Great place to camp, lots of trees and campy goodness with some great amenities that make it extra special!! We stayed two nights and really enjoyed the campground. The dining car was a special treat, the meal overall was very good but could have been better with a little attention to detail. The rigatoni pasta dish was absolutely perfect , popping with flavor and as good as any I've ever had. We ordered a couple glasses of pinot noir with our dinner and when they arrived they were noticeably warm like 80-85 degrees like they had been roasting in the sun , not a pleasant room temp like they should be. We also ordered a large caesar salad that we all split and the lettuce was warm like it was sitting in a window soaking up the sun, plate was not chilled and even if it was it couldn't have cooled down hot lettuce, salad was light on dressing , the halved petite romaine was very bitter, i've purchased this lettuce at costco a couple times and stopped buying it because the petit romaine tends to be very bitter, i love the consistency of the smaller denser heads of lettuce but the bitterness is unpleasant .....hopefully the chef is tasting his food and can see what he thinks. My wife ordered the pasta with shrimp and loved it! My dad had the rib eye and said it was pretty good but maybe not 57$ good. The pasta dishes were 10/10 amazing , reasonably priced and generous in size , the warm wine and salad is an easy fix, it was a nice treat after a week of camping and cooking to not have to , so highly recommend giving them a try for dinner during your stay!! Mountain scenery was incredible from the campground!! The pool was a little crowded at times but we enjoyed a couple hours of pool time both days. The host in the campground Frank and his dog Reno were great !! We really enjoyed our visit and wouldn't hesitate to stop in again, a lovely place to spend a couple days !!! They've gone downhill under the new owners. The food is worse and costs 50% more. We've been going to railroad park resort since the 1990's and eating there every time we come through town - 2-3 times a year. They used to make a great steak, with a deep dark sauce with mashed potatoes and veggies. I recently ordered the steak - $58.00 - making it the most expensive entree in the area (including the high end places in Mccloud, etc) and it had no sear. was under cooked. Had no seasoning. No sauce. The potatoes were rubber and the veggies were gross. The pork chop was similarly under-cooked and had the same sides -so same feedback. I looked for a manager to talk to and couldn't find one. So I messaged them on facebook and they told me I could come by any time and talk to the cook. Where was the cook the night I was there? I was told there was no manager to talk to. I only eat their when vactioning and can't just pop in. I live 5 hours away. If they're going to raise their prices from $40 to $60 for a steak - they need to up their gave. Instead they dropped the ball. The food isn't worth it and they don't care. read more

My husband surprised me by getting us a reservation at this place and I couldn't have been more pleasantly surprised. It was so cute, as we pulled into the park there were about 10-15 colorful train cars and cabooses. Each one was your "room" for the night, and you parked along side of it. They were super cute inside! All wood, several windows, large bed, nice sized bathroom and decorated with train pictures. Staying in the caboose was really a lot of fun. It was clean and nice and warm. The grounds are very well kept, and we enjoyed our stay. The only negative was our Thanksgiving dinner at the restaurant. My salad was quite good, as it was a pea salad, but I had no time to finish it before my entrée arrived. As most people know Thanksgiving dinners out can be amazing. They can be lackluster or they can just be ho hum. I would put ours in that last category. I didn't get any cranberries. I like my gravy on my stuffing not on my potatoes, which tasted like that came out of a box. I would go again because the area around it is beautiful, but I would figure some other way to eat. read more

It's such a fun stop!! I've never stayed in a train and it's definitely better than I imagined. The diner is great. It has live music, full bar and great food! The crispy Brussels sprouts has a fried egg on top which actually tasted really great! I was told they just redesigned the whole menu. The train car rooms and the cabins are historic and suppose that is what you are paying for BUT they and the surrounding area needs updating. For those train cars that have outside chairs, they are just in the dirt. a little paving area would be more comfortable. The cabins would benefit from a bedroom ceiling fan. Other than the cold & snack vending machines something more elaborate would be nice especially on the days the dining car isn't open. Beer & wine even cheese/salami. We used jubilee Railroad as a night stop from a long ride & last thing we wanted to do is get back in the truck to go out to eat. Will not stay here again Not unless the owners put a little upgrade on the place. read more

