Yay alcohol! But honestly this place was a pleasant surprise while at Alligator Adventure next door. We came by for the included wine tasting with Alligator Adventure tickets and we upgraded to the deluxe tasting. Worth the upgrade because you get a dip and a glass of wine at the end of the tasting for an extra $5 (a drink by itself is $5). The tasting was fun and informative, never heard muscadine so many times in my life. We ended up liking it so much we went back for a second tasting and our second tasting master person was much more informative and turned the same tasting into a whole different experience. They give you house made crackers (quite thick so beware) and the glass you use during the tasting as freebies for the tasting. Almost 99% of the wines are super duper sweet so if this is not your thing, steer clear. Our tasting master lady actually said wineries in California call Duplin the red neck winery because of it. I thought that was sweet LOL. My favorite was Christmas Eve since its so close to the holidays (September) and yes they have live music and outdoor seating. Make sure to try out their rocking chairs at the front while you sip on their wine, staring out at the bayou across the street. Perfect Southern Style. read more

Went with my wife for a tasting here, we are locals. In the beginning the pourer goes around the room like we are in elementary school asking us to tell where we are from. When my wife tells Mary Kay that we do not want to play along, she freezes and harshly asks once again "where are you from?" Not wanting to deal with her imposing attitude, my wife states South Carolina. Halfway through the tasting she makes a joke about how one of the words she used may have been misunderstood for a racial slur at one point in time in another tasting session. Not amusing or appropriate. All in all I did not sign up to be talked at or forced to hear someone croak on for 15 minutes. I don't care about how "wonderful" Brunswick County was ten years ago. I advise going to Aspen, CO and taking an unguided wine tasting where it is at will and not tasteless like this place. Up there they do not cram you in on top of each other around a square table with a bunch of other strangers. You have nice two person tables to sit at, then you revisit the counter if u want to try another. Would not recommend this place unless you want to sit out back with the retired military/UPS man who sings like an angel! Give that man more money and his own gig read more

My boyfriend and I took a moment away from family vacation and decided to check out this winery. I love all wines, he loves sweet wines, so after reading the reviews I figured we didn't have anything to lose! For $10 each we tasted 12 different wines (2 were "bonus") with crackers, cheese dip, we got to keep the glass, and a full glass of wine of any of the wines that were part of the tasting. I thoroughly enjoyed the tasting as the bartender initially did a great job of making everyone feel included. However, once she discovered some people were from her home town it seemed that she favored them more. Not the end of the world. Many of the wines tasted good, but pretty similar to me. My favorite part was drinking our full glass of wine on the patio while listening to live music. The wines were inexpensive too, we bought three bottles to take back to Pittsburgh with us! Oh me oh my... such a great experience. The wine tasting was ridiculously inexpensive. For $5.00 you taste 13 muscadine wines, enjoy homemade crackers and you keep your glass as a souvenir. You simply can't beat that! Ronnie (who I think is one of the owners) was WONDERFUL. He made the tasting informative and entertaining. He interacted with everyone attending the tasting and was very personable. Ronnie was knowledgeable of the wine selections and was a great conversationalist. The winery has only been open a month and is on it's way to becoming a Myrtle Beach staple. I would definitely return. Note: The tasting selections change every 3 months!!! read more

Nice atmosphere, knowledgeable staff, good live music at a the outdoor bar. We paid for the Deluxe Wine Tasting. Only 2 of the 12 wines were dry wines, the rest were sweet. If you prefer to swirl the wine in your glass and smell it before drinking, be aware those are behaviors associated with what our guide called "snooty California wine tastings". People stopped doing this after being embarrassed by that characterization. Our guide said in the South we aren't snooty and instead do the PDR approach - Pour, Drink, Repeat. I wouldn't recommend the Tasting here because I believe you should be able to taste your wine the way you prefer and not be ridiculed. read more

First,I would like to say we did the 10 dollar tasting and it was a nice tasting. However, I have no understanding why on earth they would allow people with children in these tastings. I complained and was told they are a family owned business and that is why. Well, it was my daughter's birthday and this was a gift for her. Our experience was ruined by the screaming crying choking baby and the lady letting her child crawl over the bar area. The guy giving us the tasting had to stop several times because he could not be heard over this child. This is not acceptable. Also, since I complained someone should have at least apologized. I will never give Duplin my business again. There should be places only adults are allowed. If your going to allow children then maybe not in the actual tasting. I mean the parents are drinking a good amount of alcohol and then driving these kids from your establishment. How is this legal? read more

