So I've been to Yuma several times and have been disappointed many times on of the Mexican Food. But I will say this place from the get-go is a hidden gem. The server was extremely hospitable play even sparked up a conversation I ended ordering Birria And I will see the meat was tender tasteful beans didn't have a lot of flavor but the two tacos I got with him for flavor in lots of condiments. Recommended from hotel staff, wasn't wrong, food is great, host is great. Prices, hmm, a bit high IMO, chili verde omelet with small amount of beans and rice was over $19. Omelet was pretty good but I'm thinking only 2 eggs for almost $20 bucks prices me out. Sounds like they have good specials during the week for dinner which I would try. read more

Visiting from San Diego and stopped in for breakfast. The chilaquiles are fantastic! The hot salsa is amazing, nice heat with outstanding flavor. Loved the beans as well. They have great carnitas (order them by the pound, and ask for mixed buche and cueritos, which, I'm afraid, isn't always available. You wonder why, right? I would like to know myself). Hubby is ALWAYS ordering the "Generale" quesadilla that is overflowing with carne asada, grilled onions on the outside, melted cheese, beans. He pays an extra .99 to make it a mix of carne asada and trips. Highly recommended! Place gets super busy on any given day because families do come here to celebrate events such as birthdays. One day, they got my order mixed up with someone else. So the lesson is--check your bag before leaving the premises. It now has a covered patio. Perfect during much cooler nights. The Mi Hefita's enchiladas are the best!!! Great service. We love the quaint setting, makes you feel like you are eating with family.

So I just updated their page to have the tag breakfast and brunch. What a fun and delicious place for breakfast 7 days a week. They have mimosas and chevelas and a fantastic breakfast menu. The el patron is like the chilaquiles breakfast but with a fantastic skirt steak fir a few bucks more. It comes with beans, potatoes, and tortillas. The chilaquiles are fantastic. My only way to improve this breakfast would be better potatoes. They have a standard issue one from a food vendor. I get it; potatoes take a lot of work and no one comes in for sides. read more