First time visiting. The lodge grounds are big and beautiful. We loved the creek running through the grounds with butterflies and frogs. The little waterfall with the lily pads was delightful. The rooms are spacious and have comfortable beds. Lots of windows. In the room there is a Tv, microwave, and a fridge that kept our drinks nice and cold. We had dinner in the restaurant which is on the grounds of the lodge; ambience on point with live music. Pricey but worth it, and our server was superb. There is so much to see and do. Games to play and there was even a movie night with fresh popcorn being served. The lodge is not far from several waterfalls. We visited Hedge Creek and it was glorious and magnificent, small hike. Also not far from Historic Dunsmuir. Friendly town where we ate breakfast and dinner on our last night. Overall, all that we did and saw was worth every dollar. We plan to return in the future for more adventures. read more

Yuck. Sorry that is not a very sophisticated review. But I have to be honest, chef wonderful, is "average" at best. I am a tad arrogant, having access to the some of the best cuisine by living close to San Francisco. Now to be fair, their price point reflects what you see sitting on the plate before you. The service is polite. Ambiance is fun. I ran around in these train cars as a child while vacationing with family 30 years ago. My advice would be, go with what works. The previous owner had it going on, knew the territory so to speak. This place has "warning Will Robbinson" all over it, like sushi in Kansas. A tuckered out Fly Fisherman would prefer a great steak and baked potato. No shame in that, it is the pillar of American dining. If I want foo-foo, I will go to SFO. But then again, I think the food in Paris is "OK", (specifically their entrees) Paris has great bread, crackers and cheese. Alright, pastry, baguets, and fromage. All the offerings in Italy are amazing and the only thing to eat in the UK are chippies. The best "foo foo food" was Betlenut Pan-Asian on Union Street in San Francisco. Lost their lease however. THAT was the bom-d-idly. Hey if you want a fabulous steak, try Jacks in DT Redding. Great place, but you will wait an hour, maybe two. But it is worth the wait. Has an interesting provenance, the location and building itself, was a house of ill repute back in the FDR days, so the legend goes. Cafe Maddalena in Dunsmuir is excellent as well. This faux fusion/euro/cubano/too cool to be true... might make 2 years max. It is the epitome of "The fastest way to make a small fortune, out of a large fortune is to start a restaurant." If you want amazing food and a unique space, this is it. With Castle Crags looming over railroad cars that serve as restaurant and hotel rooms, you won't be disappointed. The new chef, Adam, has set the bar high. All the food has amazing flavor. My wife and I swapped bites between our orders of the cowboy pork chop and fried chicken. Both of these are literally the best we've ever had. The Apple Tart was also the best I've ever had. The indifference of management to problems we experienced was really inappropriate and rude. When we were looking for places to stay along I-5 in the colder season, we specifically searched on places with hot tubs. This establishmen's hot tub turned out not to be available, perhaps not working, and while the groundskeeper was really cool and tried to help, management would not see to the issue and refused to give us a partial refund. We were hardly asking for anything, like 30 bucks for three of us, something minor like that compared to the cost of renting the railroad car. Follow up emails about this resulted in them sending canned email responses and clearly not caring about their customers. It is too bad, because we really loved staying in the adorable railroad car, even though it was musty and the beds weren't super great. The location is beautiful. I just don't appreciate being ignored and shoved under the rug for a very reasonable request. I will not be coming back with my family. read more

We wanted a nice stop 1/2 way between Bend and Sacramento and the Railroad Park did not disappoint! The honeymoon car was roomy and full of interesting touches. The hot tub was clean and hot. But best of all was a great dinner in their authentic railroad car restaurant. Excellent bar and table service. Excellent food. The sax and rhythm jazz duo was perfect. Loved the bossa nova & posh classics from the 50s. To top it off there was a Halloween haunted car (it was 10/29) it was lots of fun. The Adam's Family Movie was playing on a big screen in the courtyard among the gas heaters. Five Stars. A real gem of a place. 10 miles south of Mt Shasta. This place is incredible, especially for families with young kids! The dining car doesnt have a big menu, but the food I did have & drinks were great! The kids menu was perfect as well. We stayed in caboose #20, the only one with a deck overlooking the pool. It was perfect and the main hangout spot for the other families we were with. The pool area/picnic tables were in the perfect location as was the little stream and bridge the kids played in. For reference i have a 3 and 2 year old. My nephew even caught some tadpols and frogs! This is a great spot for families, cant wait to come back. read more

