Dishonest. They are liars and use psychopathic psychological tactics to increase their revenue…read more Came in with a check engine light on. They told me to come back another day. That isn't appropriate advice for caring for an engine. They told me a price to repair the car. They increased the price the following day when the car was ready for pickup. They lied about leaving voice mail for me to come get the car, they lied about the price, then they tried to gaslight me about it. They told me that they were unable to get all of the diagnostic codes on the first day and I would have to come back another time to get the rest of the diagnostic codes. They also told me I would have to pay AGAIN to do diagnostics. Why charge $189 for diagnostics if you can't DO COMPLETE DIAGNOSTICS? Do them the fist time! LIARS, CHEATS, and FRAUDS. They told me before doing repairs that it would fix the problem. After they were paid they told me that it might not fix the problem and I would have to come back if it didn't fix the problem. Aren't they supposed to be trained by the car manufacturer in auto repair? They are a Volvo dealership, so one would expect them to KNOW how to repair Volvos. The only things they are good at is lying, cheating, and they are very good at being VERY BAD people AND mechanics. ROTTEN from the top down. They don't know how to fix basic mechanical issues. Not repairing vehicles correctly and fully the first visit seems to be a business strategy to make more money. If they don't fix it the first time, they expect you to come back to them and pay more money on a second trip, perhaps even a third trip. There are only 2 options: they don't know how to repair a basic issue on a Volvo at a Volvo Dealership or they are LIARS, CHEATS, and CONMEN. I would have chosen ZERO stars but that was not an option. They don't deserve 1 star.

There should be a way to filter reviews based on service station or sales because I have never been to their sales department and never purchased a car here, but I think their service department is pretty OK. I needed the transmission fluid changed on my Ford F150 because I thought it might fix a rumble my engine was making. Two well-known service stations said they could not do the job, but Bristol Honda said they would. I had already done some research and they were able to work with me and bring the price down to something I could live with. Most importantly, the problem is fixed For now. And if the rumble comes back, I will likely return to Bristol Honda, and try a few more options to fix it permanently. Based on my experience, I think their mechanics/technicians are very skilled at what they do, and the main reason, I would return to this location. Customer service has also always been very good. I think their customer service and their mechanics Worked well together to communicate Everything I needed to know.

What a wonderful policy to have when it's my family's only transportation. Imagine buying a car or truck outright to be told max care doesn't cover anything and if it does takes you weeks just to get service appointments. Purchased a pick up truck from the Bristol TN Carmax in November 2024 after searching their website…read morefor months to find the exact vehicle I wanted. Absolutely no issues. The vehicle was as advertised. Vehicle and salesman were waiting for me ahead of my appointment. Was also updated by Carmax via text message about my appointment times and the required documentation that I needed to have ready. The transaction was a smooth as I've ever experienced buying many vehicles from traditional dealerships over the decades. No pressure at all to buy, unlike traditional dealerships where you get pushed constantly. Carmax lets you input most if not all of the required information online ahead of time prior to your scheduled visit- this can be done at your home computer, and I even uploaded some documents with a mobile device. The salesman and staff were very honest and helpful during the process, snd help me close the deal smoothly. If you can input your documents online ahead of time and also bring all the required correct, accurate, and up-to-date information with you, you should have no issues with the purchase process. I live out of state and they had the correct out-of-state paperwork there ready to fill out, and even had plates and stickers at the dealership so I could drive it home out of TN. I was in and out of there in less than two hours. I suspect many of the negative reviews come from people who do not have the correct paperwork or documentation, or do not have their finances in order prior to visiting the dealership. This was my first experience at Carmax and has changed the way I will purchase my vehicles in the future, as I will never go back to all that nonsense at a traditional dealership again.
