While they were at my house they also serviced my HVAC system and took the time to educate me on how to maintain the mechanical systems in my house. I woke up this morning to no heat. For reference, it was a real feel of about 5 degrees. I called SO many companies, no one even had a tech that could get to me that day. Called Monday am, as we were certainly warm enough to sustain the weekend, and Ryan was at my home by early afternoon. I wish I'd have found Sheaffer Mechanical long ago as I've owned my own house since 1972 and had my share of the usual home owners' problems with plumbing, heating and electrics. However, moving forward, my central air which is over 25 yrs old and has had only minor problems I could fix myself. This time, I could not figure out what was wrong so I thought since my usual plumber has served me well, not 5 star but 4 star, I called them and bit the bullet of cost of coming out and diagnosing fee because I usually like to have at least 3 estimates but the way businesses work these days, estimates for repairs are not cheap. I didn't go with the first company even tho it cost me almost $150.. I kept checking webites, philosophies, prices and found Sheaffer's on Yelp.. I liked what the owner, Ryan, had to say about appliances and that he does not automatically suggest replacing things if they are able to be fixed. The reviews are really great, too. These things stuck in my mind even tho I was not going to invest in replacing the central air but go with window units if the Rheem could not be repaired. I called Sheaffer Mechanical, spoke with Susan, co owner and she was more than helpful so I decided to have a repairman come out, not positive I'd get the unit repaired but I just needed to hear another opinion! I am very, very happy with Troy and his expertise in diagnosing the problem, fixing the problem and giving me a great price. So, for less than what I had to pay the other company to just get here and diagnose, (Part of was which was wrong, too). I had all that plus the fix for less output.. Because I did have to pay the first company and Sheaffer's of course, the repair actually cost me more than if I'd have called Sheaffer in the first place. Now I know!! Gotta go get a sweater!! I would have had nothing but good things to say, but they have ghosted us and I am not sure if they are in business anymore. I left a message on Oct 13th to have them come out and service our furnace. I also sent a message on google, text and email and a following voicemail on October 20th. Still no response as of November 2nd. They have been servicing our heating/air and change our water filters for at least 4 years. We even paid for the extra preferred customer program which they were supposed to help us before new customers. They are great when they respond no complaints for their service. I did notice in December 2022 someone else had a review with issues getting ahold of them and they said to contact them on yelp they respond faster. The yelp messaging is now turned off. They did come out for our water filters after that persons review. I didn't want to have to look for someone else but now have to. read more

Ryan was a great help for me. I reached out to him to get a second opinion on an issue with my furnace that a different company had found. He was very knowledgable and courteous. He showed me step by step what he was doing and what the tests he was performing would accomplish. In the end, he was able to confirm my suspicions and report that my furnace was, in fact, operating just fine, albeit a bit old. He did not try to use any sneaky sales tactics and was just plain honest with me. He also provided some helpful advice with my current system that would hopefully prevent future issues. We just bought a 135 year old house that needs a lot of work. My first, major concern was the boiler. After searching for HVAC technicians online, I found Sheaffer Electric and read all the glowing reviews. I called and set up a time for Ryan to come out. He arrived at the scheduled time and took a look at the boiler. After servicing the boiler, he ran the system to make sure it worked. He also explained the system and how it functions. While he was explaining everything, he spoke to both my husband and myself. This is important to me, as a woman, because so many service technicians focus on the man. Since then, we have had Ryan out a couple more times. Most recently, he was out with John to complete some electrical work. Again, they arrived on time and completed the work in a professional manner. John is equally as knowledgable and professional as Ryan. I cannot recommend Sheaffer Electric enough. I was looking for a HVAC business to do maintenance on both my heater and AC units since it has been a while. There was some issue with my heater going on and off every so often so I called and asked for a quote for yearly maintenance and explained the problem with my heater, Sheaffer quote a very reasonable price for the yearly maintenance and was able to book an appointment within 48 hours. Troy showed up at the appointed time with a ready to help attitude. He was