Review of Aston Black Enterprises February/March 2020…read more We initially met Mark Black (Owner) at the 2018 Philadelphia Home Show. We were planning a media room and basically interviewed potential contractors. To this day, I am sorry we did not choose Aston Black for that project. When we decided to move forward with our kitchen renovation, we were able to hone down our final choices to Mr. Black and Gardner/Fox. We had both out to the house for an initial consult. What stood out from the very beginning was the attention to detail and the fact that Aston Black was willing to take preliminary measurements for a rough blueprint without a contract or design fee. It took a few weeks, but we finally met with Mark Black at his showroom in Lancaster, PA. That meeting lasted three hours and included the initial design of our dream kitchen on his large screen computer as he had all the 'before' pictures ready for discussion. We were impressed from that point on with his gift for innovation and design. Since we had already selected the counter tops, and had a fairly good idea of the layout, we decided to accept his draft proposal for the Scope of Work with minimal correction. From day one, his crew were professional and exceptional to the end of the project. They were under the supervision of a Construction Manager and an extremely talented crew of two men. They arrived early every day, some weeks on Saturday and stayed well past five o'clock on other days. The Construction Manager as well as Mark Black were immediately available by text, phone or email. Mark Black stopped in several times and stayed in touch almost daily. The workmanship was superior. Mark Black referred us to Keystone Granite where we were extremely satisfied in their install of our Cambria Granite counter tops. In addition, we were referred to The Tile Shop where Joe the Manager was equally as accommodating. We have had many contractors complete several projects in the twenty-two years we've been in this house but none to this degree of professionalism, artisanship and quality. Mr. Black's design ideas and attention to detail gave us a kitchen that far exceeded our expectations. In addition to the kitchen renovation, we also engaged Aston Black in the renovation of our Family Room which included new brickface, complete ceiling repair, install of a new gas insert fireplace and new mantle. Mark Black successfully referred us to Lanchester Grill and Hearth in Gap, PA. where Sam and his staff were absolutely wonderful in their sale and installation of our new gas fireplace insert. I live in a very well to do neighborhood and unfortunately, these guys will look up house values and charge accordingly so while some neighborhoods will get $10k decks, not mine. If I was living in DC suburbs then they'd charge us $50k for the deck. I got the PVC Aztek material with metal posts. The guys did the job in 2 days. I was worried when I saw scuffs on my new deck the day after install, but Luke came to buff them out. With Aztek, you have to be very careful about scratching the deck with furniture so I've yet to put anything on my deck! We rarely eat out there anyways. We're not outdoorsy people.

The Olde Mill House Shoppes is two different buildings - the old stone house and an old barn - that have a wide selection of stuff that women love to shop like rugs, furniture, lighting, home decor, kitchen gadgets, pantry items, women's clothing and accessories. They also have a floral department that I think makes wreaths. My favorite part of the shoppes was the old stone house. Aside from admiring the lovely architecture I enjoyed looked at kitchen gadgets, kitchen decor, pantry items like bread mixes and such. I loved the creek of the floors too. It was a very charming experience. A lot of the furniture was definitely in the Shaker and colonial styles. The lighting section was amazing. Lots of early American inspired design lighting. I wasn't in the market for lighting so I moved on to other things. The rug section was fun to peruse. I saw they sold one of my favorite brands - Dash and Albert. They also had a lot of braided rugs. Regarding the clothing section in the refurbished barn, it wasn't really my style but it seemed like there were some regular customer in there having an absolute ball shopping for some new outfits. It kind of reminded me of the fun, comfy and colorful styles you might find at Chico's. Aside from the above, there was plenty more to look at like some linens, wall art, candles, etc. Overall, this was a fun place to explore and a great place to stop in while in Lancaster County.

I called Joe at Andes Stone Services because he did an excellent brick repair on the front corner of my house previously. He did a great job on the cinder block repair. It looks like new. He asked if I had any other little jobs he could help with so I thought of my patio stairs. The foundation under my patio stairs was falling away with time so Joe put new foundation under the patio blocks and made them even across. They look like new now. They would have become a hazard with uneven blocks on the stairs, but Joe fixed them and now they look like new! He did 2 great jobs today that makes my home look better and safer. Thanks again Joe! Called them for Chimney and Fire place inspection and to service gas logs…read more Received inspection report with photos of Chimney stack they are proposing repair work but no photos of interior inspection of chimney. And, more importantly, very little information concerning chimney condition and integrity of interior lining. Received proposal to Replace chimney Crown, Flashing, power wash and seal bricks. Estimated at a little over $4,000. The Technician that came to my home was polite and professional. I did watch as they worked -- cleaning fireplace, did not see them inspect interior of Chimney. Technician also showed me random photos from internet of Chimney stack (above roof) tops to explain issues with "crown" but did not show me pictures of my chimney. Then he went to truck and returned with tablet (ipad?) to have me sign and pay inspection bill. Said I would receive inspection report and a proposal for recommended work via e-mail. Did receive them. No contemplating recommendation -- proposed work.
