Never again. First time, I took a pair of jeans in to replace a button that had ripped out. The owner took my order and argued with me about how this or that solution would cost money. Like he was trying to talk me out of paying for his service. They agreed to replace a button for $5 but not repair the adjacent rip. Had the guy just worked with me I would have happily paid $20 to get the whole thing fixed right. The second incident I decided to just use them for something simple like remove a stain from a shirt. When the shirt was returned not only was the stain still there, there were new stains. The woman at the counter saw the stain and got the same man to talk to me about it. He acted like it was invisible lol. Again, he was really unreasonable and refused to fix the problem. His solution was to grab money out of the cash drawer, shove it at me, and tell me to leave. STAY AWAY I don't usually bother to leave reviews but that place is really disappointing. I used DuPont cleaners for sometime and there were multiple things that went wrong. Missing items, wet wash and fold, incomplete dry cleaning, ruined set of sheets. Coming with a mindset that mistakes happen and it's not worth to waste energy over a few missing socks, I continued to use their services until recently. A few weeks ago, I received my wash & fold back. There was piece of clothing that brought my attention as it had huge cuts all over it. Thinking it was quite odd, I started inspecting the rest. There were so many other pieces with the same cuts and holes! I packed all of the damaged clothes and brought them to the DuPont Cleaners. That's were I had the worst customer service experience ever! As I presented my ruined clothes, the owner became very defensive and refused taking any responsibility. He began sweating heavily and blaming me for giving him "old clothes that fall apart". That was just crazy. (My clothes were purchased recently and weren't damaged prior servicing.) After a few minutes of that ridiculous b***t he grabbed my clothes and said they will fix it all. (The cuts were is so many places that I highly doubted it's even possible). They are probably as good as any other place if you need dry cleaning or laundry service for utility-type items, e.g. sheets and towels. But please do not send them any clothing - they are completely unreliable about following instructions regarding wash cycle type and drying temperature. read more

I have a dress with an intricately beaded shoulder that I needed to take in a couple of inches in the shoulder. I didn't think it was that big of a deal. Little did I know that...mo' beads = mo' problems! I was looking for a Dry Cleaner on Wednesday who could get it back to me by Friday because I had a wedding on Saturday. I knew this place was expensive, so I didn't try it first. I first went to a place on 68th street, but she took one look at the beads and said "No way. I can't do it." I then went to the little place on Amsterdam next to the great Chinese Food place...But the seamstress wasn't in and I didn't want to risk not having it in time for the wedding. In the blistering heat, I walked down to TWO place on Columbus avenue. They both said "No. Once you cut the beads, everything will fall apart." At this point, I was going to say "F it" and just wear the dress unaltered. But on the way home, on one of the muggiest days EVER, I wandered into DuPont where the A/C was blasting and I was saved! They brought me a paper towel after asking me if I was okay...("Yes, I am just sweaty"), and said, "Sure, we can get the dress done, no problem!" Ta-Da! Problem solved. I have been using Dupont for more than 20 years and I can't say enough great things about them. They pick my laundry and/or dry cleaning up when needed and return them within a reasonable amount of time and take great care of my items. One time I came home from an international trip and didn't realize I left my passport in the pocket of my jeans that I send for laundering. My doorman surprised me with my passport that was delivered by the Dupont staff before I realized it was missing. When I've asked for a quick turn around on dry cleaning, they are happy to provide. Especially during Covid, I will do anything I can to support this family business and I recommend them highly, if you're on the Upper West Side. These guys get it done. Dry Cleaning seems like it's a commodity these days, but when you actually dig down a bit, you'll realize that Dupont is a step above other cleaners. A) They offer same-day service for no additional charge. Just get your clothes to them by 10am and you've got them back that night. B) They offer free pick-up and delivery to your building (if you live in the area). So basically, I leave a bag of clothes with my doorman in the morning, call Dupont and ask them to pick them up, and by the time I'm back from the office at 8pm I've got everything waiting for me in the lobby again. I dislike expending energy to pass along negativity, but I feel obligated to let the community know about my poor experience with Dupont Cleaners. I have lived in the neighborhood for over ten years and have never experienced a Dry Cleaning business as indifferent and unaccommodating as Dupont Cleaners is. I can tell my story but the bottom line is that the manager / owner that was attempting to do business with me tried to pass off incomplete work and tell me that it was my fault that the job was not done in the allotted time. When all parties agree on timeframe for the completion of a job, and the parameters of that job, it should be understood that anything less than a completed job is unacceptable. I will not be going back, but if you intend to use this establishment you should be aware that their employees are not always aware of the timeframes expected of them nor how to deliver acceptable work within an agreed upon period of time. read more

A decent establishment that is not to be confused with the one at 86th! I saw that there were 2 when I was looking for a good dry cleaner and after seeing the review I steered clear away from it. I got 2 dresses and a blouse dry cleaned and it was done at a reasonable time and quality. Will be going back again for more in the future. read more