She gave good suggestions on which wings to get. The blackberry jalapeño BBQ wings were freaking delicious, it was such a good sauce combo. And these weren't some puny tiny wings these were some massive ones, so yes we were definitely pleased. I loved the margarita. Our bartender made it perfectly. I rarely leave negative reviews but I was really disappointed with the Mother's Day buffet at Jubilee. For how expensive it was, the food quality was unbelievably bad. The meat was so dried out it was difficult to even eat, the ziti was mushy and sloppy, and the mac and cheese tasted exactly like boxed macaroni with no flavor or effort put into it. Nothing tasted fresh. Even the desserts were disappointing and very obviously store bought. This place used to have genuinely good food. Under the previous owners, everything felt well run, homemade, and worth the money. Now it feels like corners are being cut everywhere while customers are still being charged premium prices. Spending that much money for food that felt cafeteria-quality was honestly frustrating. The restaurant itself also felt cluttered and messy. There was random stuff piled behind the bar, around the host stand, and even on top of the bar itself, which made the whole place feel unorganized and less clean overall. The one positive was our server, who was wonderful and did a great job despite everything else. Unfortunately, the food and atmosphere were bad enough that I wouldn't return, especially for the amount of money we spent. If you're considering spending your money here for a special occasion, I would genuinely recommend saving your time and money and going somewhere else. We left disappointed, annoyed, and feeling like we paid premium prices for food that absolutely did not match the cost. read more

We had this on our list of places to stay in our RV on our way back home from Oregon to SoCal...we had high hopes based on what we saw on the website. Our son was super pumped and was hoping to see some trains there but only one to go on. The pathways to the creek are not groomed and are filled with bushes with thorns...again a miss :-(. Our spot was great and the running creek sound nd mountains were beautiful (this was a plus). They havewasp traps everywhere as there are tons of them, so be aware (I know we are outdoors, though this place has a ton of them). We were going to stay two nights but only stayed 12 hours (6pm to 5:45am) because it was a ghost town, especially on Monday and Tuesdays (restaurant is closed), they never answer phones or return calls...the playground for kids is full of wasps and run down (so we couldn't use it) :-(. Paid for two nights and had to eat the cost of the second night... :-( A good place to crash if you need to but nothing more than that. Needs a bit more TLC. read more

We stayed at the RV campsite park of this park. As we drove past the cable car restaurant and trains, we thought it could be fun to stop by, but it was so hot out at too far a walk in that heat. As we pulled up to check in, we were told we had 15 minutes until the office closes (@5pm). We were showed our site and left to our own device. We got settled in and were excited to plug in because our batteries were running low and we needed to charge them. But that never happened. Our sites power was not working. We had to run our generator as long as possible to which only made the area hotter. The rig was over 90 degrees. There was no breeze outside and since it was after 5pm and we had zero internet access as well, there was no way to contact anyone for help. We made it work. It was just a stop over spot. As we left the next day we mentioned that there was an electric error on our site and we were met with attitude and felt disregarded. The guy told us we could have walked to the restaurant to get a hold of someone. The little paper given to us did not mention anything about where to go after hours if there was no reception. It was just a mess and glad we did not spend more time here. Pros- quiet, lots of shade, can walk around the campsite down to the stream, large pull through spots. read more

