Look no further!!! You must go here! We were looking for a place to eat and had been walking by this restaurant from our hotel daily. It was always busy and we appreciated the outside seating to enjoy the fall weather. My husband ordered the mini pancakes and I had the pizza. Both were sooooooo good. I honestly didn't expect to like mine but it was very flavorful and it was sooo much for one person and I tried my hardest to eat it all but I just couldn't. I tried the pancakes and they had the right amount of sweetness without needing syrup. The strawberries that came with them were perhaps the freshest and sweetest strawberries I have eaten. The pancake could have been eaten by itself that's how good they were. Our waiter was friendly and attentive even despite being busy with tourists. I'm so glad we gave this place a chance bc now I can say I've had authentic Dutch pancakes! Yumm!

This is a unique pancake experience like no other. There are so many options ranging from savory tasting like their Gerookte Zalm & Roomkaas (Smoked Salmon & Cream Cheese) to sweet like their Aardbeien, Belgische Chcolate and Verse Slagroom. The pancakes are well-done with clear effort made on taste AND design. It's all too clear pancakes don't necessarily need to consist of just syrup, butter, whipped cream, and/or fruit--there's so much you can add all for a unique tasting experience. Beyond the pancakes, their other food options are also well-done. Their Hollandse Erwtensoep Met Brood, Bacon, & Roomkaas (Dutch Pea Soup with bread, bacon, and cream cheese) is well-put together. And of course, who could also not forget their take on Dutch Coffee. Perfectly designed, and made even better with a stroopwafel added to it! The service is adequate as it should, and the environment is uniquely designed to reflect classic Dutch history. Definite recommend to try it out if anyone gets a chance to visit Amsterdam!

This place was pretty busy when we walked by, so we decided to give it a try. Both pancakes were absolutely delicious. I'm not sure how it compares to Amsterdam's other pancake houses, but I was more than happy with both their sweet and savory option! If you haven't had a Dutch pancake, you need to.

My family had no idea what to expect but someone told us we had to try the Dutch mini pancakes. We surprisingly loved the savory pancakes! Food and cappuccino was great. Only reason I knocked off 1 star is because we had trouble paying because we had three different servers bringing our food and refilling drinks. Other than that servers were very nice and the inside is very pretty. Was a great last stop to our trip.

I didn't know what to expect walking into a pancake house, but was pleasantly surprised. DPM has a wide variety is sweet and savory options. We opted for the flat bread style and the mini with chocolate and crunch. I am glad we split these between two people. It's a lot of food. Keep that in mind when you order. The service was good, the staff walked us through the menu options and helped us make our choice. The place was pretty crowded, even at 9 pm, but it wasn't noisy or uncomfortable. We loved the food and whole experience. Would go back for sure.

Located on the Rozengracht, it's super central and easy to get to from just about anywhere in the Jordaan or the Center. * The Atmosphere: It's dark, moody, and has a very cool "late-night" energy. Even if you aren't sure what it is from the street, the vibe inside is unmistakable. * The Food: If you like meat, this is your spot. The burgers are massive and juicy, and the ribs literally fall off the bone. * The Vibe: It's a bit louder and more energetic than a standard restaurant, making it perfect for a night out with a group or a casual date with great cocktails. It gets incredibly busy, so even though it feels like a "hidden" spot from the outside, you'll definitely want to book a table ahead of time. Overall: A total neighborhood win. Don't make the mistake of walking past it for as long as I did!

We entered and seated ourselves, and within 5 minutes, a staff person greeted us, brought us a flask of tap water (tastes great and clean) and two glasses, and gave us menus. We ordered a short rib sandwich for him and a chicken Caesar sandwich for me. These come à la carte but you can add sides if you want. I was glad we didn't because the portion was generous. One thing I've noticed here is that the bread is always high quality--our sandwiches came in baguettes about 8 inches long --I had to cut mine in half to eat it lol. Both were savory and flavorful and satisfying. The meat was tender and well seasoned. We savored every bite! They both had crispy bacon in them as well. Very filling! Just what we needed to energize us after our morning at Keukenhof!

The restaurant itself is well-decorated, clean, and charming, with a small, quaint atmosphere that makes it perfect for a relaxed meal. The food was excellent. The seabass was perfectly cooked, the hot pot was flavorful, and the mussels were enormous--maybe a little too large, but still enjoyable. Every dish felt thoughtfully prepared, and you could tell other tables were enjoying their meals just as much as we were. The only challenge is the restroom access. The staircase leading down is very steep, and I'm not sure if there's an elevator. That said, this is pretty common in Amsterdam's historic buildings and didn't take away from the overall experience. All things considered, I would definitely return to Van Speyk. Great food, great service, and a warm, cozy setting make it a restaurant worth visiting.

It was busy and every table on the quaint (hate this overused word too) outside patio was occupied and two small tables inside. Basically, a snug 'standing room only' cafe. I ordered cappuccino for "take away" from the young female barista who was diligent at the espresso machine. While she was preparing my coffee, I noticed several bags of green and white coffee on the shelves bearing the Mortimer brand name. I asked her, "Was the coffee Italiano ? She said, "Sir, I told you to wait for your coffee"! Whoa, I was taken back for a second, then explained that I only wanted to know the coffee's origin. I stood to the side of the counter and the girl smiled and stated, "I think English beans, It's our brand of coffee". My anticipation for a wonderful cold early morning in Amsterdam just went limp and sadly never improved - This type of attitude is not the norm in Amsterdam which we experienced - but everyone has a bad day from time to time. My two cups of cappuccino were ready, which were oddly small for 4€ (see pic, and you decide). With a knee jerk reaction, I still tipped the girl, grabbed some sugar and coffee cup covers and left the shop. This brief interaction tainted my expectation of this cafe, especially in an area that is tourist heavy. At the end of the day, the cappuccino tasted good, the fresh bread loafs and croissants on the counter looked amazing and their breakfast menu looked promising, but told the wife we will find another cafe around the corner.
