Cox Heating and Air installed three AC units in my new home construction seven years ago and they have handling our semiannual service since then. We have been extremely pleased with their responsiveness and service levels. Today, we had James out for a regular service call. He is always very professional and thorough - spending extra time to make sure that all of our units are running in top condition. I was really disappointed with this company. I chose them because they install Carrier. I informed the girl wheb making the appt what the issue was and the error code. Tech came COMPLETELY UNAWARE of what the issue was, and spent his time learning about the machine and on the phone with his office. Mind you their service call for a half hour is $135. This guy didn't know what the problem was despite spending an hour outside, including sitting on the unit itself for 10 minutes. I kept asking what the issue is, and he wouldn't tell me. After the hour, he came in, STILL did not tell me the issue...and asked me "what did the last guy say"... i told him and he said, " yeah that's the problem".....riiiiight! No proof, no input, didn't even open the air handler to check anything. Quoted me $1,400+ dollars for what I said was the issue!!!! I'm not even sure that's the problem. We had a service provider show up for a pre paid service visit. The gentleman told us that he discovered mold! Our health was in imminent danger. An ultraviolet Light would get rid of the mold. not honest. They told us we needed a new motor on a 4 year old unit. Called Nolan air and they said the whole unit runs perfect. The air duct was drawing air from the outside. Easy fix im just glad Im smart enough to google about problems. FYI Very helpful to prevent getting ripped off! Do not trust this company! I had them come out to my property and they did a horrible job, whoever is running this company needs to fix staffing and friendliness, the guy who came out was very rude and showed lack that he wanted to even help me with a new air condition unit for my 3-2 house. Tech Dan came out to my house very quickly however was extremely unprofessional and spoke poorly about other customers. He had repaired the system for about two hours and when it broke I gave them a call and he stated he would come back out the next day. Never came. I called to speak with the manager who told me he could not refund me and of my money (over $300) because they made a diagnosis. I had said I would not want to use their service and they had someone calling me telling me they can come back to repair my AC for another $600. After many years of using another well-known A/C company, I called Carrier for highest rated "President's Award" dealer in my area and discovered COX Air and had them come out and give me an estimate on new A/C system, which was at least a thousand less than prior company I was using. 1 Day installation, everything working and great! So I read the owners comment, he wrote me today at 804 am and then at 852 am and I work....he never gave me the time to even get back to him before he wrote a response today and accusing my review to be unverifiable. Then the email asked me to consider removing the review after this -nope! trust me we have a full inspection report to back up what I say about the rat waste on our AC units, it being left open, and also record of The AC companies 'service ' a few weeks ago. I would question any company that said I never responded with the service address when they ask for it at 852 am, then later write a response the same day saying I failed to provide them with the info. Bad service and bad quality of equipment installed. Cox has a long history in the community but, they do not have friendly customer service. Equipment was installed in less than 2 hours. Had numerous service calls and had to have special order placed for malfunctioning equipment, when it was less than 90 days old. Wow... Just wow. The service that you provided was amazing. Hands down one of the best service in any small or large businesses that I have encountered. Even though it's just an A/C Company, they treat their customers like family. Responses to any customer questions are answered almost immediately and if they can't answer the question they will do research and reply within a timely manner with an accurate decision. Their installation is as good as if they were installing in their own home. I had to get a full A/C replacement in my home and the process went as smooth as butter. Upper management even came by to check up on the installation and made sure I was satisfied. The Technician was very professional and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend for all A/C needs, even if it's just a routine cleaning or maintenance. read more

The repairman arrived around 12:15 PM and sat in his work van in my driveway because it was raining. About 15 minutes later, he got out of the van, approached my front door, which was open and said "Quack, quack." He did not introduce himself, but told me that he had to wait until the rain stopped a bit before he could come to the door. I told him to come in and led him to the thermostat on the wall in the hallway. He did not ask me what the problem was. He took down my air filter (which was dirty) and asked when the last time it was changed. I said that we have not turned on our air conditioner yet for the season, and that this past weekend was our first time. I told him that we wait as long as we can before turning it on. He then commented that he would rather be comfortable and spend a few extra dollars, then to not turn it on at all. I told him I could not afford that. He looked surprised, then said, "You mean, we're going to fix this, then you are not going to even turn it on? I don't want to have to come back here." I was amazed at his arrogance and ignorance of the working poor. I told him I could not afford the air to be on until we can't stand it anymore. Then I led him into the garage. I moved some things from my garage sale out of the way for him, but he said that I moved them to the wrong spot. So, I started hauling things away from where he said that he needed to be. He did not say anything, (not a sorry, or a thank you) but did pick up one small box and helped me move it. He was more concerned about the articles I was selling (small TV, dishes, etc....). He asked me to open the garage door so he could come in and out with his ladder, so I did. I went back inside to eat my lunch and put my feet up before my next shift (I work two jobs). After he was finished, he came inside and said, "Well, it must be nice to lie there and do nothing all day long." I told him that I was on my lunch break and inbetween gigs. "Inbetween? He said and laughed." I asked him if it was fixed and he said yes. I then asked if I needed to sign anything and I did. I did all of the leading and open ended questioning, which the repairman should have been doing from the beginning. I then asked if they were going to bill my landlord for this, and he said yes. He then went over to the thermostat and turned on the A/C. I told him that a cold front just moved through and it will be cool for a few days, but he ignored me and asked me what temperature I wanted it to be set. He did not shake my hand, tell me to have a good day, or any other closing remark. He just said bye, and left. This man should not have commented on how, when or why I turn on my air conditioner. He should not have commented or inferred that I was being lazy when I was just on my lunch break. He should not have suggested that make him something to eat when he saw me eating a salad for lunch. He did not even apologize for the mud he tracked into the garage. Yes, it is cluttered due to my garage sale stash, but, you would think he would mention to me that he did drag in some dirt, and that he was sorry. But he did not. Good customer service is what I specialize in, as I work for Allstate Insurance, and also for the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office. This kind of behavior from a professional is annoying, and unacceptable. I am sure he will tell you that he was joking the whole time, but it was extremely inappropriate dialogue and behavior. If we are to continue using Cox with my landlord for our A/C and heating needs, then I do not want this individual in my home in the future. Please send someone else. read more

