Prior to visiting this store I had no idea what Concept Sweet was selling. Was it an ice cream…read moreshop? Candy store? Retail? I guess you can say it's a combination of all of these, but if you look at the owners pictures, you weren't sure what you are walking into, because all his pictures are stock photos of what he is selling and you don't actually see the actual store inside and items sold. In a nutshell, Concept Sweet sells what ever the owner wants - ice cream, candy, sweets (some savory), and a variety of cute instagrammable merchandise . The description is very basic, but when you walk into the shop, you see there is much more than that!
The ice cream can be served in many different ways. A variety of flavored scoops in a cup, scoop(s) on a cone, on a flavored cone, on a J cone, as ice cream nachos, as Dole whip, on a hot waffle, with or without toppings, with or without accessories, shaped like sushi, as spaghetti, shaped like pizza, etc. It's crazy, I know.
They also sell ices, push pops, cake pops, Du's Donuts, chocolates, candies, cookies, cupcakes, and cute merchandise to make a parties more fun. I'm sure I missed something...just look at the Yelp pictures and you can see the 500+ pics the owner posted!
There are the usual candies and chocolates you will find at many convenient stores. What's cool about Concept Sweet is that there are many unique sweets you won't find easily locally, such as Pocket Latte Chocolate bars, Pac man Arcade Candy, and Gumby Gummy candy. The owner has put so many unique sweets into this store! This includes the beverages (check out my pics). Another example are donuts from Du's Donuts in Brooklyn, NY., owned by the famous Wylie Dufresne. I actually came in looking to buy these!
I purchased 4 Du's Donuts: the lemon matcha, coffee cake, chocolate caramel brownie, and blueberry crumble. I thought they tasted pretty good, but they are not that much better than a Duck Donuts or Broad Street Dough which are priced lower per specialty donut. While we were there, my daughter also ordered a plain scoop of pumpkin ice cream and she said she liked it.
Despite the pricing of Du's Donuts, I like Concept Sweet and its er, concept. I didn''t really notice the price after purchasing, but I'm estimating over a couple bucks per - closer to three bucks. There are cheaper donuts but you'd have to drive further to get a specialty donut, especially Du's which is located in Williamburg, Brooklyn! I'm not sure when they get the donuts but they didn't taste stale at all. They even had Halloween donuts available. I'd like to see Concept sweets do well as it seems like the owner is really putting it all into his business. It's a fun store with many unique items. See for yourself!
