Register clerk/sale associate totally ignored me I was the only customer on the store. did not greet or even stop or call for another associate just keep playing with paper as to appear busy. This is just a friendly reminder, in life you get what you paid for. Don't waste your time, money and energy going to those Big Box retailers, because you will never get great customer service like Dunn-Edwards. This is my second time coming back and I had the pleasure to work with Ms. Monica. The moment I entered the store she greeted me with a beautiful and pleasant smile, mind you, I never met her before. Right away she asked what type of paint I was looking for and I had also brought in a sample of the interior paint I needed. Within a short time she got me the right paint and the overall experience was excellent. Again, I don't mind paying a little more for high quality paint and above all it's a great value because in the end this quality paint last longer. Best in the west, The Torrance store on Pacific Coast Hyw gives the best service. Shaun helped me with my needs. I did not know what would be best for my project but he did. He explained what I needed and why. Also gave me choices.Shaun was patient and kind. being a senior this was important to me. The store manager was also accommodating. First introduced to Dunn Edwards when we had our house remodeled in 2011. While it is expensive, the quality is better than what you would find at a big retail chain like Home Depot, etc. Best to go through a licensed painter or contractor to take advantage of their pricing. Friendly staff. They go out of their way to explain the different types of paint they carry. You don't have to present when purchasing. Call it in, pay over the phone or at will-call when you pick up. You can also order online and pick up by noon the following day. Had to redo the stucco on the back wall of our home after a repipe. In 2011, we used "Terracotta Sand Spartashield EX FLAT". Was kinda worried that the color might have faded over time with the sun shinning on it, etc. But when we painted over the newly stucco'd area (approximately 10 ft x 2 ft), we couldn't tell the new paint from the existing! We routinely come here to buy paint and like supplies because we really like the high quality of DE paint products. I recently had a situation that now will keep me coming back to this store. We are currently remodeling our kitchen. We've had to wait 20 years to do so, so you can imagine how we want to get this right. Anyway, we needed more paint of two different colors, which of course "have to match" and I needed three color samples as well. I was helped by a nice young man name Andrew. He was very helpful and knowledgeable. He has worked here a good period of time, anyway, didn't have time to wait, would come back next morning to pick up paint. I got there about 8:30 am, paint and samples both ready, except the gallon cans look different from the previous ones, I asked the girl if the gentleman who helped me was there, she said he was and went to get him. Andrew came out and we talked it over. In the end we agreed I'm not a paint ordering pro & didn't understand and maybe he should have asked a few more questions. He was very polite and re-made the paint for me. I feel I was treated very fairly, and I've been back 3 times for more paint, some sample cans and I'll keep going back because I've met 3-4 of the employees now and all are polite and knowledgeable. This is one of my favorite stores to grab my paint and sundries. I feel very welcomed as soon as I come in the doors. All the employees from the tinted all the way to management know me by name even when I haven't been in the area for a while. Dunn should be very appreciative to have such a caring and helpful staff working for them. Those who disagree are probably the problem. read more

Very unprofessional and like to waste contractors time! Placed an order and get to the store to find out it's not ready and " no one took my order". Verified with cashier their phone number and it's the only Torrance store. One guy in the front taking phone orders and in store orders. Big line while most of the staff is at the back chatting away. Not sure why this store is rated lower than the Gardena store. Went to get same paint by using formula on previous Dunn Edwards can. Employees here were nice and friendly. Got me the paint in less than 5 minutes. Also explained in detail when I had extra questions. Service here is better than the Gardena branch where the employee there have short one sentence replies and was not helpful. For some reason the quoted price for the paint was cheaper here too. Came on a Saturday and there wasn't too many customers other than myself. The guys at the customer service desk seemed too busy to help me. My thought is that you should always try to assist the customers first before talking with coworkers, but not here. Unfortunately not here. Good products. Crappy customer service. I walked in with an old dried out can of Dunn Edwards paint hoping to find the same color. Right away I was put off by the employees who seemed too busy staring at their computer screens to even acknowledge a paying customer. I stood there for about a minute and no one even looks up to say hello or welcome or I'll be right with you. And it's not like they were helping other customers - they were just standing behind the counter looking at computer screens for whatever reason. The young man who finally helped me seemed nice enough. He looked up the supposed color match and I came to the side of the counter to look at the color sample displayed on his computer screen. That's when a person who I assume was the manager (big fat guy) barks at me to get away and stand in front of the counter. You're the manager and that's the first thing you say to a customer whom you previously wouldn't even look at? What did he think, I was going to rob the place? Not a good way to treat your customers. When I walked in almost no one there and wait around a couple of minutes and girl returns from her break. She then sells me some interior paint for my exterior project. I figured she would bring me the correct can but message is always check what someone is handing you. Didn't find her very knowledgeable if at all. So I order 5 gallons bucket and she tells me it will take about 45 minutes as they are mixing up a large order. I leave and come back about 50 minutes later store basically empty and I inquire about my order. Turns out they hadn't started it yet but I noticed that others after me had received theirs. So she saunters back and gets the guy to start it. No apologies so I wait around another 10 or so minutes for that and go home with the wrong type of white paint. I don't like wasting time especially when someone else Fs up. So I drive back and exchange the paint. While I like their paint I do like decent service and a little knowledge. I find I know a lot more than the folks working at these various paint and hardware stores. I asked about paint for cabinets and she was clueless. I will pay a little more and stick with Benjamin Moore going forward. read more

Theres a big black girl at the cash register always seems grumpy and everytime i ask question regarding my orders and products, she just point out without saying anything and just tells me "its not ready" without any explanation. On the other hand, theres a white girl(she mostly work in the back) and shes very fast and explains to customers when theres an issue. She needs learn how to treat customers. read more

If Dunn-Edwards has a Paint Selection Olympics, Michelle Evelyn at the Torrance store should win GOLD! After choosing nine (!!) colors by myself to try on our bathroom remodel at a local big box hardware store and finding that none of them worked, I went to Dunn-Edwards. Michelle, who is their paint specialist, encouraged me to try what she calls "chameleon" colors, that take on a different hue depending upon the light and what they're near. So I brought home three paint samples that were way lighter than anything I'd considered, and wound up liking two of them a lot! She's an encyclopedia of paint colors, but even more importantly, she knows what works. Everyone else in the store was helpful too. I'm glad I wound up at Dunn-Edwards, and look forward to buying my paint there for our remodel! read more

Michelle Evelyn has been gone (she is now at Ganahl Lumber Torrance) from this location for a while. I found her here as a color consultant (service they provide) and it was the reason I kept going. I am glad I kept in contact and continue to consult with her at Ganahl regarding my paint choices and paint quality/materials/products. This was a huge loss for DunnEdwards. The service she provides is amazing. My mother in law consulted with another DunnEdwards color consultant (different location) and she actually drove out to see Michelle, that's how gifted and personable she is and how impressive her color choices are. I have since moved myself and drive 60 miles to work with her. I gave 3 stars as Michelle is no longer at this location and I do not want to be negative towards the staff. I read the bad reviews and was unsure of going to this store. But I went. The first time I went I did have to wait a bit. I didn't see the number machine until after I stood there for 10 min. But a cashier knew I had been there awhile so he helped me. Yes, they are pricy. But the paint is great. The gentleman got the paint I wanted and carried it to my car. Very polite and nice.