You act like it wasnt your companies fault no matter what the situation is!! Which IS a direct reflection of this company!! & Now as for my situation, i did send in a picture of the damage to my car which showed the mark of the ladder hitting it. I dont understand how you expected me to get a picture of a FLYING LADDER! Especially after having a near death experience since i almost had a ladder smash through my windshield and while moving out the way we almost hit the wall! As for highway patrol, im sure you record the calls and paula never asked me to have them call the company! I told her she can call the highway patrol to possibly find out! And when i called the highway patrol back they said they immediately dispose of anything they take from the road. Which i dont doubt your company found that out as well and figured you can now get away with denying the incident. Im pretty sure highway patrol got to the ladder before your workers had a chance to drive about 15miles north across the howard franklin bridge and back around since the incident was on I275 SOUTH at 3pm which is the start of rush hr for that bridge! And you expected me to get a picture of a flying ladder but your employees apparently coudnt take a picture of a ladder that was supposedly on the side of the road. You also say they went back to make sure i was okay, when i already stated i was across the bridge and I was fine. If everything on their truck was accounted for why would they go back looking for a ladder? Makes no sense. Plain and simple, this company will make a mistake and try to justify the issue. My friend who was driving my car actually saw the ladder fall off the truck. We were extremely pleased with the service provided by Cox. Kerri who came to give us an estimate patiently explained the different systems and gave us the best deal for two high end Carrier units along with Reme halos. The entire installation crew was wonderful and special mention to Patrick, the service manager and Eddie who was one of the technicians. I am making this review because I was left with a bad taste in my mouth with the Cox Heating and Air Conditioning estimate process. The Sales Engineer arrived on time and looked at the system that needed to be replaced. He was a nice fellow, and very friendly. Then we sat down and he calculated his estimate on a form, including prices for air handler, condenser, labor, electrical upgrades and sales tax, to come up with a final figure. I questioned the practice of marking up the sales tax. I also questioned the practice of marking up the labor. He said that this was how he was trained to this. When he left I called Cox and asked to speak to someone else. A senior Sales engineer also said that this was the way things were done. So, I am left thinking that this is company practice. I am making this review to warn other of the overpricing of parts by this company. They came out and the fan motor to the air handler was bad. They cam with the motor the next day and did the repair. the total was $1256 the MOTOR was $1011. I did some calling around to local supply places and retail for the identical motor with same warrantee (1yr) was $463. I called to ask about the high mark up on the motor and was told " we can not buy that motor for that price" I did not just call one supply I called 3 and all were in the same price range. There are 2 options here, 1. The purchasing department for Cox is poor or steeling from the company 2. I was lied to and they mark parts up over 2 times there cost to the customer. As a homeowner who wants the job done right by a company who is committed to being the best, I couldn't be happier by choosing to go with Cox Air. This company takes pride in their trade and has proven they want to make their customers happy and comfortable. We had a totally new system installed several months ago. Kerri came out promptly and educated us about our home's cooling requirements. We wanted new air handler, compressor, and all new ductwork. Bill and Marcus did our install and were always courteous, and working hard to get the job done right. Bill has been doing this type of work for a long time, and knew from experience, all the right things to do for our best possible install. After the install, we needed a few "tweeks" to get the system perfect for our comfort. Things that I totally accepted considering we were upgrading to a more efficient and up to date package, as well as a larger size duct work to accommodate our new air system. One time I called because one of our new duct vents was making a crinkling sound when the air was on, and Chad quickly came out and located the problem and repaired it with a minor fix. Next was that I noticed our humidity level wasn't quite where I felt comfortable, and a tech came out and adjusted our air handler fan speed and our problem was corrected immediately. Recently, I noticed our son's room ( last room on an "L" shaped house), wasn't as cool as the rest of the house. Chad came out and adjusted our vents in the ceiling and baffles in the duct work, and explained the dynamics of air flow. Our new system has always run perfectly as presented, and as I said, we only needed tweeking to make things perfect for our family. Even though this is their busy season, every time I've called, the office answers promptly and courteously, and schedules a visit immediately. Every person that we have come in contact with truly seems to care about providing the best customer service and follow-up to keep their customers comfortable. They obviously take pride in what they do, and I am happy to have found a company that is perfectly knowledgable about their trade and I am happy to refer to others. read more

Paid full price for 2 complete system replacements. After spending 2 years chasing Salesman Sean, Installation Manager Zack, and Owner Marty to make good on their promise I got nothing but lip service. When I brought the problems with the new systems to their attention they told me that I was wrong and that everything was done correctly. I ended up hiring an independent home inspector to verify that there was a problem and that their installation was sub-standard and many shortcuts were taken. I had to hire a different contractor to fix and complete the job that Cox left incomplete. In short they promise you the world and don't deliver. read more