During the pickup, the delivery guy said "are you not home in the morning?" "Huh?" I answered, not following why this was an appropriate question for the delivery guy to ask. "ARE YOU NOT HOME IN THE MORNING?" he asked again, losing patience. "Morning's better," he told me. "We're too busy in the afternoon." (Oh gosh, sorry for inconveniencing you by scheduling a pickup during your business hours? I guess?) The next day, delivery.com calls and says there are too many shirts for them to finish on time, and they need to re-schedule the drop-off. They schedule it for the following afternoon. After pretending the doorbell doesn't work, the same delivery guy launches immediately into "I TOLD you not to schedule deliveries for the afternoon, we're too busy. I TOLD you only mornings." I had never actually said to someone, not as a joke, "don't you start with me." But after leaving work early to meet this gentleman because they could not make the original time, and then getting lectured about how inconvenient it was for him, I said to the delivery man, "DON'T YOU START WITH ME." But it was to no avail-- he did not let up lecturing me the entire time, about the doorbell which he inexplicably could not use (he had used it two days before!) and about how he had already TOLD me afternoon deliveries were no good for him. I have been looking for a dry cleaner in the hood, so I decided to check the reviews before selecting Dupont. It was a total disappointment I have left 4 dresses and 3 jackets. None of them had any major stain, I just wanted them to be clean. When I went back to pick them up the next day, the result was a disaster. They did not even bother to clean the black dress, there were still small stains on the cream jacket but worse one was my white dress that had a black stain which was not there when I dropped them off. The guy tried to argue me to pay for all. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? The other ones were relatively better but seemed like they were just ironed. And I had to deal with the guy, who was trying to convince me that the stains were not there initially and they would not come off... Dear Sir, probably you are not the smartest and you should realize that your customers might have been to other dry leaners, who can take off those stains! Such an horrible experience.. And I had to pay all that money for my steam ironed other dresses.. Never going back again! read more

DO NOT USE THIS DRY CLEANER. They have ruined multiple articles of clothing of mine and take zero responsibility for it. First off, I often find buttons on my shirt cracked or broken. Secondly, they ruined a pair of expensive trousers that I brought them. When I asked them about it, the owner immediately got defensive and started raising his voice, saying that it was not their fault. I am 100% sure it was. I have used about 6 or 7 dry cleaners in the time I have lived here in NYC, and this one was by far the most expensive. I understand that pricing may be a bit higher on the Upper West Side as opposed to the East Village or Murray Hill, but there is no excuse for the lack of quality and rude management. read more

This is a place to avoid. I have been using this place for over a decade. I actually followed them both when they moved and also when I moved uptown. However, that has all changed. Yesterday, I needed to pick up my dry cleaning. Unfortunately, I lost my claim ticket. When I told the clerk, he, (who wasn't particularly friendly beforehand) got hostile. Usually, in such instances, he'd ask a couple of questions to ID me however it took some prodding to get him to do so. After that, when I gave him some new shirts, he initially refused to give me a claim ticket stating, "Since you don't use them, I will not give you one." It took three requests, each one more emphatic before he grudgingly relented. Finally, he warned me as I left, next time, no ticket, no clothes. When I complained to the manager, he was completely disinterested in what happened. Let them tend to their own business for they certainly shall have none of mine! read more

Wont' use them again... they just ruined pants to my suit by shrinking them to the extent that they are unwearable. And then they blamed me and spoke to me in a very condescending way - saying I must have gotten them wet, which of course I did not. I am 100% sure it was their fault. I've used them to launder shirts and the experience I've had is below average at best. They're relatively inexpensive and, more often than not, they'll do same day service. But, the machines/process they use to press shirts seems to ruin buttons far more often than any other cleaner I've used. And, I would definitely not recommend their tailor based on the work she's done for me. She doesn't seem to realize that the back of a hem on men's dress pants needs to be a bit longer than the front to create the right look. You end up with is a pair of pants that are the perfect length in the front with a nice, subtle break as they rest on your shoe. But, the back of your ankle is uncovered. read more

Completely dishonest ..... Asked for an alteration to a suit jacket and the work completed was not at all what was asked for. Caught one of the workers lying on the phone when he admitted that they didn't follow my original request to the owner. Kept the same great level of service as I increased the volume and I've been continuing since. They've been very accommodating when I request delivery service, I mostly go to pick up my stuff in person because it's nice to talk to the people there. I am a TEN-YEAR customer, and yesterday when I showed up to claim clothes without a ticket was treated extremely rudely and confrontationally by the counter employee. The employee refused to give a claim check for new clothing being dropped off. When I later called the manager he offered absolutely no apology but instead defended the employee. Fine. The MOST horrible place. Terrible customer service and I was treated extremely rudely by the owner who told me that "I had to pay again." During the past month I've had 5 new dresses hemmed and every one was hemmed too short. I returned to Dupont in hopes of salvaging my new purchases and the guy (in the picture) told me I had to pay AGAIN to have the hems of each dress lengthened. He proceeded to argue that all is his customers are "happy." Rudeness became ignorance. Dupont Cleaners are by far the best in the neighborhood and they have such reasonable prices too. Their dry cleaning is thorough and I've never had something that was stained come back without the stain being completely gone. They are also king at repairs. I brought in what I thought was a wrecked vintage skirt today that had a huge tear in it and I got in back a few hours later, looking almost brand new. I cannot recommend them more. read more

I used Dupont cleaners for about a year since moving nearby. For dry cleaning services they are adequate though have ripped a shirt or two over the past year. I principally used them for wash and fold services. Minor issues include losing socks (I'm actually shocked after this year to see how few matched socks I have left) and occasionally not returning items on same day as they advertise. The major issue I had with them and the reason why I left to go to an alternative cleaner was that they washed and dried a bag of laundry that I explicitly and very clearly tagged as non-dry. This included my expensive work clothing and many delicates as well as work-out stretch clothes. All my clothes were shrunk or ruined. I called to speak with the manager and he wasn't there. He called back the next day to say they could "reverse" some of the damage but obviously this wasn't possible. They never offered to reimburse me or make any other changes. As you can see I very seldom write negative reviews on Yelp but felt it important to share this. read more
