Showed up for my 9:30 appointment for a 1 hour pedicure (95 dollars btw) and did not leave until 11:30. The woman doing my toes had no idea what she was doing. She over cut my big toe, it started bleeding, and then she tried to file it down after it bled.. like????? I had to tell her to stop because I was in so much pain. The water also kept draining from the tub because she didn't have a plug. Just terrible. Literally the worst pedi of my entire life. Would not recommend. read more

This was by far one of the best pedicures I ever gotten, also the most costly (I've never spent $95 for a pedi, EVER!). I got the $75 pedi and paid $20 for extra treatment on my callous (which was much needed). They do have a $50 pedi but my feet looked horrible. An African American woman with locs did my pedicure and she did a phenomenal job. You hear me?! Phenomenal! The massage was the best I ever gotten from a nail salon. After a long workday, I treated myself to one of the best pedicures I've ever had! I called ahead for a 5:45pm gel pedicure appointment. Upon arriving, I was immediately drawn to the salon's modern and stylish decor--everything felt contemporary and cool, and most importantly, sanitary. Ashanti, my nail technician, was exceptional. She took her time, listened to my concerns, and was very attentive. It was so chill and enjoyable, I sat back, relaxed, and sipped on a mimosa while Ashanti meticulously worked. I've already booked my next pedicure with her for an event in September. I'm eager to try more of Duo's services, and I can't wait to share this new spot with friends! Midtown Detroit has needed a beauty salon like this. Duo is modern and sleek in appearance and very clean. Additionally the pedicure and manicure chairs are super comfy so get ready to relax. I had the pleasure of getting a shellac manicure from Maria and she did an outstanding job. She took her time and was meticulous in her work. The manicure includes a collagen treatment and let me tell you that my skin has not felt this soft in years. Additionally the instruments are packaged for each client which ensures top notch hygiene. All of the staff were attentive and ensures I was having a great experience. The salon offers manicures, pedicures, facials, scalp treatments and blowouts. Grabbed a last minute appointment as I was in need of a pedicure and a dip soak off for my nails. I immediately was in love with the sleek and modern interior. Super clean and clearly new. The book they present their nail color options in is even fancy. Perfect vibe for the neighborhood. Giving it 3 stars as myself and my friend had a just okay pedicure experience. The technicians both seemed new to the profession and were instructing each other throughout our service. I had to request a pretty splotchy spot on my toes to be redone. At no point did the owner initiate a greeting or ask how are things going. She did eventually observe that my dip soak off wasn't going so well and took over for the nail tech but didn't get the friendly service or expertise I'd expect for the price. read more

My daughter saved up to surprise me on Mother's Day and treat me to a head spa experience. I was really excited because I have been obsessively watching videos on this experience all over the country. To say I was disappointed would be an understatement. [[HIGHLIGHT]]From the moment I walked into the door I felt like an inconvenience.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I sat down and had my scalp analysis. Which was neat to see. From there, I was taken to a corner with no privacy. The "bed" is like an uncomfortable pedicure chair that actually left bruises on my lower back after all was said and done. In the videos I watched, masks were put on the eye. I had a scratchy wash cloth and it fell off often. I understand one cannot remove clothing because you receive this service on a busy floor next to other guests. But after all was said and done, the back of my shirt was absolutely drenched. I had to take it off once I got in my car. My service was finished and instead of being brought back to one of the stations where the camera was to look at your hair. I was placed at a manicure table to have my hair dried. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The girl who did my scalp massage i can only imagine must be new, but she also sympathized with me. When I stood up from the massage chair, her first response was, "you weren't comfortable were you?"[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I mean what gave it away? lol I asked about parking validation on my way out. That apparently is not a thing, so be prepared for that: overall, I would not be back to this location. The concept is incredible, but if I am going to pay $125, I would hope to have some quiet...privacy and the massage and destress of what I thought this experience was supposed to be. I wanted to love this spa/ salon but was not impressed. I booked a appt for a Scalp Nourish treatment and was super excited. I know the salon is newer so I will give some cushion for being new. I was shocked that for a Saturday at 11:30am I was the ONLY customer. That should have been my first sign. The person doing my treatment seemed like she had never done this before and I was understanding that they are new but for $150+ for this treatment I expected WAY higher quality service. She was having issues with the water and temperature which again, I understand things happen but for a place to be advertising and promoting this scalp service, this should have never been a issue. Instead of handling the issue my service provider kept telling me what was going on giving me a play by play which did not enhance any part of the experience. I ended up having to move chairs which I understand happens but for this to be one of the main services offered, I found it annoying. A discount or free service would have made me feel like she cared or wanted to make it right but that was not offered. I will say the massage was good but everything else kind of distracted away from the experience. I was told during the steaming scalp portion I would recieve a hand massage and that was forgotten as well. I almost would rather not know about a service I am supposed to get opposed to just brushing it under rug. I was asked if I wanted a blowout and how long my hair takes to dry. I think if you are getting a professional blowout that is $55+ it shouldn't matter how long it takes to dry? If you dont have time just say so. I was burned a few times which again told me that this was not a experienced person. I asked for a bouncy blowout and left with straight hair. I wanted to leave ASAP honestly and left her a 20% tip that was not deserved in my opinion but I didn't want to deal with being there a moment longer. Unfortunately I would not recommend Duo and would advise you to save your money and just get a shampoo at a local salon instead. I would pay maybe $40 for what I received opposed to $184+ $40 tip = $224. I have been to the top spas in the Metro Detroit area and they have given me the quality service that matches the price. read more

I've been here twice, since their opening, and I enjoyed the experience both times. The first time I got a gel pedi and a gel x mani. Though the young lady that did my pedi seemed new she did a great job. My gel x was done by the owner and though I'm not used to medium/long nails I LOVED them! The second time I just got a gel mani/pedi. Though it did go over time, for me (I took my lunch break to have them done and was nervous I would be late getting back to work) but both were done well. I will say my cuticles, this time round, could've been cut a little cleaner. But I love the color and the for someone with carpal tunnel the hand massage was great! read more

I really wanted to like this spa, because of the location, but the pricing is insane. I was charged $115 for a manicure on my natural nails, when they couldn't even get the "cat eye" effect to work. They had to put 4 coats on to attempt it, and my nails do not look good at all. Be careful, they will try to sell you on a ton of add ons and each will cost you $15-$25. Terrible experience. Paid $200 for the Duo Signature and basically paid to have my hair shampooed twice. I laid down in the massage chair and the girls next to me were discussing the chair's massage - I asked if mine could be turned on and they acted surprised and told me that it has been broken for a while. So for 2 hours I had two things sticking into my shoulder blades. They never asked about allergies or sensitivities or skin type prior to putting things on my face. They also falsely advertised. They said the experience came with acupuncture- it did not. They said it should have said "acupressure." I want my money back. read more
