we tried the bagels and local seafood place. at the bagel store we got the chicken katsu which to me personally it was too much on the sweet side. the bagel itself was a good one but it got too mushy with the sauce from the chicken katsu. at the local seafood place we got the combo choose 3 (fried shrimp, fried oysters, and grilled fish). highly highly recommend!! the grill fish was so tender and flavorful. the two fried items were fried very well but just a little bit salty. would come back again to try the other places! also on saturdays there is the farmers market right outside. read more

This place is awesome. They're so many different options it was honestly hard to pick just one. There were at least 4 individual bathrooms that were clean. There was pac man and donkey Kong arcade games. The space has a free water machine with cups. It looks like they have room for more food shops. The space is beautiful, love the setup and what they've done design wise. Cons: Half of the vendors were closed or sold out by 7 PM despite saying on their website they would be open until 8 or 9 so I only got to try one of the 3 spots I wanted to try. There were no forks, knives or water cups. I guess good luck if you have to cut anything? I stole a pint glass from the bar for water when the bartender wasn't looking. The place was packed and already noisy on a weekend night as expected and yet they decided that it would be a good night to do trivia as well? I'm sure 90% of people there were not playing and you could barely hear the questions over the other noise anyways. Just made for a super uncomfortable experience with an inaudible loudspeaker adding on to the other noise in the space. Leave events like that for weekday nights when it isn't as crowded. They have coffee, bagels, Mexican, Italian, Asian, Ramen, Southern, Seafood and Sushi...literally something for everyone. My cousin got the 3 cheese ravioli from Marco's which was toasted with marinara sauce (very good) and I got the special from Neapolitan Pizzeria which was Potato Au Gratin Pizza which I also thought was very good but could see how it could be a little overpowering if you're not a fan of garlic or gruyere. I absolutely adore this little food hall. I appreciate providing a space for local restaurants to spread their wings with the locals. We went on a Monday afternoon and there was plenty of space to eat, not sure how busy this place gets on the weekends but it might be difficult to find seating at that time. I ended up grabbing a bagel from everything bagel and while waiting stopped over at milk Lab for some boba tea and put an order in at liturgy for some coffee. Everything was so centralized you could scoot around to each one and put your order in, wait at your table for your food to be ready and then have everything all at once. Not like other food halls that are long and sprawling you have to kind of pick one place order there and then eat. That made this place really fun. Highly recommend giving this place a shot, has great food selection everything you need in one place. Also, very cute atmosphere. read more

Cute spot in Durham to grab a meal. I had the pastrami sandwich from Old North Meats with a side of potato salad. Sandwich was 10/10 and I'd recommend it to everyone. The potato salad was noticeably bad which felt so sad because of how good the sandwich was. The food hall was pretty empty so it only took about 5 minutes to make my sandwich. The food hall was a great place to meet up with others. Lots of big tables & small tables. There were 10 other food stalls all of varying cuisines. Very accessible. Pay for parking depending on the time of day. I didn't see any pride flags but that doesn't mean they are not LBGTQ friendly. read more

Great fun space with plenty of seating available and a fun layout that took advantage of the available space. Not the biggest food hall but definitely a great selection of options with varying cuisines. Ended up getting pizza from Napoli which was really good, and staff was very friendly. Only thing that surprised me though was I went on a Monday at 7:00 before a show at DPAC, which I understand is not the busiest time, it was a bit empty inside and majority of the options inside were closed (I think only three things were open). Will likely return once I figure out the hours so I can try out more, and I definitely recommend as I can definitely see it being a great space to hang out in groups or even just chill on your own and get some casual work done. read more

