Today was the first time trying Duron's El Zarape Grill. My girlfriend and step daughter told me about this place. I haven't been living long in the City of Yuma, Arizona; about a year to be exact, and I thought I had been to mostly all of the best tasting and best reviewed Yelp! Mexican restaurants but I was wrong. For what ever reason, I was not aware about Duron's El Zarape and let me tell you, I was not disappointed one bit in coming here. The establishment is not that big, they maybe fit a good 50 people, but they do have an ample seating arrangement. The staff is definitely on top of their game because as soon as you get there, once you are seated they immediately bring you some delicious chips and salsa. I loved the flavor of the salsa by the way! The salsa was not too spicy and packed with delicious flavor! The staff will then bring you their menu, and they have quite a big selection of dishes to choose from. I opted for a good old fashioned carne asada burrito, and my girlfriend and step daughter got their fish tacos. I meant to take pictures folks, but sorry, I got side tracked with the big burrito I got served and devoured it before realizing that I wanted to take picture of the meal. Don't worry though, I will be going back again, and I promise to take pictures this time! The food was excellent! It tasted fresh, the carne asada beef was just seasoned right and unlike many places around town, they used good quality beef in their burritos too! From the opinion of my girlfriend and stepdaughter the fish tacos were also fresh and great tasting as well. Needless to say, this place is a keeper! I will definitely be returning to try other dishes out, although I really loved their burritos though! This place is great!!! Staff was friendly and gracious. Food was awesome. I had the white menudo excellent. I also had the carne seca great dish. My son had the birria and he said it was great! The chilaquiles were not good and the potatoes were kind of dry and hard. However, the staff were very friendly and welcoming.

It's ok... The service was ok. Our server asked us twice about the sides and still gave us the wrong stuff. It's all good though. The 2 stars is for the food. The food was ok. It wasn't OHHH this stuff is so good, it melts in my mouth. I've been to Mexico a handful of times and ate at other spots just like this in other cities so I guess I can say I know my stuff LOL I ordered the El Patron. The beans are good. That was authentic. The frito looking thing with enchilada sauce was good. It's better if you eat it here because it's fresh. Bringing it home in a to go box will make it soggy and it won't be as good. I asked for medium well for my steak and got well. Flavor was ok. I should've brought my Flavor God seasoning to make it taste better LOL My husband got the everyone's favorite and he wasn't too impressed. It was ok, but hey different stoked for different folks. You will have to try for yourself. My son got the torta and he said about it was that it was good. If it was bomb, he would've talked about how good it was. We were passing through town and wanted something Mexican. It was a few minutes off the freeway. Clean bathrooms! Thank you!! We had a burrito and a couple quesadillas. My daughter is the pickiest eater and loved the food! This is some of the best I've had in this type of cuisine. Yum. The people who worked here were really friendly. I loved that the waitress offered a spicier salsa--I thought the original was pretty spicy. Really good salsa. The decor is very casual. The wall accents are great to look at. Went today for lunch. My husband had chili verde and I had the chili relleno burrito. I don't usually care for chili verde but this was very good and he loved it. The meat was tender and you could tell it was cooked in the sauce. Homemade tortillas to sop it up! My burrito was also very good. Real food and we will definitely be going back. The food's not bad, but nothing spectacular. I really wanted it to be good because I love supporting little local places. First, it took 25 minutes to get water, chips and salsa. The salsa was really good. The chips were thick and tough. I got the great chimi with verde sauce and my husband got the chicken fajitas. The chimi was slimy by the time I got it. The verde sauce was straight out of the can. The machaca had no flavor, no chilies, just crock pot beef. The beans had no flavor, the rice was dry and flavorless. Everything needed salt! I was so disappointed. My husband's chicken fajitas was more burned onions than chicken. Slight char is good, caramelization is good, burned is bitter. Again, everything needed salt. It took about 25 more minutes to get our food. It was the dinner rush, but that's a long time when you're hungry. I normally am not really picky about atmosphere if the food is good, but I have to say it was really loud with several children running around and a toddler screaming that it took dad about 8 minutes to go outside. If you're not into loud, family atmosphere this place isn't for you. It's definitely not a couples dinner place. read more

One of the better Mexican restaurants in Yuma. Nice and cozy inside. Decent food. The chef is from Michoacan which is a refreshing change of pace from many chefs being from Sonora or Baja. I love their menudo. It was loaded with tripe and full of flavor. I could barely finish my bowl. Their burros are good, as well as other dishes. I would not necessarily recommend their seafood though. The campechana was worth forgetting. Stick to beef, chicken, and pork dishes and you will thoroughly enjoy this experience. read more

Expensive low quality food.I am not sure what happened with this almost 5 star reviews , but the reviews here do not seen to be true. This place is not clean , bathrooms are so dirty and stinky ,the food is very low quality , meat was cold and tough ,it takes too long to get the food ,the staff doesn't know anything about the menu or the price , the food comes missing items, they over charged me $4, after correcting the price they over charged me again for $1. The waitress kept apologizing but it sounded away too fake. I think they write their own reviews or they give people something in exchange for the good reviews about them. Terrible experience! Did not get to try the food. Service was so bad. Sat down during lunch hour on a Friday, waited for about 10 mins for a drink order, and another 10 mins for a food order. Food itself took 45 mins. All along snow birds came in, sat next to us, and was served food while we were still waiting. NOTE: this happened twice! New to town and heard several good things about Duron's. All were true! The service is truly the best of any restaurant I have visited. The food was incredible. There was an extensive menu...I ordered fajitas, a chile relleno and sope... I was disappointed in the food I received...the flavor was just meh...the sauce on the relleno tasted like Italian marinara, and the fajitas tasted like Asian stir-fry... I was pleasantly surprised at the variety of veggies in the fajitas - fresh carrots, celery, tomatoes, mushrooms, onions and green peppers.... I guess I'd been expecting the sope to be like fry bread...it was very different - rubbery and difficult to chew... The waiter seemed unenthusiastic about my presence, tho he did accommodate my request for beans only on the sope, and he did ask his manager if the yelp coupon would be honored (it was).... Excellent place to eat. Food is wonderful. Truly authentic and homemade. Service was great. Have been twice in last week with first group of 9 then with group of 12. They never missed a step. The only reason I gave this place a chance was because the restaurant was full. I was thinking maybe they have really good food!... I tried the chilles rellenos w/ rice and beans and that was eh okay. My mom got the huevos rancheros and they were good,but mind you the food was cold but we waited a good 25min and didn't want to ask to heat it up we were too hungry to care. The service was not that great the girl didn't even check up on us once since we got the food. The live music was really loud for that small place but they were playing good jams I couldn't complain.
