the kicker is that some A/C company went to check out my sister-in-law's system. She picked someone who might have been soliciting business, I don't recall, but after they checked her system she needed costly repairs. Now, she lives in a pretty upscale condo...so maybe she was seen a "low hanging fruit". She called my wife and my wife told her to call Dunedin Refrigeration. The guy checked her system and all she needed was some inexpensive part...cost was next to nothing. We've had different repair guys from Dunedin Refrigeration over the years and they ought to put "honesty is the best policy" embroidered on their shirt because seems to be their underlying business principle. Last week they came for the annual maintenance and the service man noticed our compressor is not 100%...it makes a little noise...I do mean a little. I asked if this was a sign of near term failure of our system. He called another more experienced technician who checked it out and confirmed there was a little noise, but all the measurements showed no problem. So we are to hang tough until it does show some real issues with sound, amps used, unacceptance pressures, etc. Now I don't know anything about heat pumps, so I could easily have been convinced to spend some serious $$. You know...not one, but two technicians, and sensible advice. The cost? Just the standard maintenance charge. Like I said "straight shooters". read more

They installed a new AC system and their staff was highly skilled, personable and made sure everything up to code rather than taking shortcuts. All challenges with electrical wiring were taken care of at no extra charge. Their office takes care of registering our warranty and will advise us of any rebates. I used Dunedin Refrigeration 10 years ago to install a new Trane air handler & Compressor in my villa. After the initial install the unit ran well for about 5 years. The unit began to freeze up & I called them, they sent a tech out who smoked non stopped & talked on his cell phone the entire time he was here. He found no problem and left. The next evening my a/c once again froze. I called them again, this time one of the brothers who owns the company came out, still found no problem & left. The next day once again it froze, this time I demanded an educated tech, they sent out Dave the head tech who in minutes found a freon leak on the air handler. He repaired it & the problem was solved. It took 3 trips that I had to pay for in before they found the problem. Unless you request Dave the head tech to come out do not call this company. They hire the absolute worse people. As far as Trane, my Compressor just burned out after 10 years & had to be replaced. I also have neighbor who had the same unit installed shortly after mine 10 years ago & hers also burned out a few weeks ago. I would not recommend Dunedin Refrigeration or Trane products to anyone. I now use a different a/c company who I am very happy with. read more
