Stopped in on somewhat of a whim, and found it absolutely delightful. Firstly, the ambience was fun and playful. The "diner" theme was played out throughout, from the signage, tables, tabletop jukeboxes boxes, to the pictures, statues, and menus. I had a great, great omelette with the hash browns, extra crispy, just as I requested. But . . . The added bonus was that servers were attentive, friendly, and engaging. My server, Annalise, particularly caught my attention for what a phenomenal representative she was for the business / restaurant. Not only did she have the three traits above, but she had eyes in the back of her head to ensure that all diners had their needs attended to. She was great with the elderly, the young, and all those in-between!!! An Ambassador for Dennys. I tried the house recipe of the salsa/sauce as a complement to Chalula, but it didn't have enough kick for me. Very good; tomato based and mild. We ordered breakfast from this restaurant while staying in the Wisconsin Dells. The décor is fun and eclectic, and as someone who grew up in the '90s, I really appreciated the nostalgic atmosphere. The restaurant is small, casual, and operates on a cash-only basis, so it's worth keeping that in mind before visiting. Unfortunately, the customer service was underwhelming, as the woman who rang us up came across as somewhat unfriendly. The biggest issue was that we found pieces of eggshell in our eggs after we had started eating, which took away from the experience. This Dennys Diner (not the chain Denny's) has been my go to breakfast place since the 1990's when I visit the Dells. The food is always prepared exactly the way I request, and the waitresses couldn't be friendlier. Although I may only visit once or twice a year they always remember me and what I order. The bacon slices are thick and cooked to perfection; the eggs fresh and delicious. The Meatloaf dinner is so good I often get it to go to take home. Don't forget to try the huge pecan caramel and cinnamon buns! Kids, and adults, will enjoy just looking around at all the nostalgic and vintage things. Had the classic diner (50's) look, inside and out. We were seated, the restaurant was very loud, lots of kids. We got the build your own slams. I got eggs, bacon,pancakes, and a biscuit. Eggs and bacon were not served hot, pancakes tasted great but were barely warm, the biscuit was good but no butter on the table. My boyfriend's food was the same. We were in town for a baseball tournament and for once we didn't have an early morning game. Came here and had a great breakfast. All the standards, all done well. Server was on top of her game and we didn't have to ask for refills or extra stuff. It is cash-only so just make sure you have it before you get there. There is an ATM however, I image the service charge will get ya good. read more

A fun little gem! This restaurant has been around since 1980 and has so many fun, kitschy things to explore! I loved just looking around and seeing all of the things they had over the years. A lot of fun for an 80s kid! Service was fantastic and super friendly! The cinnamon rolls were quite tasty! Next time I would definitely get the caramel apple roll because it sounds divine. My biscuits and gravy were yummy and hashbrowns were good, a little onion-y, but tasted great! If you're not a fan of onion, avoid the hashbrowns, but still highly recommend this place! read more

My family and I had breakfast for the first time at Denny's Diner this morning. Coffee is 4.00 a cup! Chocolate milk is 3.50 for a small glass. So expensive!! The cinnamon roll needed more cinnamon, and the frosting was absolutely horrible, nasty. It was just pure powdered sugar. Not worth the money at all. The portions of food were decent size. The sausage was over cooked. The bacon was so chewy it wasn't eatable. The "fresh" strawberries is canned. Gross. Definitely will not eat at Denny's Diner again. Hard pass. Our server was super busy, she has way too many tables. She was so overwhelmed. There are about 20 tables in the diner. Not a big establishment at all. ONLY ACCEPTS CASH. The service wasn't the best. We had to wait 45 minutes for food, which is understandable when busy but the food wasn't even hot. The so called famous hash browns were disgusting. We were seated right away, placed our order of eggs, American fries and sour dough toast, husband added ham to his. got our coffee right away but Waitress never came back for coffee refill. got our food, Eggs were cooked correctly but both orders of American fries were slimy, cold and not cooked through. Solid breakfast place and not the chain you may be thinking of. They are extremely busy during peak season, and even pretty busy during non-peak hours. We made it in by 8:30 and didn't have to wait but every customer after us did. The food was good, fairly standard breakfast. Cinnamon rolls are good. My wife and I agreed, their dough is what makes the roll. Yeasty flavor that takes you back. The variations are good too. I don't like my fried eggs cooked to a crisp with lots of brown on the bottom. They somehow get quite a bit a brown on the bottom without the egg becoming plasticky here. It was good. Sausage was also good, and the American Fries were great with a peppery seasoning. My son ate the pancakes well and my wife enjoyed the veggie omelette. Decorations are neat here, and the staff is friendly. They may not be the quickest because they are so busy, but many places in the Dells are slower. The are on one of the two main drags too so they are convenient in general. Don't forget to bring cash unless you want to pay an ATM fee. NO CREDIT CARDS. read more

I came back for my 37th birthday after coming in as a kid and while I'm sure it's been updated, the train and things I remembered are still here. They still had the menu item I ate as a kid, the open faced roast beef and wow the service here is excellent! Bri is the best server we ever had anywhere, we never had to ask for anything because she brought us more drinks before we even asked for them. Denny's Diner: I've been going to the Dells since I was a little kid in the 90's, but this was my first time trying Denny's famous cinnamon rolls (although my family did eat there once for breakfast sometime when I was still in middle school). The diner opened in 1980 and has been owned by the Van Schoyck family ever since. Their cinnamon rolls are baked fresh each morning and it is evident by their phenomenal flavor. Each roll is bursting with a buttery, cinnamon flavor. Not only are the rolls big, but they also have an excellent thick and chewy texture. Each cinnamon roll comes with a container of equally superb frosting. I was impressed that the sweet frosting was rather thick, but it manages to also have a perfectly runny/oozy quality to it that makes it easy to spread. For most people the amount of frosting included is sufficient, but since I have such a sweet tooth I added an extra side (just an additional $0.25, totally worth it). This place puts a beat down on Cinnabon. As it's definitely in my top three cinnamon rolls, Denny's Diner's cinnamon rolls are Doughboy approved. I just wish I tried one 25 years earlier. My boyfriend and I stayed the weekend in Lake Delton and saw this gem when we walked for dinner one night. It said "best cinnamon rolls" so I was intrigued. We went the next morning and we're not disappointed. I got a cinnamon roll which was very good! (Maybe not the best ever) but still amazing! And of course reasonable price! He got a big meal- and let me try it of course. It was pretty good! I really liked the ham. The environment was really cool but very busy. Someone walked in on me in the bathroom. If you're in the dells, this place is a must. We've been coming here for the last 20 years or so and never once disappointed. Food portions are extremely generous, great quality food, and excellent service. Ham breakfast is the bomb, and the cinnamon rolls are a requirement. The cinnamon rolls were not famous at all. They are stale as can be and they microwave it before giving it to you which made it harder than a rock. Everything is cash which is crazy in 2025. They have one men's bathroom and one ladies. The men's overflowed so then there was one working bathroom for 100+ people. Philly sandwhich was good and server was nice.