"Excellent food, fun seating, 'for a price', by Durham Farmer's Market" Came here for lunch on a Friday. The space is interesting-- looks inside like a converted factory. The seating area is very open and airy with a very high ceiling (and a closed stairwell in the middle). Around it are lots of small open-air dining options: a sandwich place, a Mexican spot, a bagel spot, an Italian/ Asian noodle spot, a seafood market/ restaurant, etc. Think of it like an ultra-bourgie food court, with most items made from local ingredients. There is also a water dispenser and cups off to the side for use by all, and you can even order takeout from your table via QR codes set up there. I confess the prices took me a bit by surprise. Chips and salsa (enough for 1-2 people) for about $6, for example. I got the $12 vegetarian sesame noodle bowl from the noodle spot (Marco's 530). It was quite good-- a little sweeter than I would have guessed, but the flavor was nice and the mushrooms were delightful. Folks with me got the burrito bowl or a bagel. Everyone liked their food-- the quality was high. I confess I was a little bit surprised by the ratio of price to quantity. I was still hungry after eating my $12 (before tax/ tip) noodle bowl and ended up buying chips and salsa. I also might be nervous going here at a busy time-- it wasn't too crowded when we went, but I have heard it gets very crowded at peak times, and they do openly say "first come first served" for dine-in on the website. But again, high quality, and nice space. Would I go here again? I think yes if wanting to show off to an out-of-towner that Durham as a "fun" place to be. I will say that I doubt I'd just bring my family here for a random lunch-- there are many less-expensive places around with nearly comparable quality and/ or larger quantities of food. But maybe for a nicer outing with friends who might have diverse tastes. And nice that much of the food is local. read more

Man oh man, this is probably one of the coolest food halls in the area. Granted, there aren't that many, but the only other one that's as nice as this one is Transfer Food co. in Raleigh. Since I've been coming, I've mainly stuck to the coffee shop, burrito bodega, and plant shop. But I definitely can't wait to try some of the other delicious eateries inside! Once the pandemic is over, I think the indoor dining available will be super poppin. In the meantime, they do great and easy takeout. Felt safe the few times I ordered here during the pandemic. They're doing no-indoor seating (a few small tables outside) with one way entries/walkways/exits and online ordering. I've mainly ordered from Everything bagels - their build your own breakfast sandwich is my favorite. I love their unique cream cheese flavors. The chai lattes and coffee drinks at Liturgy are also great. There's a cute apothecary and flower shop with nice plants and flowers and other great gift options. However, what is up with the food hall itself?! Every time I've come, there are uncleaned tables, the trash bins are overflowing, there are stacks of dirty dishes and glasses at the trash stations, and the single water/ice machine serves tepid water at a turtles pace. Durham Food Hall is a great addition to this part of Durham. It's a great place to take out-of-town visitors and let folks choose something that works with their palate and preference. The indoor decor is industrial and open concept. I do wish there were 1-2 more vendors at any given time, as I almost never make it out here in the mornings, so still have not tried a bagel! I've been here a few times for dinner and do enjoy-- the place with the crunch wraps, Napoli for personal sized pizza, and the seafood place where they are very knowledgeable about where they source their fish, crustaceans, etc. Everyone I've encountered so far has been helpful and kind. Durhamites have been waiting for this place for a loooong time. Too bad for them they had to open during a pandemic but so far the mix of vendors offering takeout orders has been very good. We've had bagels, uplifted Southern Cuisine, coffee, burritos, and an herbal tea drink. They enforce social distancing but it's very easy to order online, pick up, and then either take food home or eat in the nearby Durham Central Park. Once the pandemic ends, this will be a hoppin' spot for Downtown Durham. read more

My friend ordered chicken saag from Mango Indian Grill. It was spicy and above expectations. Serving size was very generous. Everyone was really nice. Exceptionally nice considering that it felt like 110 degrees outside. I will definitely eat there again. Want to try the pizza and seafood, but also pastries and coffee at breakfast. Came in here and was really impressed with the safety measures they are taking for COVID. The decor definitely gets you in the holiday spirit and ordering is simple. You can scan a QR code and it lists all the vendors and their menus and you can order that way. They have arrows directing you through the food hall. The interior is so pretty and gives off a very fancy vibe. I love it! There is even a tiny shop inside and it's adorable. I can't wait for it to fully open once covid ends. read more
