Since living in the Chicago area, I have had my hair done at a few different places, but have never been impressed enough to make any of these salons my "go to" spot. That is until today! I will definitely be returning to Dye Hard, as I am extremely happy with the services I received. First and foremost, making an appointment was effortless. I called on Tuesday and easily secured an appointment for Thursday. I even had an opportunity to speak with Susie, the stylist who was going to be taking care of me. That was cool as I had a chance to introduce myself, tell her how I heard about her, and share with her what I was looking to do at my appointment. So, I had my hair highlighted and trimmed. The color turned out gorgeous. I look sun-kissed and summer ready, without looking over processed. I explained to Susie that I wanted very thin, natural looking highlights. She gave me exactly what I wanted! I have had stylists do what THEY want with my hair, but Susie definitely delivered what I asked for. I also had my hair trimmed. Now, when I say trim, I mean trim! That's what I want, that's why I ask for it. I want the least amount of hair taken off. I can't tell you how many stylists I have had that have taken off inches of my hair, but not Susie! She cut a very small amount off the ends of my hair and kept my length! In my book, one of the greatest qualities a stylist can possess is the ability to listen. Susie listened to what I wanted and delivered with both the color and the cut. Cheers to that! Aside from Susie's skills as a hair stylist, she is also a very sweet person. I enjoyed myself from the time I sat in her chair to the time I exited the salon. She was personable and bubbly and we had a lot to talk about. Excellent hair styling skills paired with a great personality are the perfect ingredients for an amazing experience at a salon. Finally, I was impressed with the owner. He was working alongside Susie, coloring a client's hair. Too cool! An owner that knows his stuff. He also checked on me while I was waiting for my color to process and offered me a refreshment in addition to checking on my color. I like the whole "all hands on deck" vibe I got from Dye Hard, it made me feel like I was in good hands. So, to sum it all up. If you are looking for a salon that offers great service and knows their stuff, I would certainly give Dye Hard a try. If you are a city dweller, Western Springs is only a 30 minute drive and it is worth it! Did I mention that for a full head of highlights and a cut, my bill only came out to $120! I still can't believe that! What a steal for a job well done. If you want to pay out the BoOty for the ambience of a city salon with mediocre services, stick to where you are going. If you would like to venture outside the box and are looking to walk away looking and feeling like a million bucks, drive your patOotie to Western Springs! :)

Blinds me driving out of my driveway, and in my house at night during trips to the bathroom, and while I'm in the kitchen cooking. Like having a semi's high beams shining at my house all night. Have some common decency people! The complex already looks like a cheap used car lot with lights every few feet, now your paranoid asses have to add search and rescue lights on top of it? And, you can't even spring for ones with motion sensors? They're blaring all night long! I asked 2 of the businesses in the complex to rectify. Nothing! I'm surprised they haven't blinded motorists yet. They should outlaw those things, or at minimum, require them to be pole-mounted, facing the owners building or dwelling. That would put a quick end to those obnoxious things. This is taken from the Palos Park Village Ordinances: Bookmark1476.03 LIGHTING LIMITS; DESIGN REQUIREMENTS. (a) No luminaire with a lamp or combined lamps rated at a total of 1100 lumens or less shall, at any time, emit light which shall exceed one-half foot-candle of power at the property line. Such a luminaire shall have a maximum mounting height of twenty-five feet and, if the lamp is aimed, directed or focused such as to cause direct light from the luminaire to be a nuisance to residential buildings on adjacent or nearby land, or to create glare perceptible to persons operating motor vehicles on public ways, the luminaire shall be redirected or its light output controlled as necessary to eliminate such conditions.
