Coffee profile (cold brew for me) was much more complex than typical run of the mill chain coffee, and the house made caramel syrup was amazing. Service was attentive and friendly but a bit slow - only one person working but it's a family owned small business and not unreasonable. The decor and furniture are bright and rustic. There's a family friendly corner with a few toys and high chairs and a group of moms with toddlers were enjoying their time. Not a place to let the kids run amok, but I certainly wasn't seeing that. There's also a cozy seating area with a couch and comfy chairs. The total cost was a little more than I expected but I honestly didn't look at prices ahead of time so that's on me. Happy to visit a locally owned business and I hope to visit again soon!

I asked the girl how MANY pumps of sweetener get added to a large. She said '6' - and then proceeded to put in just '2!' In the words of Chevy Chase, "Thank you very little!" There is also a girl that works at the counter with multi-colored hair that talks to herself and well... should NOT be dealing with customers. Unfriendly, creepy and very off! Mind you, not on the headset taking orders or talking to staff in the store - just babbling incoherently to herself and frankly it's disturbing and uncomfortable. Didn't talk to me other than take my order and continue fighting with her head! Based on these last two incidents (which come on the recent heels of other bad incidents!), I've now purchased my Pike and Colombia at the supermarket and will DISCONTINUE ever stepping foot in this location. So much for my morning routine!

However, the more time I have actually had to sit with my thoughts of it, the more I realized I could just write one now and possibly update it later. So here we are at Cheshire Coffee, a coffee spot that sits oddly enough on the Waterbury side of the town line with Cheshire. Seriously, this place I don't even have to go outside my city limits for, and it is, notably enough in between the same two exits on I-84 as Blackie's is across the line. Much like The Loaded Goat Coffee Company in Naugatuck, this place is very inviting, cozy, with great coffees and excellent customer service. This visit involved an asiago bagel toasted with cream cheese, a beef chimichurri sandwich that the baristas panini-pressed for me, and a Churro Latte. All 3 of these things were good to great. Really, this review is mainly a 4-star review in the way that a place I don't have much of an impression on would get 4 stars. I would need to come back for more things to decide whether or not a 5th star would be warranted. But the interior helps makes a strong case for that star. I was most impressed with the poem on display as I was waiting for my coffee. It's not a detail I've shared yet here on Yelp, but this visit 's prompt me to say this now. So fun fact about me is that once upon a time, I wrote poetry. Late sophomore year of high school and going for a few years after and starting in 2007, I wrote poems any time I felt inspired to do so. I once attended a poetry slam that was held by my high school later in 2007 when I was in the first half of my junior year, and boy was that a great experience! Seeing the poem on display, I am really starting to think about getting back into writing poetry. I just need to find a muse and inspirations. This is honestly a great coffee option if I want to start traveling anywhere eastbound towards Hartford and such. They're always fresh and very good size. It looks like any typical donut shop that you've been to. Nothing really stands out except that really intense smell of FRESHNESS. So good in the air. Three service is also always great. They're so kind and genuine here. Always great hospitality and very nice people serving you. They have some deal that they sell you the donuts at a discounted rate after like 5 or 6 o'clock . Something like that. I was so surprised that they offer this. I still remember the first time here when they told me about that and I took advantage of it and bought more than I originally planned on getting. I think it's a great concept I've never encountered elsewhere and think more donut places should adopt their truly great concept. Makes sense instead of throwing donuts away at the end of the day.
