Sophie's Brewhouse is a great spot for a good cup of coffee and a sandwich and we stop on whenever we're down this way, often planning the trip around an early lunch here. They have a robust line up of sandwiches, salads, coffees and teas - iced or hot, and pastries to select from. The basic egg and cheese (sometimes with an upgrade of spinach & avocado) on an English muffin with an iced coffee is anything but basic: this is the best version of this sandwich I've ever had - IF and when the right person makes it. Generally, Sophie's is 5-stars, but: On our last visit, we overheard the person who was cooking/prepping sandos saying he'd make one more order before he left since he was already late. We were the "lucky" couple he stayed to serve. Translation - both of our orders were messed up. I'd ordered the Gardener, which was delivered without the avocado that is specifically listed on the menu, and which I wanted. My husband ordered the smoked salmon sandwich on an everything bagel, NOT toasted. His order included all of the elements, but the bagel was toasted. He hates warmed cream cheese, but did love the side of pita chips his came with. Still, the iced coffee was as good as usual (even in the off season) and the indoor space remained cozy, with several options for seating (high tops, low tops, and easy chairs). There are a few outdoor tables for when the weather is right. We've sat out there, and the plants around the entry patio really help create some distance from busy route 102 which is right out front of the deep driveway/parking area. Proof of if you build it, they will come. Sophie's feels like the only coffee shop in the area, and for Rhode Island standards, it kind of is. Conveniently located on Route 2, it is a solid option for much of southern Rhode Island. Their breakfast sandwiches are very popular and offer some unique options, some incorporate local specialties like soupy! The coffee is fairly basic, nothing noteworthy there, and you won't really find craft lattes here. Staff are overall pleasant, but do be aware they will stop serving food early to be able to close down on time. read more

Came in today to use the coffee coupon for RI food fights iced coffee competition. Thought Id grab lunch and pick something up before I go see my next patient. I ordered something very simple. The girl making all the food is slowly making food while talking to another college student...seemingly distracted. I waited for 10 minutes. Nothing I ordered needed to be cooked. The coffee also was not my type, so I threw it away pretty much after drinking it for a bit. This is the 2nd time I've been here where the kids are just moving so slow, and I had to wait a while for my food last time too. read more

I hadnt been to Sophies in over ten years, and when I went this weekend I had high hopes for a fancy latte and egg sammy but left feeling a little let down. A bunch of people in there working behind the counter but when you ask a question about coffee flavors no one really knew anything. We found our own answers once we got closer to the register (a small handwritten sign explains different flavors for hot and cold drinks). The barista made my latte wrong and gave me regular coffee, which is fine, they remade it and were apologetic- but the breakfast sandwich I ordered was sloppy and messy so its like at that point I felt grumpy about all of it. The bathroom seemed a little dingy and hadn't been wiped down in a while, so that was off putting. But, to try and redeem this review, I want to mention the décor is nice and the seating is cozy! coffee was so good, the service was mid, but considering someone assumed my bf and i's coffee was theirs and took it i don't blame the workers at all for not remembering what we ordered, but when we tried to get our orders again, they just continued to mess up the order and were just being extremely slow and openly complaining about their job when there was barely any orders coming through. i hate to say it but i would come back if i had an hour or so to spare but other than that not so sure, again the food and drinks were great but took unnecessarily long, and from the other reviews i've read it seems like this place doesnt care to check the reviews or improve at all as i've seen quite a lot of other sharing a similar experience to my own, which is quite disappointing read more

For the past four weeks the wait for a sandwich as gone up from five minutes to twenty minutes minimum. And I have watch my one sandwich get skipped while someone else's food came out before mine, even though they ordered after me. This was the first time, and four weeks later I went in with no one there and still waited twenty minutes for one sandwich. I only go on the weekends and Sunday has been the worst days. I do no recommend going there, and if you are still going to go I recommend you stop tipping for such poor service. I've had a good breakfast sandwich and a tasty muffin a few times, but more often than not, my order is messed up and the service isn't great. I've been served moldy bread multiple times (English muffin the last time), and two out of the last three times I went there, they forgot to give me some of my order. Morning drinks. I'll give it 3 stars for the ambience but have to take 2 away for the actual quality of the drinks. I ordered a black tea with almond milk and got something fruity smelling/tasting. Did not enjoy. Hubs said his Chai latte was way to sweet and didn't enjoy. The wait to order was long because there were many people in the queue already which he hoped meant good brews but no. We didn't get any of the pastries but hopefully they taste better than the drinks did. The ambiance is very cute inside of your staying to sit and enjoy your food and drinks. read more

Stopped in yesterday for the first time in a while. Update: they have a variety of straws now, made my day. I had an almond joy latte and a slice of turtle pie. The pie was AMAZING! While I very much enjoyed their coffee and the price is comparable to DD, I stopped for something to eat the other morning. I bought the breakfast burrito. It was almost $10. Unfortunately, that was absolutely not worth the money. It was good. Very flavorful and made very well. Very enjoyable. However that price is just way too much for a small breakfast burrito. If it wasn't so expensive I would be more inclined to try more foods there. read more

