If you love gulab jamun you MUST try their gulab jamun donuts. I've been obsessed with gulab jamun for over 20 years, and I've tried it all over the world, including in India and countless places in NYC. As soon as I saw Knead Some Love NY's gulab jamun donuts while walking around Smorgasburg, I was so excited and had to try them. I also got a mango lassi donut since my son loves mango lassi. We both LOVED our donuts. They are packed with flavor and a unique twist on popular desserts. My son loved how much mango flavor he could taste in his donut, and the gulab jamun donut was perfect. I loved the consistency of the fresh-baked donut, the gulab jamun on top and the frosting. Plus they are beautifully baked and pretty to look at. I highly recommend trying these donuts and supporting an amazing woman-owned business. The owner is super friendly and helpful, so if you have any questions when ordering don't hesitate to ask. I can't wait to order more donuts again next time I'm in NYC and try some of the other flavors, too. read more

I bought two donuts from their stand at Smorgasburg today... when I checked my banking app they charged me $31!!! For two donuts!!! The donuts were just "ok", not worth it. I didn't even want to give them one star! read more

SCAM. SCAMMM. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM HERE. went to smorgasburg and saw these beautiful "donuts" with exciting flavors like rose pistachio and mango lassi. I looked for prices everywhere. NO. WHERE. TO. BE. SEEN. I decide let me just get 3 to try them out they can't be that bad they're pretty small I tapped to pay and looked at my phone... $50 FOR 3 LITTLE DONUTS. FIFFFTTTYYYYY. To make matters worse there was NO FLAVOR. NONE. how does something with pistachios and rose taste exactly like a mango lassi donut. There was no difference. Just dense garbage with no flavor. Tasted awful. I felt like I ate a nobake donut made in a EASY BAKE OVEN. it was awful!!!!! They purposely don't show the prizes and the check out lady compliments you and starts talking about the weather to distract you from what you're about to be charged. SCAM. read more

Knead Some Love has been everywhere on my Instagram feed, so I naturally had to try their donuts infused with Indian culture -- think Gulab Jamun or mango lassi flavored ones. I tried the pistachio and rose flavor, and the sponge-like, moist texture was so good. It would have been perfect and super absorbent with a cup of tea. These are definitely specialty donuts that feel handmade and would be great for events like a birthday or a wedding, something with real significance. The service was excellent. The owner of the donut stand, when I saw her at Holi Seaport (downtown Manhattan), was very nice and humble. Even though she was working a packed station, she still took the time to serve me personally. She sold out all her donuts, which tells you just how amazing they are. The ambience depended on the event, since it was just a stand -- I didn't go to her actual shop in Weehawkens. Given that she does a lot of events between New York and New Jersey, the vibe will vary depending on which one you attend. read more

Overly sweet dense doughnut-shaped pastry. Saw their stall at Smorgasburg. I was absolutely mesmerized by how decadent these looked and all the unique flavors. But the taste was disappointing and price (+$12/piece) was whack even for Williamsburg. Not worth it. read more

Visited them at the Williamsburg Smorgasburg, and we were really excited since the donuts were beautiful. We got both vegan options they had that day (tiramisu kulfi cardamom and spiced chai latte), and they looked great for our snack. We didn't see the prices before ordering (not my usual MO, but it was busy and they brought over the unit to tap our phone), and when we saw the charge later, we were floored. Smorgasburg pricing is always kind of ridiculous, but this was so high that we thought something went wrong with the order. Over $30 for TWO donuts after taxes and fees? I'm all for supporting small businesses, but for two small donuts, that's kind of outrageous. For the price we paid, I'd expect the best donuts I've ever had in my life, and while these were fine, they were not that. Since the flavors are Indian-inspired, they're flavors that are not common at other donut shops, which is great, but the pricing is just completely off. Pretty donuts, but can't see spending this much again. read more

STAY AWAY unless you want to look like a fool! I really like supporting small female businesses so I didn't even bother checking the price - impulse purchase anyway. Checking my credit card statement today, holy hell $14 for a doughnut?!?!?!?! And she made me get 2! While the doughnuts look fabulous and do taste great, there is no way I would have bought them had I known they cost $14. And I also tipped her just for scooping up the doughnuts and handing them to me! The funny thing we got to talking about her time in Barcelona and she told me to be very careful of thieves there...all while she is scamming people right her in plain sight in New York!!!! read more

Same experience as many noted, over priced, not great tasting and had to buy two donuts. Never again!

