WHOA. Just WHOA. Dust to Shine is amazing in a few ways. First and foremost, it is an excellent cleaning service. Everything in my house that I knew it was possible to clean is spotless, neat, and beautiful. The hardwood floors are like new, the carpets are dust-free, and all my counters and tabletops are sparkling. And the bathrooms, oh god, the bathrooms. They look like they could be in a 5-star hotel. Oh, and they also cleaned stuff I didn't even know it was possible to clean! My shower floor is whiter than when I moved in here over a year ago--I thought it came in the old color. I swore Dust to Shine had replaced my oven when they even cleaned the residue that had accumulated on the stovetop over its entire existence! Second, you can tell that Raquel (she's the one with whom I've interacted), and by extension her business, strives for excellence (see previous paragraph). It is absolutely wonderful to come home and see the work of someone who does her work to a level of excellence that we should all strive for in our jobs. WAY TO GO! Third, customer service and ease-of-use is top notch. Raquel texts me when she's coming, and all the payments are done through an easy-to-use web service. Long story short, take photos of everything you own before hiring this company. I've never hired cleaners before but as a new mom, there are some things I just don't have time to get to and decided to bring in some reinforcements. I hired Dust to Shine via Thumbtack and saw that they had very good reviews, I will now come to Yelp when hiring a company because I can see here that I'm not the only one that has had this issue. They did a good job, my house was not all that dirty, I mostly just hired them to clean my windows and oven and dust, the other things were just a plus. I paid a pretty hefty fee for these services. I wouldn't have thought twice about it until I went in my bathroom and found that they used some harsh chemical on my brand new toilet seat that took off a layer of the shine. It is very noticeable and rough compared to the rest of the seat. I bought a $50 toilet seat that had an adult seat and a children's seat for when we start potty training. The only cleaning product I use in my house is Branch Basics and they don't have harsh chemicals that could cause this blemish. I reached out to the woman I scheduled with and she's telling me that her cleaners did not do this when they, in fact, did. Now, I have this special reminder that there is a reason I do all of these things myself: dishonest people that don't take responsibility for the mistakes they make. At least if I mess something up, I only have myself to blame. Do yourself a favor and find a different company. These people just take your money and don't care about what damages they do. Not to mention the inside of my oven smells like whatever insane cleaning product they used that she had me and my daughter leave the room for, so now I'm nervous to even cook anything inside until I run a self clean to burn it all off. read more

I've used Dust to Shine three times in the last 6 months or so. Each time, there have been three different cleaners and each time the outcome is different. The first time, basic cleaning needs were met. They cleaned the bathroom and kitchen (not the oven, refrigerator, or microwave), vacuumed the rugs, and swept the hardwood. The second time, we got a different pair of cleaners (two very nice women) and they exceeded our expectations. They cleaned the baseboards, refrigerator, oven, microwave; fluffed our pillows, organized a few junk drawers with out me asking. This past Monday was the third and final time that we use Dust to Shine. The cleaners (a man and woman) arrived promptly and I gave them a brief outline of what to clean and what not to clean. I arrived home after 90 minutes; the job was finished and the cleaners were gone. Another basic cleaning. Pillows were askew, things weren't put back where they found them but what really pissed me off was what they did to my bath tub (see photo). They used bleach to clean my bathtub and it stained. First of all, I don't like that they used bleach in my 700 square-foot studio. It's been three days and the smell still lingers. On their website they claim the following: "We use mostly products that are safe for children and pets. Every member of our team is trained in cleaning techniques for efficient and spotless results. Check out our list of green cleaning products that will make you home smell good and Shine!" Yet they used enough bleach to stink up my apartment which is not good for the two humans that live here but it's especially bad for our cat. Immediately after I discovered the bathtub, I sent a photo to Dust to Shine and they were very apologetic. They told me the cleaners would come back right away to fix the tub. While I waited for the cleaners to come back, I scrubbed the bath but the stains remained. I did a little research and found that hydrogen peroxide would remove bleach stains from a tub and it did. About an hour later, the cleaner comes back and I turned him away. I asked for a discount and the best they could offer was 10%. I decided not to argue and take my business elsewhere. read more

Finally we have found the perfect fit for our house! These cleaners are the best we have ever had. They paid very special attention to the small details and really impressed us with the final result and all for a reasonable price. Raquel is amazing! Definitely do not recommend this company for services. within the first 15 minutes the cleaning lady was asking me for trash bags and a roll of paper towels to clean with and I asked her why she doesn't have her own cleaning supplies and she said ok just forget it. At this point, feeling very skeptical and this person has a young kid (male) with her. i walk into my bathroom and he is cleaning my tub. now really uncomfortable so called the company back and cancelled my service. for the very high price i was gonna be charged, surely don't want a kid cleaning my house. after the lady left, i went back to my bathroom and noticed that my three huge rolls of bathroom trashbags were missing. coincidence that she asked for trash bags earlier? i don't think so. i called the company to ask her where my rolls were and she said she didn't touch them But to clean my trash can out, the rolls had to be removed. It's a shame that there's companies out there like this. granted they are just trash bags but it's the moral principle. very appalled. chose to clean the house myself. read more

Raquel is wonderful to work with, and the cleaning crew does an excellent job. I had my second cleaning today, and just like the first time my place looks amazing. Horrible experience all due to manager Priscilla. I have had my house cleaned several times and had asked for a few things like cob webs to be removed and dirt around door handles to cleaned/wiped down. I was told that they would not do this even though with this company you pay per hour for cleaning and can request what you would like done during that time. You can never reach Priscilla the manager who handles all booking and cleaning. You can call her 50 times, she will never answer, and she doesn't call back. Additionally I had a set day and time for monthly service with Dust to Shine and the DAY before she wanted to switch me to another time which I was unable to do. She didn't call to discuss or stick with our scheduled time, but instead at 11p the night before she cancelled my service that I've been waiting for all month. In addition she would not return any calls to respond or discuss the situation. Honestly I wanted this to work, really liked the cleaners but Priscilla is unprofessional and seemingly doesn't care to please clientele. All of this was done, even knowing that I was going to increase service needs to bimonthly service in next few months. read more

Not only does Elaine track down all of the dust and leave every surface gleaming, she also goes the extra mile and arranges things more neatly than she found them. I'm always impressed with how she organizes my bathroom toiletries. The house smells and looks like a totally different place after she's done. I also have nothing but great things to say about coordinating with Priscilla and the agency. The custom cleaning online scheduler makes sure you get and pay for only the services you want, and makes it easy to tack on deep cleaning extras when you need them.
