We had yet another amazing experience at South County Bread Company. We picked up morning buns, traditional croissants, sour dough bread and brioche buns. Everything was fantastic. Baked to perfection. The line was long, but moved quite quickly. The staff were incredibly friendly and moved everything alone like a well oiled machine. There are local products on the shelves. The coffee is fantastic. There is a seating area in the window and some outside if you're will to brave the cold. read more

It adds to the whole street's charm of having an option to walk in and smell, delicious and hot baked goods coming straight from the oven. I went in on a Sunday to grab some items for breakfast and was welcomed by the friendly staff and the wife array of sweet and savory croissants, pain au chocolate and various danishes. The danishes were crispy on the outside and doughy interior. The croissants were decent, but missed the ideal of a light, flaky and crispy texture that melts in your mouth with the butter flavoring. read more

Our local friend recommended this bakery to us, and I was impressed! I loved my pastries so much that I came back the next day during my weekend trip. The ham & swiss croissant was a delicious savory start to our haul. I'm not usually a ham girly but this ham was GOOD - a nice, thick cut that didn't fall out of the pastry with each bite. The chocolate croissant had THREE whole strips of chocolate, I feel like most places usually do two. What's so special about their croissants is that they also incorporate the sourdough starter, so there's a good mix of tang and sweet in each bite. The morning bun was *chef's kiss*. Not too sweet, a must get! They also offer coffee to go with your baked goods, as well as a variety of whole loaves of bread, which I'll have to come back to try. There is usually a line but it moves quickly. Parking was only street parking but it wasn't hard to find a spot. Lovely people running a lovely spot! read more

I love South County Bread. Everything is delicious. We love their fresh made bread. We also love their ham and cheese croissants and the pain du chocolate (chocolate croissants). They also have great coffee and also feature some local items in the store as well. There can be a line at times since it is so good but it goes fast. They have some nice seating inside where you can look out at our wonderful Main Street or you can take yummy treats behind building and eat by the water. There is street parking and some free lot for parking behind the building. They also have great pies around the holidays to order. It has been a great addition to our Main Street. read more

i took a 1.5 hour ripta from providence to this bakery do you UNDERSTAND?! it's unmatched deliciousness. that sourdough croissant kills me. i got it at the hope st farmers market two summers ago and became a stan. i got the spinach and feta one for breakfast. then i got the olive sourdough loaf and lowkey ate half of it before making it back to prov. then got the sandwich sourdough loaf to freeze and enjoy until hope st farmers market szn returns. the bakers behind the counter matched my excitement and were so enthusiastic about slicing my loaves. love the rustic vibe inside and the extra goodies they sell on the wall. will need to return for their hand churned butter and bring a cooler. ugh so yummy. read more

Blown away by this beautiful bakery and their DELICIOUS pastries! This spot gets busy but the line moves quickly. They have a wide array of baked goods. We opted for the pistachio croissant and a morning bun. The morning bun was addictive - it tasted like a cross of a croissant and a cinnamon roll. I specifically planned to go to Wakefield on outer vacation week on a day this bakery was open because I've been wanting to try. It did not disappoint. In fact, we ended up stopping back the next day as well. We tried the morning buns which are perfection. So flaky and not overly sweet but still in the realm of a cinnamon roll. I also tried the chocolate croissant (pan chocolate) and my mom tried the raspberry danish. Both were far better than the majority of bakeries we've tried. The spot is adorable and also has good cover and tea. The loaves of bread looked incredible! If I lived nearby, I'd have gotten the loaf of grilled cheese bread. Walked by a few weeks ago, looking for a quick sandwich. Unfortunately most shops are closed on Mondays, including SoCo Bread Co. But, seeing people inside, I stopped to read the front door menu. They waved me in, nice young couple, turned out to be the owners Keri Lyn and her husband Jeff, said they were working to just clean up but would happily make me a sandwich with what they had. Ended up with a fantastic chicken salad on amazing sourdough bread. Wiped down a table for me, brought out the sandwich, and a cookie (free) on the side. Super nice of them to go out of their way, and amazing lunch as well. Encourage everyone to stop in and say hello, even just for the aroma of fresh baked bread. read more

I couldn't wait to write how incredible the housemade lemon curd in the fruit danish I got was. This was the best lemon curd I've ever had in my entire life. WOW! Huge selection of breads and breakfast pastries, a few different kinds of daily danishes, pizza doughs, jams, and coffee beans. Everything looked amazing, it was hard to choose just one thing for myself! (Boyfriend got a sourdough baguette that was crisp on the outside, soft on the inside, GREAT flavor.) A simply outstanding little bakery in the center of charming Wakefield! Excellent breads and terrific pastries, ditto for the jams, olives, and coffee beans that are also available. But for me, it's mostly the pastries - I had a most tasty and satisfying ham & swiss cheese croissant; and one of the best cheese danishes I've ever had. (Look up cheese danish on Wikipedia, and SCBC's version should be pictured there!) We also got a jar each of the mango jam and lemon marmalade - perfect accompaniments to their bread, sliced and toasted. Definitely a must-try when in town! read more

First of all the pastry and the scones in particular are excellent, the croissants less so but still very good. The bread is why you come here and there is always something interesting however be aware that the starter used in all the breads is a sourdough and if you are not partial to that flavor, keep that in mind. An absolute treasure. They bake some of the better breads I've had the pleasure of eating. Since they recently opened in a new location, we've been buying a variety of delicious, healthy bread and have even had a special request made that was superb. Holy smokes, you gotta go. I'll begin with the morning buns. These are hands down the most delicious sweet morning treat I have ever tasted. For those who prefer savory flavors, they offer a ham and swiss or spinach and feta croissant, or a breakfast danish that has egg and varying garnishes. The breads are just beautiful.
