They have a robust line up of sandwiches, salads, coffees and teas - iced or hot, and pastries to select from. The basic egg and cheese (sometimes with an upgrade of spinach & avocado) on an English muffin with an iced coffee is anything but basic: this is the best version of this sandwich I've ever had - IF and when the right person makes it. Generally, Sophie's is 5-stars, but: On our last visit, we overheard the person who was cooking/prepping sandos saying he'd make one more order before he left since he was already late. We were the "lucky" couple he stayed to serve. Translation - both of our orders were messed up. I'd ordered the Gardener, which was delivered without the avocado that is specifically listed on the menu, and which I wanted. My husband ordered the smoked salmon sandwich on an everything bagel, NOT toasted. His order included all of the elements, but the bagel was toasted. He hates warmed cream cheese, but did love the side of pita chips his came with. Still, the iced coffee was as good as usual (even in the off season) and the indoor space remained cozy, with several options for seating (high tops, low tops, and easy chairs). There are a few outdoor tables for when the weather is right. We've sat out there, and the plants around the entry patio really help create some distance from busy route 102 which is right out front of the deep driveway/parking area. Oh, and the bathroom is clean. All this, and Kevin Bacon and Kira Sedgwick ate here a few years back too. Seriously, this place is excellent

They are committed to using healthy ingredients. The Morning Buns from this bakery were highly recommended by a local. They did not disappoint. Order included; **Morning Buns - their rendition of a cinnamon bun. "The bakers work this croissant dough for several days, folding in cinnamon, brown sugar, butter, and love. Guaranteed to be one of the best pastries you've ever tasted." The buttery layers melted in my mouth. The cinnamon was fragrant and did not dominate the flavor of the sweet pastry. I understand why they are the most popular item on the pastry menu. **Almond Danish -- My favorite in a close competition after a sampling. The almond paste gave them a pronounced nut flavor as well as a slightly chewy bite. **Monkey Bread pastry -- although fresh tasting, it was a little dry and only mildly flavorful. It was my least favorite. **Chocolate Chip Cookies -- crunchy at edges with a little chew and a pleasant aftertaste of butter. Excellent! As a novice baker of Sourdough Breads, I was pleased to learn that the Bakery has a Sourdough focus using sourdough starter for most products including the croissants believing it's healthier and easier to digest. Amazing! Wish I lived closer. The bread selection was impressive and included Sourdough. Sliced upon request, they are popular and often sold out. I was advised to get there early.

Amazing coffee and baked goods served by genuinely amazing people. An excellent experience... no surprise to overhear them chatting away with their "regulars" who seemed to be there (I laughed when I overheard someone ordering something different than their "usual order"). Charming interior, with space to eat on site. Over two visits in 2 days, I had their morning bun (OMG), spinach feta croissant and pain au chocolate... cannot wait to go back on my next trip to RI (or better yet, please open in NYC ). I think everything was $5.85/each.

Donuts must have bad publicists. First, Dunkin' purges them from their logo like a reprobate uncle…read moreand now Bess Eaton quietly morphs from "Donut Shop" to "Coffee Shoppe" with a wave of the copywriters wand. BTW, they still serve fried dough in infinite varieties but this Rhode Island stalwart would rather keep that on a need to know basis. Fun fact... Rhode Islanders eat more donuts per capita than any state in the US. Engorged waistlines aside, Bess Eaton is everything Dunkin' isn't namely, fast, clean and cheap. While Dunkin' has radically expanded their menu forcing order completion times to infinity and beyond, Eaton has kept things simple meaning your hot coffee isn't iced by the time it delivers your morning fix. Unfortunately, a pit stop in Rhode Island is a bit of a detour on my daily commute but ole' Bess remains a sought after destination when I do return to the State of Rhode Island and the now deleted Providence Plantations. An easy five stars.

Let me tell you.... Wakefield is all a buzz over this place reopening! The line was out the door,…read morethe drive thru line was to the street. And why you ask? For styrofoam 32oz containers filled with crushed ice and ice coffee. Even on a day when its 25 degrees out. The staff was a little frazzled, which doesnt surprise me. They had been getting their asses handed to them from the minute they opened. There was a well dressed couple (Im assuming the owners) stocking baked goods, and checking on the staff. They dont have the trademark Red White and Blue cups yet, but Im sure without a doubt, they are on their way. Once the staff gets the hang of it, and the craziness calms down, Im sure this place will run like the well oiled machine that it used to be. Good Job guys, and thank you for making Wakefield that Happiest Place on planet earth.
