I can understand the mediocre reviews here, in Poughkeepsie ya seem to have to have something superiorly interesting going on in order to make the cut of a 4 or 5 star review, but I personally had a very nice time here. Went to meet up with friends and watch NFL. The game was not the priority at a "Sports Bar". Server was nice and helpful, however the food was average at best. Pulled Pork was definition of average, and came on a basic hamburger bun. Honestly, it is really not a "Sports Bar" or "BBQ" spot, it is a Bar. Went for the first time with a friend to watch a primetime football game When I got there, I noticed they have a couple TVs behind the bar and a carousel of TVs in the center of the dining room that was actually off . There was music playing, and none of the TVs had sports on, except one of them, and there was no volume to listen to the games and they call themselves a sports bar ? The lady was willing to put the volume on until they had a country singer showing up at 8 o'clock the exact time the football game started . I then investigated their social media timeline and noticed they don't advertise any sporting events. They only advertise karaoke and singing and again they call themselves a sports bar.? I asked if they participate in the NFL Sunday ticket and they said no . From there the bright side is, they had a pretty OK beer, selection and liquor selection and the service between the bartender and the waitress was really really great . Unfortunately, the food we ordered there's no other way to describe it but piss poor My brisket sandwich was a solid piece of meat and a very soft mushy roll that if you put your fingers on the top of the bun, it sinks through and you can feel the hot meat My sandwich was the equivalent of the McRib , but that would be insulting the McRib . Fries lukewarm. Then we had to listen to crappy country singer and not hear a single piece of the game . To top it off me and my friend, both contracted flu and felt like shit three days later and still have the flu now as I speak . I find that too coincidental and I'm convinced that the cook probably had something. I don't think the food is handled with good quality or care probably not wearing gloves in the back or care if they're sick or not, and clearly passed it on. More importantly, don't call yourself a sports bar if you're not having sports specials or participating in things like the NFL ticket that regular bar is invest in just call yourself a bar call yourself barbecue or a shitty barbecue... It's been a pretty long time since my last visit. I was craving bbq and figured we would give this place a try. I don't remember being unhappy with the food and it was in the area. I tried to order food online but the options weren't consistent with their online menu so I called the order in. We ended up ordering a pulled pork meal and 1/2 rack of ribs. Each plate came with two sides. The pulled pork was delicious and the ribs were pretty good too. We didn't really detect a smokey flavor but the meat was tender and tasty. The portion was also pretty large. We had left overs for the next day. Overall, the food was great! I've had bbq that was a bit better but I definitely wasn't disappointed. My husband and I chose to try this place for a quick date night. I had a drink that the waitress/bartender recommended, Kraken, it was SPOT ON. I got the 1/2 a jerk chicken, plantains and corn bread. My husband got the brisket, mac and cheese and corn bread. The chicken was good, not too much of a kick (which I like) and good flavor, plantains were great, corn bread wasn't bad either. I drove an hour and a half to play poker and support the venue. I ordered a ruben, 2 drinks, and a coffee. I was only able to eat 1/2 of the sandwich and the staff behind the bar put my sandwich in a tin and placed it behind the bar while I played poker. When I was ready to leave, I went to get my food only to not see it. I asked about my food and was told, they don't know what happened, they gave it to someone else, and there was nothing they could do. I paid for a full sandwich, only ate 1/2 and they gave away my food without asking, and refused to compensate me in any way. Normally when I go to play poker I bring at least 3 other people. I will never bring anyone here after this experience, and I will spread this experience to everyone I play poker with and warn them about spending money at a place that thinks it's ok to give away your food and not take any responsibility. Came for lunch on a Saturday around noon. No one was there so I got nervous but boy was I wrong. The food here was amazing! The fried shrimp is so flavorful and juicy. The ribs fell off the bone so tender and so much grill flavor. The Dutchess was moist and the cheese pull