I lost a Mazda key fob and had a duplicate fob programmed by a company working at Costco. To my surprise, when we opened my fob so we could copy the Emergency key, the key was missing altogether. So they couldn't cut a new key until I obtained a code from a Mazda dealer. I asked if they would cut a second key for my existing fob and they said yes, but I would have to purchase a blank Emergency key. The first locksmith I called didn't have them, but referred me to Dup-a-Key. I purchased a blank from them and returned to the company at Costco. When they cut the key using the dealers code, it didn't work. They told me I probably have the wrong code. But he admitted they have a lot of problems cutting Mazda keys. So he gave me a fresh blank one and I left. I contacted the dealer again and my code was correct. So I returned to Dup-a-Key, where they cut emergency keys with no issues, using the same code. They only charged $20 to cut both keys. It pays to use a real locksmith shop! read more

He quote a very fair price and then proceeded to work, answering my (semi) technical questions along the way. I had already checked out how this was done on YouTube, and the many comments in other places of how this can be tricky and fraught with error if you don't know what you are doing. They responded immediately and had their excellent locksmith, Orion, out to my house within the hour for a door that could not be locked with the deadbolt. Orion was young, but obviously very experienced as he quickly assessed the situation and presented me with a couple of options for the repair. These guys are great. 90 year old Ford rear trunk hinge locks would not lock for years. I brought the key and a couple spare lock parts.