What a concept dining in a railroad car! We chose to have dinner on the patio. I had the salmon dinner and it was delicious, not at all dry, just moist, yummy salmon. Having a health conditions limits me from having any sauces on top so for it to be moist is nearly impossible. Hubby had the pork chop dinner and enjoyed it. The mashed potatoes looked amazing! I had a mocktail suggested by our very efficient but not hovering server with blood orange + ginger beer and it was fantastic. Going to try and recreate it at home. Give this spot a try! I have had breakfast here throughout the past few years. Recently, they remodelled their restaurant. I was impressed with the stunning interior finishes that would be more in line with a fine dining experience but with a historic...rustic ambience. I felt I had stepped back in time. I am originally from Southern California, Orange County area. The wait staff were personable and attentive. I chose to sit on their patio with a great view of Castle Crags. Cherie, was amazing! She came by my table regularly to check on me to see how everything was tasting and if there was anything I needed. Their menu choices are now organic! My breakfast was fresh and full of good ole' fresh farm/ranch goodness. I was so impressed, I came back at lunchtime later that week and had the best hamburger! *** RESTAURANT REVIEW ONLY *** I really wanted to like this place... but I was so disappointed. and so many negative aspects to our experience, I'm really stretching with giving this place a 2 star. It honestly should be a 1 star review but they comped 2 of our 5 alcoholic drinks (lol) and gave us 2 free basket of fries. I also liked the ambiance and eating since a train. But that's about it. - THE WAIT We had reservations at 5pm. We were sat right away but our service was slow. We looked at the menu before we got to the restaurant so everyone knew what they wanted. We ordered our food, drinks and appetizers around 5:15pm but didn't get our food until 6:25pm. Everyone at the table ordered the burger except one of the kids who ordered the mac n cheese. Really NO excuse to have to wait over an hour to cook 5 burgers and fries. She came out about 45 minutes after we ordered and acknowledged the wait, and did 10 more minutes. But over 30 minutes passed since then before the food came out. - THE FOOD Again, we all orders the burger. The burgers were all inconsistently cooked. We weren't asked how we wanted them cooked. But we all compared our burgers. So were WELL done. Some were medium rare. Just inconsistent across the board. The buns were also kind of hard. Nothing was done on preparing them. They weren't toasted or warmed up. Just room temp buns, which were a little hard. My brother even "thumped" the top bun with his finger to make a point it was hard. The bun made a loud, hallow thump sound and it remained the exact same. Didn't even make a dent in the bun. At least warm the bun! The fries were also bad. We all ordered different fries (sweet potato, garlic parm, regular, and cajun. They all came out cold. We told the waitress and she brought us 2 new baskets of fries which were all hot and crispy and actually good tasting. Why couldn't they have been that wet the first time ? The mac n cheese was also not very good. Just tasted like noodles. We ordered it for the kids, off the kids menu, so we were hoping it was a little cheesy, but it was pretty tasteless. - THE GRATUITY 18% gratuity automatically added because we had more than 8 in our party. Makes this place seem like a scam because our experience was terrible yet we were still forced to tip 18% like we loved our service and our meal. It's a total shame. No one needed to work hard tonight because that tip was already included... and it showed for sure. Overall a really bad experience. Glad they gave us 2 out of the 5 drinks for free. Not sure why two but it was a nice gesture. We planned on going here for breakfast but we will definitely skip that and go somewhere else :( read more

Railroad Inn RV Park, Dunsmuir, CA- October 7, 2024 We arrived at the RV PARK at the 1 pm checkin time on a Monday afternoon. This is a great stop about 4 hours north of Sacramento if you're driving about 60 mph. Our campground host greeted us the moment we arrived and took us to our site. The campground has beautiful mature 60 foot tall pine trees that provide ample shade on a hot Summer's day. They have full hookups with picnic tables and fire pits. The sites are relatively spacious. We were only doing a 1 night stop over on this trip, so we didn't check out the diner, which from previous experience has great food and drinks, and on most nights has live musical entertainment. read more

Having been completely updated and sold to a new owner, the new "Jubilee Railroad" had dropped a bit in quality and service from it's days of being Railroad Park. We had dinner and breakfast there. They were not bad meals, but the increased cost is notable. Their Hamburger comes with FAR LESS goodies on it and instead was secreted under a pile of caramelized onions that was pretty sad, and costs more. Mine went back to the dishwasher. The night we were there it was very busy, and our waitress, a TRUE asset to the place, was humiliated by the SLOW service and gave us a big discount for that. It took over an hour to get served dinner, too long. Add to that, my partner ordered the the Pork Chop which was brought UNCOOKED and had to be returned to the kitchen, from which it came back "mostly cooked" but not 100%. That too mostly went back to the dishwasher. You NEVER serve Raw Pork, PERIOD. When we had breakfast a few days later it took nearly as long, despite almost no one else in the place. My partner was on lunch break from her work and was 40 minutes late getting back. The breakfast menu has been shortened and notably missing several previous favorites like the Cube Steak with Eggs. What I did have was the basic breakfast which was good, well prepared and tasty, but again, took far too long to get it, and again, not our waitress's fault at all. $11 for 1 coffee and 1 OJ was the kicker, our breakfast for two was over $60 with tip. For Dunsmuir, especially in the winter months when the tourists are gone, this won't fly. I wish I could be more positive, if the place is this slow with a mostly experienced staff what will it be like when run by STUDENTS, which is the next phase of change to the place, to be run by the students of the college there, which cannot but be bad news for the current employees, some of whom have been there years. Their jobs will be taken by inexperienced young people who are 'passing thru' the area with zero intent to stay and establish homes and families. As far as ambiance the place is lovely, excepting the mismatched carpet and wall paper, a bit on the garish side IMHO. I wish them luck, they'll need it. They'll get very little business from us, and what many locals are saying is the same, they're disappointed and won't frequent the place much. read more

