I love a place that is open at 5:30 in the morning! I dropped my sister off at the airport super early and needed my DD fix. I didn't realize that this is the only DD in the area! Thankfully it's easy to find, right off the main strip in De Pere. I went through the drive through, which was nice because where you order is covered so if it's raining or something, you don't get wet. My order was taken promptly and there was some kind of special because my extra large was only 99 cents! I was able to pay with the DD app on my phone and the young lady who helped me was very pleasant and congenial. It was a big win for me. I'm a fan.

This is how much you get when you combine both "large" glasses into one. Basically paying for a mostly empty cup.

Good food, terrible value on drinks unless you like paying for air. This was two large teas without ice combined into one glass.

As a west coaster I knew at some point on my voyage I would stop here. Unfortunately this was a horrible experience. The counters were completely unsatisfactory. Dirty lids, napkins, receipts, straw wrappers, etc. everywhere. The floors and tables and counters were so filthy. I wouldn't ever recommend dunkin donuts to anyone after this experience. I have attached photos of some of the counters.

How have I not heard of these kind of kringles before?! I have never really been a fan of kringles,…read moreit's just not my kind of pastry. But this Frankenstein version that Mike's offers that is seemingly a blend of both a kringle and a king cake (the real New Orleans kind)? Heck ya. I will gladly devour this and will be back as often as my travels allow. I was passing through town and stopped in around noon on a Saturday and was thankful to see they had not yet sold out of Kringles for the day. Almond was the only choice left, so I went for it ($22.95)! Plus, a fudgy brownie because why not? Customer service was very friendly and helpful. After checking out I placed the massive kringle and brownie in the trunk so I could get it home to my family without me nibbling on it the entire 2-hour drive home. Once home, I have never seen my family devour a kringle so fast. From the grandparents to the little kiddos, everyone enjoyed Mike's take on a kringle. This should be the default version of a kringle! Oh, and that fudgy brownie? The best I have ever had. All the kudos, stars and compliments I can provide. How has this been kept secret from me for so long?!

We were fortunate enough to visit one of the more popular locations in Uncle Mike's Bake Shoppe. They were pretty busy when we arrived. Looking inside there is a refrigerated section with some homemade goods, some doughnuts and fresh baked bread, and the piece de resistance, the kringle. They had several flavors including blueberry and caramel apple which they were unfortunately out of. We ended up selecting two halves since we couldn't make our mind and you only live once. We went with the Door County Cherry and Strawberry Cream Cheese. They also had some very generous samples available. First of all, the "half" kringle is huge. Looks more like a whole kringle. We really enjoyed each of them. Both flaky, buttery and tender. Loved the Door County Cherry but we might give the edge to the Strawberry Cream Cheese. That is a really tasty and indulgent combination. They do ship their kringles however getting a fresh one is a special treat. Some of the best kringles that we have ever had!

A lot of my life with my dad has been spent in a rush. Rushing from what I never really understood…read moretil I got older. We've found ourselves in this particular moment, him 5 years sober, me 26 and often confusing experiences of pain and pleasures on the thin ice of addiction. Today we are in wisconsin, visiting family, having coffee to stay at a cafe my grandma recommended we go to. She has my tiny brother, so it's just my dad and I, how things were for 16 years. We work as a team to find free parking. We love doing team things to save a dollar, a minute, or find a loophole. We decide on our coffees, and when the barista asks if we'll have them to stay my dad says yes, which brings a smile to my mind. He suggests we share this berry oat bar thing. One thing I find so charming about his sobriety is his need for sweets. It's somewhere in trainspotting 2 that mark tells spud "you'll always be an addict. You just have to find something else to get addicted to." I think of this when i see him with a big fat bowl of ice cream after dinner and a new exciting hobby every other month. I think of this when I consider what my life might be like if I decide to admit some things to myself sooner than later. But right now it's me and my father, having coffee to stay in cute mugs, no rushing, no changing things, just farting around in a midwest summer.

Entering this place made me feel like a kid in a candy store. After looking at every single delicious morsel in store, I finally settled on a few items: Pumpkin bread with maple pecan. This bread was like candy in my mouth. Soft, sweet, and perfect in every way. My favorite pumpkin bread to date. Apple Cake w/brown sugar frosting was good but would've been amazing with a caramel frosting instead. The apples inside the cake were so fresh, it smelled like an apple orchard when I opened the container. The brown sugar frosting gave me pop tarts throwbacks. Not bad, just basic and made me crave caramel instead. Pumpkin donuts (meh); I wasn't impressed and I wouldn't order these again, Double chocolate cookie with caramel filling inside. OMG I just took a tiny bite and wow! So rich, so soft & chewy. And the caramel is so good! A week later and I'm still eating off this massive cookie. (It's being kept refrigerated) 100% vegan and gluten-free?! They are definitely killing the game.

Unfortunately the food was lackluster at best…read more We started w/ the Bavarian pretzel which was served w/o any salt, a clumpy, bland cheese sauce, and an ipa mustard sauce. It was taken home to add proper salt & enjoy w/ a good beer cheese. The cheese curds, the only saving grace of the entire meal. They also upon arrival offer a trio of pickles. We ordered 2 hamburgers. Had wanted a cheese burger w/ American but it's not an option. Asked for the plain hamburger to be served w/pink. It was well done and flavorless, not even S&P. The other burger was their black&bleu. We thought it strange that it was served w/ bleu cheese crumbles in addition to blue cheese dressing. We asked for the dressing on the side. 1) which was good because it would've drowned the small patties 2) Perhaps they add the dressing because they add so few crumbles of the actual bleu cheese. The double patties you get are enough to "separate" to actually cover the bun vs having a large part of the bun plain. The buns are too thin to even support a single patty, breaking apart when you take the first bite. The beer battered fries that come w/ the burger are a good size portion but were also flavorless. And when speaking w/ the manger we were informed they were supposed to even have a little kick to them; not the case. It was a tad off putting hearing the conversation(s) the bartender was having at the bar. A bit too loud for what was being discussed and with the language being used. Fine, I guess for a Friday/Saturday night or a bar away from the dinning area. But on a Sunday, for lunch, maybe not so many cuss words. This hasn't been our first time here but it will be our last. Staff is pleasant enough and obviously there were guests that quite enjoy it. There are just other places in De Pere w/ great burgers, consistent quality, and equivalent price points.