Well, holy hell!!! The birria bowl was freaking outstanding. My wife had the carnitas dinner...deeelish!! I had the chile relleno and my jefitas enchiladas con pollo...hawt dang!!! We had to make a stop a Duron's El Zarape Grill after subscribers sent in rave reviews about this local favorite just a few minutes off Interstate 8 in Yuma, Arizona. We recently had the pleasure of experiencing this wonderful family eatery on our way to Tombstone, Arizona and we were not disappointed! Opened in 2012, Duron's El Zarape Grill is a true family establishment. One thing that's guaranteed when you eat here is that only the freshest ingredients are used, as we experienced in everything we tried. You can tell that the staff here takes great pride in their large portions made with the freshest vegetables and meats as well as the tortillas which are delivered daily. I literally had the best beans that I have ever eaten and that is no small feat as I have traveled the country sampling outstanding cuisine. If a tender steak is what you crave, then look no further as the El Zarape Grill only serves Certified Angus Beef. As we sat down, we ordered Mexican beers to get us in a south-of-the-border mood and to meet the family, as they all work there. This gave me an opportunity to pick their brains a bit and get their suggestions as to what we should try. First up, we ordered The General, our readers' favorite appetizer. The General is large and in charge; you could easily feed two with it. This generous 14" steak quesadilla is combined with beans, jack and cheddar cheese, roasted green chile strips, and topped with seasoned grilled onions. It's served with sides of guacamole and salsa fresca. Wow, now I know what everyone has been talking about! The combination of grilled onions and melted cheese was the perfect accent to the Certified Angus Beef. What a delight! Next up was our first entrée, the El Zarape Combo, which we decided to share as there were three of us and we knew it would be some time before we would have the pleasure of stopping by again. The Combo consists of a cheese enchilada, a bean tostada and a taco dorado. If you have been following my reviews very long, then you know how I feel about cheese enchiladas... they are my favorite. The cheese enchilada at the El Zarape Grill was right up there. Both the bean tostado and taco dorado had a really nice flavor and I highly recommend them. Of course, we had to try the famous Arrachera Sonorense, a 10 oz Certified Angus Beef skirt steak served with grilled onions, Frijolitos Charros and a cheese-stuffed chile verde. The steak was cooked to perfection with that wonderful flavor only found in Certified Angus Beef. If a steak is what your belly is calling for after a long drive, then this is the way to go. Along with the steak, we ordered Frijolitos Charros, a delicious medley of beans cooked with bacon, chorizo and jalapeños. These were, bar none, the best beans I have ever tasted. Let me repeat myself, these were the best charro beans I have ever tasted. Keep in mind that I am from Texas. The homemade chorizo, bacon and jalapenos gave this dish that spicy and salty Mexican flavor. I'll be talking about the wonderful beans I enjoyed in Yuma for years to come. When in Rome, right? We had to try the Cielo, Mar y Tierra Sizzling Combo Fajitas: a delightful combination of chicken, shrimp, and Certified Angus Beef Steak, grilled onions, and bell peppers served on a sizzling skillet with your choice of beans or Spanish rice. The fajitas were exactly what we expected at this point. As with everything else we'd had, the beef was again top of the road, the fresh shrimp was amazing and the tortillas to die for ... my mouth is watering as I write. We enjoyed a Chocolate Delight with a dab of whipped cream for dessert. It tasted absolutely divine. Wow, the experience here at Duron's El Zarape Grill was delightful to say the least. When traveling through this area it is a must that you stop by, say hello and get yourself some of their Mexican flavor. We enjoyed wonderful conversation with the family and then hit the road. Absolutely wonderful! Very friendly service, casual nice atmosphere and delicious food. I had the Camarones Al Mojo de Ajo and my boyfriend had the Chile Verde. It was the best Mexican I've had in years (and I love eating Mexican food a lot). The salsa and chips were good. The dreaded drive through Yuma just got waaaayyy better! Decided to Yelp a place for dinner and here was Duron's with 5 stars based on 6 reviews. I was intrigued but suspicious based on the on the over the top yelps. It was a cute colorful and tacky joint with booths and tables set up in two rooms. The chips were authentic like in Mexico (thick and oily). The salsa was a big bust- not much flavor. They had a nice selection of hot sauces at each table so adding habanero sauce helped but should have been unnecessary. It needed some peppers in it, or cilantro, or salt, or all of the above. This is why it lost a star. The food was stellar. Beau had "The General" a carne asada quesadilla with grilled onions and crazy good guac. I had a combo plate of chille relleno, fish taco and an enchilada. All were really tasty. And most importantly, each item stood out on it's own, not smothered in a common sauce. The refried beans were exceptional and it made you want more. Another patron in the busy place stated he was there because of the yelp review. Winner, winner! read more

This restaurant was ridiculously slow!!! We waited 2 hours for fajitas! Then it took another 10 minutes for tortillas. They charged for more chips and salsa. Plus, it wasn't busy at all!! The Margarita tasted like lemonade which they charged $12 for 12oz. Completely outrageous! The only good thing I can say is the waitress was nice. I would never recommend eating here! For 2 meals and 2 drinks, it cost over $60. I asked to speak to the manager and they would not come over to speak with me. Very poor service and so disappointed. read more

