Knead Some Love NY - rose and pistachio donut

Knead Some Love has been everywhere on my Instagram feed, so I naturally had to try their donuts…read moreinfused with Indian culture -- think Gulab Jamun or mango lassi flavored ones. I tried the pistachio and rose flavor, and the sponge-like, moist texture was so good. It would have been perfect and super absorbent with a cup of tea. These are definitely specialty donuts that feel handmade and would be great for events like a birthday or a wedding, something with real significance. The service was excellent. The owner of the donut stand, when I saw her at Holi Seaport (downtown Manhattan), was very nice and humble. Even though she was working a packed station, she still took the time to serve me personally. She sold out all her donuts, which tells you just how amazing they are. The ambience depended on the event, since it was just a stand -- I didn't go to her actual shop in Weehawkens. Given that she does a lot of events between New York and New Jersey, the vibe will vary depending on which one you attend.

I looked for prices everywhere. NO. WHERE. TO. BE. SEEN. I decide let me just get 3 to try them out they can't be that bad they're pretty small I tapped to pay and looked at my phone... $50 FOR 3 LITTLE DONUTS. FIFFFTTTYYYYY. To make matters worse there was NO FLAVOR. NONE. how does something with pistachios and rose taste exactly like a mango lassi donut. There was no difference. Just dense garbage with no flavor. Tasted awful. I felt like I ate a nobake donut made in a EASY BAKE OVEN. it was awful!!!!! They purposely don't show the prizes and the check out lady compliments you and starts talking about the weather to distract you from what you're about to be charged. SCAM.

THE NOT SO GOOD ---------------------------- - Unfortunately, they only sell 2 flavors of soft serve ice cream - Ube and Matcha - but what a 2 flavors to sell! - It's an extra $1 for a cone, mostly because the cones are of the waffle variety. MIXED THOUGHTS --------------------------- = Ube and Matcha ice cream mix and Ube ice cream in a cup were OK. ANYYYY ice cream is refreshing in this world, but this was more "fro-yo-ish" with it being a little icy and verrrrrrry cold. RANDOM OBSERVATIONS -------------------------------------- = Came by on a Friday evening at 6-7:30 PM and traffic was steady to the vendor. Doesn't hurt that they are basically the only dessert spot inside of the H Mart Food Hall, so there were a lot of curious passerbys.

I have fine memories of walking through the streets of Recoleta and Palermo at night in search of a quality alfajore, or mornings started with a dulce-filled medialuna and a coffee. This very good Argentine bakery took me back to those days, with a delicious chocolate-encased alfajore paired with a cortado and a crispy churro filled with dulce. For a savory bite, the cheese and spinach empanadas were tasty, if a bit salty. They were both baked, as is the typical style within B.A. city limits.

The croissant is perfectly toasty and tender and the bacon is doing its thing too- very generous, the right thickness, flavor and crisp! Teach me. Oh, teach me! The place is always busy so I order online and pick it up. A couple times the orange juice seemed a bit wateryand they remade immediately. No issue and it was better! The other thousand times I've ordered, the juice was perfect. That's how you know it's 100% orange juice and not from a bottle or can. The cakes and pastries look amazing but I'm a creature of habit so can't speak to them. However, the people I have sent have only great things to say! After the crowd dies down, good place to come and study, people watch, lunch meetup, etc. lots of tables and space. Great addition to Bergenline!

Their case was filled with so many delicious looking bites but I held some self restraint and just picked up a few pastel de natas and a guava and cheese danish. Delicious! Both were perfect and everything was under $10. They had so much there that I can't wait to stop back in for: Portuguese rolls, empanadas, drip coffee, etc. While Salem isn't right by me, when I am in the area, this will have to be my new go to bakery when I am in need of a box of pastries to bring along to a party (or just for myself).

Fresh bread, pastries, and baked goods that are incredibly affordable. I drive by all the time and there are always numerous cars double parked outside. Now I see what the commotion is about. The bread is great if you plan to eat it fresh or freeze for later. The Heroes and Portuguese Rolls are my favorites, and the prices are unbeatable. The Glazed Donut was a good try; it's more like a cake than a donut but would definitely pair well with a coffee. I saw the Empanadas on display and decided to try two. The Beef Empanada was pretty solid but the Chicken Empanada threw me off a bit with the carrots inside. With $10 in your pocket, you can walk out of here with so much! Highly recommend supporting this local business.

The texture is a bit more chewier than that I'm used to and the frosting is a thin layer frosting instead of a glaze. The difference ? The frosting will stick to your fingers and is a bit thicker in texture and denseness whereas the glaze barely sticks and is much lighter tasting and texture. Our family definitely prefers the glaze over the frosting but still a good place to try mochi donuts and bubble milk tea. The ube milk tea was delicious. Nice customer service and a good spot to sit and have a snack but parking is not the best, it's street paid parking which can be trickier on the weekends.