Hmmmm. Service was fine. Lighting is a bit dim. Baked goods selection seemed a little sparse. Let me taste this coffee.....Black. Mehhh, its not terrible. I should have doctored it w/ cream and 2 sugars. I assume thats what most people do around these parts. Last time I was in the area I fueled up at TLC coffee right around the corner. Also totally meh coffee. Both establishments in the URI neighborhood. I assume they both cater to the "snickerdoodle" coffee w/ extra whipped cream and chocolate drizzle crowd. Ordered a cappuccino with a heated up blueberry muffin and butter on the side. I received a cold muffin without butter and a cappuccino that tasted like warm milk. When I asked for another shot of espresso it still tasted like warm milk. No coffee flavor at all. I got attitude when I asked for my muffin heated up so I didn't even ask for a side of butter. The menu is also misleading. It says there is scrambled eggs, sausage, etc, but there isn't a grill . These are precooked that they put in the microwave. This coffee brew house is so sweet. It's a lovely morning or afternoon stop for a sandwich and beverage. We stopped in Sunday morning and we were pleasantly greeted by the staff behind the counter. They gave us time to examine their extensive menu and answered our questions. I got a cheddar toasted bagel with homemade chive cream cheese which was excellent. We also got the busy day breakfast sandwich on cheddar jalapeño which was loaded with fresh ingredients ( fresh pepper, fresh red onion, fresh spinach, and avocado, with sausage and fresh scrambled eggs) YUM!! To drink I had ice house decaf (they also have house biscotti flavored decaf) and I had chocolate covered raspberry flavor -YUM!! For the ice latte, this one had body and you could tell it was not watered down. They have plenty of outdoor seating for a warm summer or fall day. The inside was very inviting and charming which had plenty of seating bars and comfortable chairs placed all around for in-house dining! The BEST iced chai in the state! It's made sooooo flippin well and strong and creamy... just writing this makes my mouth water. No one makes it like Sophie's... no one! They also have super good sandwiches, awesome little homemade dog treats, and of course great coffee. Their seating area is comfy cozy and great for a nice coffee date or to put in some laptop time. The only reason it has a two star rating is for the decor. It's quaint, rustic, and a good place to sit and have a meeting, or just chill. BUT... I have never had a good experience going into this coffee shop but it's convenient so I keep trying. Today, was the last time I will ever step foot into Sophie's. This is how my food was HANDED to me. Grimy finger prints and ranch dressing all over the side, plus this is not what I even ordered. I am 8 months pregnant, so I can't have deli meat which was the whole sandwich, even though I ordered a turkey bacon egg and avocado on a English muffin. I go to Sophie's several times a month. It's perfect for when you want something special to start your day. My favorite things to get are the Oat Milk Hot Latte, and the lumberjack sandwich on an everything bagel with bacon. Nice location, friendly people, great food and coffee. read more

Amazing!!! Who would have thought I'd stumble upon this cute coffee brew house on my way to pick up sod at the farm down the street. This place made my day on a cool, rainy, Friday which was actually the first official day of fall! I stopped in on my way back from picking up grass for m latest house flip. Super friendly staff, yummy pastry case and delicious iced chai!! I opted for a pumpkin iced chai and a few Oreo Peantbutter Brownies and Chocolate chip Cookies for my bunnies an I for later. The iced chai was a perfect late morning pick me up and the sweets hit the spot after dinner this evening. This place is honestly just terrible. Every time I go I regret it and am reminded of why I never go. Example- just paid over 9$ for egg on some bread (Calling it an egg sandwich is a disgrace to all egg sandwiches). The yucky wrap was was a 1$ extra. The cheese wasn't melted ew it was literally cold still. And it had 1 over cooked egg. The bulk of the wrap was spinach. So gross. If you want an actual egg sandwich do yourself a favor and drive down the road further to TLC. read more

Breakfast sandwiches are great and coffee is the best. However service in September has been suffering. Waited 30 minutes for a donut and breakfast sandwich. Next visit waited 10 minutes for sandwich and 10 minutes in line. Saw a few people walk away. Hopefully this doesn't continue because I really like this place. read more

Adorable country coffee shop! The large drinks are LARGE and a great value. We loved our iced vanilla chai and cold brew. Many flavors to choose from. Dear Sophie's, Welcome back old friend. I was very excited to see the return of Sophie's after their hiatus which last a couple years. I work down the road and have always enjoyed their coffee and food. Nothing against Something's Brewing but it just left a void when they left. I went back for the first time since their reopening a couple weeks ago and was pleased to see how nice it looks after the work they've done. Similar but just updated. It still needs some decorating but I'm sure that'll come over time. The coffee flavors were seasonal and interesting such as Egg Nog, Chocolate Mousse, etc. I've always enjoyed their flavors as they don't overpower or taste too sweet. The coffee was on point as always and since that time I have been back to try a few more. I also had one of their sweets, a chocolate peppermint bar which was awesome, and had a chipotle chicken sandwich with boar's head which was great. This is one of my favorites and I hope they stick around for a long time. It was sad to see them go but glad to see them back! read more

Sophie's Brew House is a hidden gem in Rhode Island. It's located in Exeter but definitely worth the drive! Their staff is friendly and helpful with the coffee and food menu. I normally get the house brew and it is solid, not burnt like most chains. The breakfast sandwiches are made fresh and are delicious. I also recommend their fresh bagels and desserts too! Covid or no covid, this place simply sucks, it can't be that hard to execute a menu with a few sandwiches and sides but I guess it is for the inexperienced people that work here, few weeks ago after been left for 15 minutes on hold finally ordered some sandwiches, when arrived to get them was told they didn't have most of the ingredients that was ordered, surely they should of known this before we ordered but gotta give it to them one of the sandwiches was "in stock" unfortunately the meat was sour and slimy and went straight into the trash when I got back home, always down to support local business but this place just doesn't feel part of the community, it's way overpriced for the slop they serve. read more
