Very quick service, efficient location right off the highway. Food was quick but a little cold. No complaints.

Who needs crayons and a kids menu? These are more environmentally friendly. I had the sampler meal- the pancakes were fluffy and tasty. I asked for crispy bacon and got crispy bacon! My latte came with a heart. The little side salad with homemade dressing - mmmmm. Other things ordered: kids waffle, kids pancakes, breakfast sandwich, corn beef hash (had real corn beef).

We opted to sit at the bar to eat sooner; it's made of beautiful sculpted wood facing a cute tiled wall. Our waitstaff was so nice and helpful despite being extremely busy with constant orders. I had a mushroom, spinach, and cheese omelette with wheat toast and the signature breakfast salad with warm bacon and onion dressing. The salad is DELICIOUS and I highly recommend it. The omelet was decent-I prefer my ingredients inside the omelet and this restaurant serves the ingredients on top, so it's a preference thing. Anyway, if you are hanging around the downtown Dells, definitely check out this cafe, but be patient because a lot of other folks are, too!

I've waited a while to allow the vacation glow to wear off so I can give an honest evaluation of…read morethe restaurant. The best part: The scrambled eggs. Whatever they are doing to get them as thick, creamy and delicious, don't stop. My kids who are avowed egg haters devoured them. The breakfast meats are all top quality. Thick cut bacon, and old style sausage links, both cooked to perfection. The biscuit and gravy is delightful in that way that you can only get by using real ingredients, not from a can. The warm doughnuts are very good, but IMO overrated. They're a cake style that would be mealy once they cooled...not my preference. The ambiance is log cabin shanty with nods to the area's logging past. But honestly by tge time you're seated, you are to frazzled to enjoy it. The bad: The price. When you break it down, it was $90 for four people for breakfast. Ouch! I get it, locally sourced foods, overhead, etc.. but...woah! All in all, we are glad we stopped for the experience. We were saddened to see that the Lumber Jack Show has recently closed. So keep that in mind as you choose your destination.

BUYER BEWARE: GIFT SHOP WARNING Be extremely cautious making…read moreany purchases in the gift shop you're forced to weave through when entering and exiting. We bought our daughter a NeeDoh squishy, and before we even left the parking lot to head back to Chicago, it was already broken. The original cashier was wonderfully sweet and swapped it out without hesitation. Unfortunately, the replacement broke within seconds of normal use in the car. When I went back in for a refund, the cashier understood, but the manager on duty took over and refused to process it. She flat-out refused to give her name (so I'll call her "Karen"), accused my daughter of breaking them by "squeezing too roughly," and claimed they've sold thousands with zero returns. I pointed out that most tourists buy items and immediately drive home, which explains why people don't return. She remained firm, rude, and refused the $8.99 refund. My daughter owns plenty of squishies that last for months--a good manager would recognize a defective batch instead of blaming a child. Unless $9 is coming directly out of her paycheck, there's no excuse for that attitude. RESTAURANT REVIEW As for the food: expect a fairly long line depending on the season and time of day, but once seated, the service is good and the all-you-can-eat food is solid. Just note that kids' pricing is no longer "pay your age"--it's now tiered pricing by age (I've attached a receipt photo for reference). VERDICT: The restaurant itself is definitely worth a stop to eat, but completely skip the gift shop trap. If an item is defective, management won't care and will blame you for it.

Maybe he is new but he could have someone else to his side, explain he was new or even have a tag that said "training" like many other places do. There are different ways to work something out and even if one thing goes wrong, if you are giving and working as a server, it has to be complete. The waitress did not let explain my sister her order, forgot one order when delivering the food along with a coffee pitcher. Also the kitchen was not even wearing gloves when I saw while I was going to the bathroom. At least not the ones close to the food to pick it up. And this picture, it's also something that disappointed me. So probably it's part of the restaurant , i don't know if "presentation" or way to show it but how can you deliver a shake along with what is "left of it" in a container like that one? And the "left overs" were even worse than the container and the outside of it, dirty. It's like ordering a soup and then they give you the pan or the container they made it with. Prices were eh, it's understandable since everything it's going up but come on, your services sucks. Not only him was kinda bad but everyone else, my sister even saw someone chewing a gum , very noticeable while entering the kitchen or the back room. Long story short: First and last time at this IHOP.

When I asked an employee for the price of the drinkware on display, the response was, "I don't know," with no effort to find the answer. Despite four employees standing behind the counter, none attempted to help by checking the price, scanning the item, or asking a supervisor. A woman who appeared to be the manager walked past without acknowledging me or offering assistance. The lack of initiative, accountability, and basic customer service was unacceptable. I did not bother buying anything. If they are this lazy, goodness knows how well they clean the back and take care of food.

We got there around 9:30 and it took us 30 mins to get our food just because it was sitting behind the counter completely forgotten about along with several other orders. And I was waiting on my drink for over 45 mins and they very rudely handed it to me because they put it out without the sticker facing out, and they never called out my name on the order. I would also like to point out all of the cussing I had been hearing behind the counter by the workers. When they handed me my drink she turned it and gave me a look that seemed to say "it's right here stupid" when I had not been complaining to them at all, I simply asked where my drink was, because I had not seen it on the queue for over 10 mins. Overall, very disappointed with the service here. I understand it was busy, but I work with customers myself, and when it's busy we are much better trained than these workers to deal with that. I'm sure you guys have many busy days especially in the morning. I hope these employees get talked to about this and re-trained.