Was in A TACO MOOD and saw online that it's Taco Tuesday (2 for 1), until 3 pm. Admittedly, with so many options for Mexican food in Yuma, I'd not eaten here in my 18 years of living here. After today's lunch, I WILL DEFINITELY be back and will be bringing friends! Carne Asada tacos and the fish tacos were ON PONT! (Not to mention the chips and salsa). When the tscos arrived, the server asked if I'd also like some HOTTER salsa...(ABSOLUTELY!) That combined with some regular, was a nice KICK, for the tacos! *Also saw on Mondays they bless a number of folks, by offering discounts, as this post (copied from their Facebook page) notes: "We Honor You! Law Enforcement Pastors - Teachers Military Active & Retired and Senior Citizens. Come Get Your Discount 25% All Day Every Monday!" I wish I could give this establishment zero stars as I was so horribly mistreated that I'll actually be making a complaint to the Better Business Bureau as well. I had heard very positive things regarding this restaurant so my wife and I decided to try it. She ordered a cheeseburger and fries and I ordered a chicken chimichanga. When our food arrived it appeared that my chimichanga was made with dark meat chicken which I am, highly, allergic to. I realized my error in not clarifying what type of chicken they used and flagged down our waitress. I, very politely, explained that had happened, offered to still pay for my chimichanga even though I could not eat it, and ordered two cheese enchiladas instead. The waitress takes my plate and goes to the kitchen with it. She then comes back and tells me the chef is 100% sure that said chimichanga is made with white meat. I tell her that upon inspection by me I'm not feeling very comfortable with taking the risk and so, again, I tell her I'll pay for the dish but I would like two cheese enchiladas. She returns to the kitchen and the manager then comes to our table and, very abruptly, asks me what is wrong. She says that I ordered a chicken chimichanga and that's whaf I received. So, I once again, state that I have an allergy to dark meat poultry and that I'm not comfortable that the dish is made with just white meat and that, again, I'll pay for the questionable dish but that I would like 2 cheese enchiladas. By this time the entire restaurant is staring at me. She returns to the kitchen. Next thing I know the chef himself is marching out of the kitchen. He approaches our table carrying a to-go box whch held the dish I couldn't even eat and, angrily, sets it on my table. He then, arrogantly, states that he boxed my meal up so I can take it home to eat because there is nothing wrong with it. I then politely, for the fourth time, try to explain the situation as he continued to talk over me; berating me regarding my food allergy. He flat out told me that if a restaurant has chicken on the menu it is ALWAYS white meat unless it says otherwise and that sometimes it's not white OR dark meat it's just chicken. I then tried to, again, explain how severe my allergy is and stated that I would need an epi-pen if I were to ingest the wrong kind of meat. He didn't care and continued to, very loudly, basically tell me how much of an idiot I am and explain to me how chicken dishes are prepared. He finally finished ranting at me and stomped away. My wife lost her appetite and I struggled to eat my enchiladas thru the sting of tears caused by my abject humiliation with the whole restaurant staring at me and talking about me. We did not finish our meals and, instead, asked for our bill. They did take off the chicken dish despite the fact that I had repeated several times I'd pay for it, however we just paid it and lefto. We did tip our waitress in cash though as none of this was her fault, I will NEVER be returning there again (Oh, and I left the to-go container on the table). read more

This place goes above and beyond! My family needed a last minute meal on Thanksgiving because my grandfather ate before we got to the retirement home to visit, and we aren't cooking until tomorrow. We have eaten here before and found it pretty good until 2 weeks ago, 14 of us made reservations and things went down from there. First we ordered drinks and asked the server to put that round on my bill, second one meal was never served and showed up in a doggie bag to go, another meal had the plastic twist tie from a loaf of bread baked into her meal, my wife asked for a salad and instead got a bowl with 6 sliced cucumbers in it. when the bills finally showed up everyone was charged for the drink I paid for. they double billed us for those drinks, and last, the best, We didn't realize they had added in a tip on each slip until I double tipped the server and was told they already rang in the paymt. too bad. we will never go there again read more

Food came at a reasonable pace and waitress was pleasant. Wanted to try the fish taco (recommend) and the chili rellano. She suggested the combo that also came with an enchilada. The chicken enchilada was pretty good since has never been my choice. The rellano was pleasant would of like a little crispier. Coupla flies for company with dinner not to much of a bother though. $17.00 after tax and a 2 buck tip. Dinner for less the twenty seems fair in a post Covid world. read more