Donuts here are baked not fried, overall the donut was okay, it didn't amaze me or anything and they were $11 each which is absurd for one donut. The donut itself is aesthetic though lol read more

Horrible experience and so not worth the money. I visited this vendor at Smorgasburg in Brooklyn and was charged $96 for 6 donuts when the sign says $11 each. I approached her after realizing this and she said price is listed here, however it's evident she didn't do well in math class because 6 times 11 does not equal $96. She refused to provide any itemized receipt and told us we could not return them (unopened). She expressed that she was charging for the box as well. That makes no sense because that's her packaging, I would have cared less what type of box/bag they were in. This is a total scam and very unprofessional. Stay far away!!! read more

$30 for two donuts is an absolute scam. Mango lassi lacked mango flavor. Very moist to the point that you can't pick it up and enjoy it. I thought that for $30 you'd truly get an amazing donut...don't waste your money. It's worth maybe $5 read more

First I'll start that the owner was very sweet. She is clearly proud of her donuts and i was fully engaged in her excitement and for myself as well. Which is why i never bothered to look at the price board. I just wanted to try at least 4 of these unique flavors. That was on saturday. Now it's monday and i came across the bank statement that said I was charged $60 for my 4 donuts. Naturally i thought there had to be a mistake but given the other comments i can see this is normal. Im disappointed overall and found it odd that the charge screen never faced me or a receipt could be sent to my phone. She just tapped my card on her end, i left and that was that. So either these are $15 each or a nice gratuity was added on my behalf. read more

Paid $50 for 3 donuts at Smorgasburg Williamsburg... and no, they weren't made of gold. They looked mid and tasted okay, but definitely not worth the price. The lady didn't have the courtesy to provide napkins or a proper to-go bag. I asked her multiple times for the total to which she ignored and had a mini tap machine where the amount wasnt visible acting like shes really busy at the counter. I came home and saw I was charged $50 for three donuts which is wild. DO NOT RECOMMEND. Save your money. read more

First time trying them at smorgasburg and the owner is genuinely very sweet, everything is made with love because every donut they had on display looked phenomenal. My favorite had to be the one with rose pistachio, the texture is so different from regular donut that I couldn't believe this is how a donut tastes like. They had a mango lasso donut as well it was already sold out by the time I got these two. I definitely recommend this spot. read more

Knead some love has been on my list for a while. I was in the area and decided to check them out. They had so many wonderful flavors, but I decided to stick with the gulab jamun. The donuts are baked, so it's more of a cake consistency. But the flavors were there, you can tell she uses quality ingredients, you can taste it in the frosting. However, it's a basic mini cake with delicious frosting . I believe the gulab jamun is a little pricer then the others, it was $11.60. Cool place to check out, just to say you've had it. read more

Leaving this review because the owner is very unresponsive. She only responds and tells you you can make an order and cost, but when you email her back to actually make the order and schedule the pick up, she stops responding. I have tried contacting multiple times, even during different months, and she always ghosts after the first message. Seems unprofessional if the only way you can even make an order is either by DMing on instagram or emailing, to which you get no response. If they are charging $80 for a preselected box of SIX donuts (where you cannot even choose the flavors that you want), then they should at-least have a website that can accept orders so no one has to deal with being ghosted every time they try to place an order. If each donut is around $13.33, the service should at least be able to match the exorbitant amount of money being charged for a little donut. Very disappointed because I really wanted to try one of their donuts, but I guess I will not be reaching out again. read more

I really thought that donuts couldn't get any better, but CLEARLY I was wrong. When I came across KneadsomeloveNY my heart almost bursted. The donuts were not only just pretty in the pictures but omg...the taste?! IMMACULATE A lot of the flavors have an Indian twist to them plus the donuts are baked not fried- sooo you know you wont find these kind of donuts anywhere else! The donut base is super moist and the frosting... let me tell you.. is godsend!!! You can order by emailing kneadsomeloveny@gmail.com to or DM them on instagram (kneadsomeloveny)... But a website is also coming so get hyped The owner is super duper sweet and will help you place an order super quickly:) Also if you dont live in the area or live out of state... no worries! Came across Knead Some Love NY on instagram and boy did these donut/bundt cakes caught my attention. These donuts are handcrafted and beautifully made by Priyanka, owner and CEO. Flavors are indian-inspired and are very unique to me. I havent tried indian desserts before and i must say i have enjoyed all of the ones I've ordered. My top one is the Gulab Jamun. It was mild in sweetness and was so pretty with a dash of edible roses. Next one that stood out for me was the Lavender chocolate. The choice of flavors were very unique and creative. The rose pistachio had a strong flavor but not overwhelming. The coconut was delicious too. I liked the coconut shreds it was topped with. Obviously we finished our donuts quick. I mention donut/bundt cakes coz they look like a hybrid of both. Texture is as expected: moist, cakey and something i actually enjoy. Communication as i ordered was quick and transaction was smooth. Hoping to see more good things happening from this bakery. Adding her business here to show some yelp love and support! Check her page out and try these wonderful treats! read more