We are from pa. and we're just driving around the area to check things out and found this winery . Everyone was very nice and the wine tasting is great for 10.00 you get to taste 10 wines you get cheese dip and crackers with it and when the tasting is done you also get a full glass of wine of your choice and you keep the glass from the tasting. Got a Groupon for a deluxe wine tasting for 2 while on vacation in Myrtle Beach. I've been to tastings at other wineries where you just go up to the bar and pick a few wines and try them and that's it. First let me say that I'm not much of a wine drinker, but I loved this place! For the tastings, they take you back as a group with your own private bar tender. We were each given crackers and this amazing pineapple habanero cream cheese dip. Everyone gets a scorecard with a list of the 10 wines we'll be trying and a souvenir wine glass. Our bartender, Sue, did a wonderful job of giving us the details of each wine we were tasting, while keeping it lively and making us laugh along the way. Of the 10 wines that I tried, there was only one that I didn't like and a couple that I REALLY enjoyed (did I mention I'm not much of a wine drinker?). After the tasting you have a ticket that gets you a full glass of the wine of your choice. They had live music on the patio and a fudge shop inside (buy a pound and get a free half pound of chocolate or vanilla), plus other goodies and souvenirs. We had a great time and ended up leaving with 3 bottles of wine, 3 pounds of fudge, and a bar of soap! We'll be back on our next visit for sure! read more

Excellent winery, with lots of wine choices ranging from the dry, sparkling, and sweeter blends. Add that to the wonderful staff who are more than willing to answer any questions, and make recommendations based upon those. Please check out the tasting bar. The live music was great as well. This used to be one of my family's favorite places to visit when we would come down here for vacation. However, after the incredibly rude service we received today we will not be returning. We were here a year ago with my niece who is a toddler and it was no problem for her to be near us during the tasting. When we attempted to go today nobody informed us that she could not be anywhere near us during the tasting when we paid for three adults to do the tasting. The bartender was very rude during the entire ordeal. We did not feel welcome and will not be returning. I understand why children can not sit at the bar due to liability but she was not even sitting at the bar, she was simply standing next to us. We felt the bartender could have been polite about the situation instead of continuing to ostracize myself and my step-dad when we were still willing to continue after my mother left with my niece. I had to get up and leave due to how rude she was. I cannot express how disappointed I am in this establishment especially compared to one year ago when we were here last. read more

Such a fun place. My sister and I went one day when it was cloudy and rainy. I don't like sweet wines (my sister does), but I muscled through the tasting. Haha! Seriously, the Duplin rep, Kay, was very knowledgeable and told us some great stories. For $5, you get approximately 12 'pours' and you get to keep the glass. After the tasting if you want a glass of any of their wines, it's $3. We came back the next day to enjoy a glass and enjoy the atmosphere. It was fun. read more

The winery is beautiful and most of the folks are smiling and eager to help. We paid for a tasting waited 45 mins, asked and Kim rudely told us she had yelled 4 times for us . Since we were holding a pager that was to light up and I was in my wheelchair right across from desk I question this. It was the rudeness and attitude that bothered me from someone in the front line customer service position. If you go please ask for Mitzi to assist you. Absolutely the worse wine and customer service ever. I bought a bottle of their Scuppernong Blush, for my friend's anniversary, I am not a drinker so I never tasted it. When my friend opened it, it smelled awful, she said it tasted worse. We brought it back to the winery to ask if it was supposed to taste like this, we encountered a female on the welcome desk who was very rude and nasty. She said you must be from up north and not used to drinking good wine.she was very belligerent. We asked if there was another wine she could exchange it for, she told us in a condescending tone that all there wine was like this ," best wine in tyhe south". So we left feeling like scolded children. We were told to dump it as sometimes you have to do this . I would never recommend this winery or wine to any of my friends or family. Stay away read more

My husband and I have visited Duplin Winery many times and have experienced nothing less than excellent service with a smile. Even on their busiest days, employees have gone out of their way to greet and assist us. If you're searching for a different experience I recommend visiting Duplin. Employees readily share their knowledge of the history of Duplin winemaking; the wine tastings are entertaining and educational; talented musicians perform on the outside terrace during warm months; the winery is beautiful inside and out offering a wonderful gift shop featuring hand made furniture and art pieces; and above all, the staff is awesome! We've visited many wineries and tastings, and for us, Duplin far surpasses any of our past experiences. If you like sweet wines, Duplin is perfect for you; however, if you prefer dry they also offer a dry red and a white. read more
