They record everything from textbooks to pop fiction. It's a good activity for people who want a relaxed volunteer experience. There are sessions available during the day and evenings on weekdays and Saturday mornings. You start volunteering as a "director" recording audio and can later audition to be a "reader," where you sit in a booth and read books out loud. There are some other activities such as "checking" (listening to audio for errors) that I haven't gotten to yet. I personally prefer a more social volunteer experience, but this is a fun one! (:

From the very first Photo 1 class, Andrew positioned the material in ways I'd never heard or read before. All of the curriculum has been shaped to gradually level up a student's potential. By the 24th class, I was bursting with excitement about what I now knew how to do. I can now go out and talk with long-time professional photographers and contribute to the conversation. I've been encouraging Andrew to start publishing articles and a book. Until then, photography enthusiasts in Austin are super fortunate that ASOP is available for all of us.

Is it it Light? How much distance is involved?" At first everything is very stright forward, learning the mechanics of the computer in your hands. Because, let's face it, it's a computer. Unless you're that one person in class rocking an old school film camera, which is amazing - please be that person and make the rest of us jelly. He gives homework, well thought out and explained. He sends follow up emails after every class explaining the homework assignements again. And he loves for people to print out their photos so we can all discuss our photos and learn form one another. Also, he seems to know every camera so very well. He can figure out opperating systems super fast. I've had my camera for over a year and still get frustrated trying to find somthing. Hence the reson I stick as much stuff on my Favorites tab as possible. Not Andrew though, he can find anything on anyone's camera in under 30 seconds it seems. Trust me, once you see how many cameras he must work with each and every day, this is impressive. I've only taken level one class, but already paid for level two. Before too long I plan on taking all of his classes. He really challenges me to get outside of my comfort zone, understand my equipment better, and really wants me to succeed. If it weren't for Andrew's classes I would be stuck taking only classes at ACC that do not fit into my schedule. I'm so glad Andrew started this School. I recently did a 'tour' of demo classes for weekend activities I could do with my 18-month-old…read more After doing demo classes at 3 different activities, Tutu School was the clear winner for our weekend fun. What I really loved about the class is that the activities changed quickly, used lots of props, and were mostly active - all great qualities for this age group, especially my little one who seems extra wiggly. I've been to other classes/activities where the kids were expected to be seated for more than half the time which doesn't feel age-appropriate. We did stretches, ballet moves, and dances - all in fun, approachable ways. For example, rather than telling the kids to lift their legs with pointed toes repeatedly, the instructor blew a bunch of bubbles into the room and encouraged the kiddos to try to pop them with their toes. My little one mostly tried to capture them in her hand but there was lots of movement and silliness so I didn't feel like her normal toddler behavior would be viewed as 'bad behavior.' Overall, we had a ton of fun and my kiddo smiled often. I also appreciate that certain shoes or attire aren't required. They just need to wear something comfortable and be barefooted (if not in ballet shoes.) Keep in mind, for this age group (1.5 - 3 years) an adult needs to participate. It wasn't hard. In fact, it was enjoyable to just run and jump and spin with my kiddo. But, if you have some injuries or are differently abled, it might be worth talking with an instructor ahead of time to see how you might best participate. I'm also SO SO appreciative that they offer classes not just on Saturdays but also on Sundays. So many kids activities are limited to the week and it's tough for us parents who work the standard 9-5 with kiddos in daycare. Even the ones that have weekend hours, many are closed on Sundays. Logistically speaking: parking was easy, the space was clean, and there was a changing table and sink stool in the bathroom. So excited to attend again!