RIDICULOUSLY EXPENSIVE DONUTS NOT WORTH THE HYPE ($100 FOR HALF DOZEN AND $170 FOR FULL DOZEN PLUS TAXES AND SHIPPING OR UBER COST) WITH VERY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE, CRAZY DELIVERY PROCESS (FOR SHIPPING METHOD, YOU HAVE TO DIY THE DONUTS AFTER PAYING SO MUCH OR SEND THE UBER AND COORDINATE YOURSELF IF LOCAL). VERY BAD EXPERIENCE (READ BELOW FOR MY DETAILED HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE). She charges $100 for half dozen and $170 for a dozen plus taxes and shipping or uber cost (depending on how you receive them). I initially paid about $225 for a dozen of donuts to ship in hopes for receiving all the flavors but you can't even choose the flavors as they are assorted (she sent me only 6 flavors and the rest were same ). For such ridiculously crazy priced donuts, you would expect an easy and smooth process to receive the donuts with top notch service but NOPE that's not what I experienced. She provides two options to receive donuts i.e. ship them to you or uber package if local. Here's the funny catch, if you choose the shipping method you have to DIY the donuts yourself like if I'm paying this much for donuts, I should not have to make extra effort to prepare the donuts. However, if you choose the Uber package locally, then you have to request and send the Uber yourself to her to only load the donuts. When I placed the order, I didn't realize this crazy process. Upon chatting with her and finding out the process, I realized it's such a hassle to receive these donuts, so I asked for a refund and she declined and was very rude and unaccommodating. Since I sent Zelle, I was stuck with this damn order. Upon arriving in New York, I had to waste my precious vacation time to receive the damn donuts I had paid for and was stuck with. I had to request and send the Uber myself to her to receive the donuts, and I had to be the one to coordinate between the driver and her. The Uber cost me about $80 on top of $225 I had already paid for the donuts. After wasting almost $300 on this damn donut order, I couldn't even eat and enjoy them because this entire experience left such a bad taste. We only ate a couple of them and had to leave the rest behind since we were traveling. To be honest, these donuts aren't even all that as advertised. Additionally, I had to ask her numerous time to refund my shipping cost since I had to opt for Uber option out there. Overall, very costly, difficult delivery process and very bad customer service. NOT WORTH IT AT ALL!!! read more

When they say the Donuts are Rasmalai Flavored, you can actually taste it.. It is not just for show.. Tried four different flavors and each tasted different and unique.. I don't know if the person I talked to is the Owner but whoever ran the Booth at Smorgasburg was very friendly.. read more

I was super excited to try these donuts during one of my jersey ventures and stopped by to get a box at Smorgasburg. The texture and taste resembles mitai (like a laddoo or barfi - an Indian sweet). Each donut is similar in that it has the laddoo syrup consistency but frosting and ingredients differ. Honestly each flavor hit the spot but I'd come back for the coconut, chocolate and gulab jamun. As a rose enthusiast, I could've had a more rose infused pistachio rose donut but I get that that's not everyone's preference. The baker (Priyanka) of these donuts seemed lovely and kind, and her passion for baking was shone through in my interaction with her. Yes, these are pricey, but you're supporting a WOC's emerging local business who uses high quality ingredients - so people complaining about the price tag need to get over it. read more

This is a scam. $15 for one donut? Your product is not good at all , it's not even special. Taste some curry flavor on a moist pound cake.

Taste was ok, more cake like then donut. I like the different flavors , with an Indian flair. Wayyyy over priced! Not worth it.

Tried some of these baked cake donuts at the JC smorgasburg. It was $8 per donut and the flavor wasn't very good. I bought the chocolate, lychee cream, and rose pistachio so the total was $24 for 3 donuts that were a smaller size than Krispies Kreme donuts. I couldn't differentiate the flavors because the icing flavors weren't strong or necessarily good. The only consistent flavor I tasted was the cake donut flavor across all three donuts, which tasted kind of nutty and felt very dense and wet. I wouldn't have mind paying $8 for these donuts if the flavors and the consistency were on point. However, they didn't do anything for me and it felt like a huge waste of money. I don't think they should be charging anywhere close to $8 per donut until they improve their recipe. read more

Was looking to send something special for my sisters' birthdays. Found this business when searching for cakes with more Indian flavors. Called KSM NY and spoke to Priyanka. She was extremely helpful in setting up a special order. The entire experience was so easy, they were really helpful in answering queries and making helpful suggestions. Top notch service. Got feedback from my sisters that the entire order was awesome. They stressed about the flavors, colors and textures. Also the right amount of sweetness to bring out the flavors without overpowering. Would wish them the best and highly recommend them. read more

Very expensive donuts at $8-10 found at Smorgasborg Jersey City. They look pretty, but flavor wise so-so. Pretty basic cake donuts. I understand these are meant to be unique but still very expensive for 1 donut. Ok to try once but I wouldn't make a special trip for them. Also, they were sitting out in the open with zero cover over them. Would be better if they were covered since many ppl walk by and talk/breathe over them not to mention flies that could be around. read more

I really wanted to love these, especially because of the Indian flavors that were offered. But considering price and flavor, these weren't my favorite. To start off the donuts taste more like cake with frosting rather than donuts. The flavor didn't really stand out either. Something to note is that each donut seems the be the same cake base which is then frosted/topped with the respective flavor you choose. Tasted more like cake than a cake donut which each have different textures. Wish the batter would incorporate the unique flavors as well. I think maybe if it was marketed as cupcakes instead of donuts, it'd be a little more truthful to the taste. In my opinion, for $8 per piece was too only because the flavor and texture.