very professional, told me the problem and the cost to fix it. I was pleasantly surprise for such an affordable price for the visit and the services. I couldn't be more satisfied with Schaeffer Mechanical. The quality of their work is excellent as is their customer service. What impresses me the most, however, is their integrity. For example, I will need a new air conditioning unit relatively soon and was torn between nursing the old one along for awhile and buying a new one. Being aware of my concerns about the environment, Troy told me a new and less toxic coolant will be available within the next two years. We have used Ryan and Sheaffer Mechanical for many repairs and installations for HVAC, plumbing, and electrical work. Over the years, Shaeffer Mechanical has grown larger and added personnel. What has not changed is their quality of service. Ryan and/or Susan are quick to respond to requests for service (even on nights. weekends, and holidays) and the work is done on a timely basis for a fair price. We had plumbing problems over the Christmas holidays and Ryan got to us quickly to repair them. We've had fairly numerous issues with our HVAC system but Sheaffer Mechanical has always been able to solve them on a timely basis. Once, when a part was needed to repair our heating system in the winter, Ryan drove 4 hours round trip to get the part quickly so we weren't without heat. I do reviews to help people save money on home improvements and save a few bucks along the way, so this review is sent to numerous rating sites. First off I would like to say these guys were great, making sure we had heat during the cold nights up to replacing two oil tanks. They also made sure all their other customers stayed warm which caused some scheduling changes. My goal is to get the best possible price and have the tech still be able to make good money that's fair to both the company and the customer. We dId hold off on getting the boiler/furnace done at this time due to lack of funds and cost of parts. I would work with them again in the future and would definitely recommend them, mainly because they are one of the few local companies that I've dealt with that genuinely care for their customers and are honest. That's hard to come by these days! That being said the job became overwhelming because of unforeseen circumstances and I was only able to give them 4 out of 5 stars because no written estimate was given before work began. This made things a little confusing on both sides mainly due to the price of materials and labor cost. I received the invoice after the job was completed and Ryan sat down with me and was willing to negotiate the final unforeseen cost. I should have demanded the estimate before allowing them to start the job. I recommend that everyone get an estimate it protects both the customer and keeps the company from losing money. Thank you Ryan and Troy for doing the tanks and working with me. I look forward to working with you again in the near future. Other companies I contacted had a two week wait for just an estimate. Started having central A/C problems spring the recent heat wave. On a weekend. System kept tripping the breaker. I left a msg for Ryan on Saturday night asking if he could come Monday Aug, 15, if the system Hung on through the weekend. We'll it was touch and go, but it kept working as long as it was reset. Ryan returned the call on Sunday and we arranged a time late in the day. Long story short, his response and communication was excellent. He called about 30 minutes before he arrived at the appointed time. He spent almost 3 hours there checking, cleaning and tuning this almost 40 year old unit. I thought I would need a new unit, but he got it working well. I would recommend Sheaffer to anybody. read more

As I tried to reset breakers the power box the main breaker tripped and I could not reset it. Therefore, I was now in a darkening house with no air-conditioning or power. Nothing makes me more anxious than having to call a service when you have no personal references or history with them Well, luckily, thanks to the reviews on Yelp and elsewhere, we called Ryan Sheaffer and wow are we glad we did! We had a problem with a complicated switch that was beyond my hub's capabilities because he tried and we had no lights over the kitchen island. I had no idea how much or to what extent the problem would be to fix but I called Ryan on Thursday and he was here on Friday at 9:00AM as promised. He was super professional, very friendly, talked the problem through with my husband, took his time to answer any questions and fixed it! I wrote him a check that I felt was very fair. Today (Martin Luther King Day) the temperature was in the high 20's and Ferrell Gas just shut off my gas because of a small leak. I called a total of three plumbers and the first two had little to no customer service and one I even hung up on because the receptionist was that rude. I called Sheaffer Electric & Mechanical and right away I spoke to the owner/plumber (Ryan) and he was unbelievably friendly, knowledgeable, and willing to come out today so that our pipes did not freeze.