Absolutely Adorable Stay at Jubilee! We stayed at Site #18, conveniently close to the office, and absolutely loved our time here! The entire park is quiet, quaint, and incredibly charming. The arcade was such a fun bonus, and we enjoyed playing bags and horseshoes--there's plenty to do right on-site! We were so bummed the dining car was under renovation because it looked like such a unique place to eat, but that just gives us one more reason to come back. We spent time exploring nearby Faery Falls and Hedge Creek Falls--both beautiful and worth the visit. While Dunsmuir itself doesn't have a ton to do, it's still a ridiculously cute town, and Jubilee is the perfect place to land if you're exploring Mt. Shasta. We're already planning our return trip for next year! read more

The appetizers were awful.Half an artichoke was hard as rock so he brought out another one which was burnt to a crisp. The sample plater was a mess and he told us it was a experiment.lol Yep Main course was worse! Cold vegetables,chicken was burnt, filet was the size of a half dollar and burnt,my salmon was ok but all sides were cold. The only up side is the server was very nice. But not worth the hundreds of $$ spent for this Birthday dinner! If this is how this new 5 star Chef cooks, they need to get rid of him!!Never going back! Super fun location! Pickings are slim in this quiet little town unless you want to drive elsewhere. We came up for my birthday weekend and spent time mostly in Dunsmuir, and conveniently enough this spot was like 1/2 mile from our spot where we stayed. It sounded fun so I wanted to try it. It was a cute spot, festive theme with the trains since Dunsmuir was a huge railroad town back in the day. Nice to see that history showcased. Our food was good overall, not mind blowing but also no complaints. I ordered the chicken marsala, my guy actually got the dirty fries as his meal since it had all the things he wants and the order was HUGE! Our friends got the ribeye and the salmon. I was a little surprised the salmon wasn't served with the delicious homemade sauce cooked ON the salmon but served in a heap on the side, made for weird presentation. My chicken was delicious, the sauce was the star of the table. The waitress brought an extra side since she knew it was amazing and the whole table got down on that goodness! My family and I stayed here last year when it was still the Railroad Resort. We stayed in caboose 26 and my in-laws stayed in a cabin. This year we were in caboose 1 and my in-laws rented a cabin (superintendent). We also stayed one night in the RV campground last year and 3 nights this year so that my son could have a true camping experience. First, the cabooses are great. AC and a full bath, pretty clean. I did wish that I could open a window as all the windows are sealed shut in caboose 1 (caboose 26 had a cupola on top where you could open a window but there's no screen so bugs could get in). However, I'm not a camping type so it was fine. Second, the cabin last year had a full kitchen and this year (even though the listing said it had a full kitchen) the cabin did not, so that was a disappointment as everything was booked. Nonetheless, it has been a good experience both times. The RV camp site was great and the restaurant has been updated (good updates with the interior as well as the menu) . This is a nice place to take your family, especially if you have little ones. Just make sure that if you rent a cabin, have them verify that there is a full kitchen so that you're not driving up with perishables and nowhere to put them. Other than that, I definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants a unique resort experience. Staying in a caboose is pretty cool and the new management has done a good job making sure that their customers are comfortable. Like I said, I'm more of a glamper and this was definitely the best of both worlds. read more

We showed up on a rainy day and had a good time exploring Dunsmuir. The railcar was a unique experience. Our car had an issue with ants, which may be due to the forested terrain. Dining car is closed for renovations and we were informed the property is under new ownership. The Railroad Park will be rebranded and relaunched in the near future. So visit soon if you want to experience the historic Railroad Park. read more

The new dinner menu in the recently renovated Jubilee Railroad did not disappoint! My husband and I shared the delicious harissa muscles & hand cut fries to start, a perfect accompaniment to our gorgeous craft cocktails. We followed this with the wild mushroom risotto and line-caught cod. Both were absolutely scrumptious and we kept stealing bites from each other's plates! We so appreciate their focus on local & organic ingredients, and the experience of eating in the gorgeous art-deco dining car was absolutely stellar! Never coming back. Went for Easter brunch and overheard the chef asking one of the servers if he is retarded and tell him that he is bad at his job. Also overheard him telling another customer that this server was "pissing him off"... Disgusted by the way he was speaking to him. read more