was outrageous. I'll definitely be back anytime I'm craving some delicious bbq. So on my adventure of trying new places I came across this place to share with all, so let's start off with we ordered the ultimate sampler that had some wings and shrimp as well as ribs it wasn't bad I asked for the wing flavor to be garlic parm but was more like a Italian dressing but wasn't to bad, then I ordered there brisket when I got the mashed potato they where piping hot like they came out the microwave but where not to bad as I went to try the brisket and it was terrible it was old so I asked the waitress how old it was and was told that they made it the night before but was frozen and as you can see in picture this was older then the night before I go to other places and when the brisket comes out it pink with a nice smoke ring, on the other plate we got there pulled pork and the same it did not taste good at all and seemed to be old as well, if you look at the pictures you can see how they looked, I probably will not come here agin. read more

We ordered TO-GO the sampler (ribs, shrimp, and wings), the brisket dinner, and jerk chicken dinner. We also ordered an additional two sides; mac & cheese and beans. Starting the review on the sampler: it wasnt huge but the (3) ribs were delicious. Very tender and pretty juicy. We tried the garlic parmesan wings which were ok. Not overly flavorful or dry but kind of sad that we only received 2.5 wings. I guess thats acceptable to them to serve the nub part of a drumstick only. The (3) shrimp were nicely seasoned. All of the proteins lay on top of greasy wilted lettuce. The brisket dinner wasnt bad but the sides were here nor there. The collards were unfortunately too sour/vinegary for our taste. We were hoping for a more savory flavor. The mash and gravy was decent. The brisket itself was pretty tender and flavorful. The jerk chicken wasnt bad either. This meal, we also ordered sweet potato fries and collards. The sweet potato fries were bland and lacking in seasoning. The collards, again, too sour. The additional sides (mac & cheese and beans) were the BIGGEST disappointment. Being charged $5 per additional side, the portions were extremely tiny and laughably overpriced. The mac lacked flavor and was gritty in texture in certain parts most likely due to how they melted the cheese to coat the pasta. The beans were passable. Overall, the proteins are cooked nicely and seasoned well. Majority of the sides were lacking and left wanting. Spending $10 on 3 bites of bland mac and boring beans kills the meal for us. How do they charge so much for something small and mediocre is beyond me. I'm not entirely sure if this is a place we would venture out to again. Ordered through Grubhub, for delivery estimated 37-52 minutes and arrived more than 90 minutes after placing the order. Only received an email that 2 of our entrees were cancelled (apparently they ran out of brisket). My assumption was that they must be really busy and brisket must be amazing - well after eating the food, impossible. This is by far the worst bbq I've ever eaten. Corn bread, Chicken tenders, Mac and cheese, ribs, wings, fries, pulled pork - all horrible! There is no way anyone has eaten more than once at this place. Was looking forward to having a BBQ restaurant close to home, but doubt this place is staying in business much longer. Just had dinner here for the first time (and last time). The brisket was so-so. The corn bread was dry and flavorless. The a/c wasn't working on this 90 degree day. The chicken and pulled pork were dry, not tasty. The mac and cheese side (perfect last time) was inedible, the cheese seemed to have turned. There was no cornbread. If it wasn't for our prior great experience, I would be giving 1 star now. I would be happy to revise this review in the future (if they return to a better food quality). They say that insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. That's my situation with ordering deliver from Dutchess BBQ. Since some of their items (brisket and chicken wings) are good, their BBQ ribs have consistently been overcooked to the extreme which they try to hide with the amount of sauce they put on them. I decided to try their flaken instead of ribs (I haven't had flaken since my mother used to make it 40 years ago). When we arrived (a party of four) there was one couple at a table and two people at the bar, yet when we placed a drink order (beer, not a complicated thing) and there was no attempt at filling it after fifteen minutes. When we asked what was going on, we were told (with a straight face) that they were understaffed that night. Now how understaffed do you have to be not to manage a house of eight patrons (six really, the couple at the table had left)? my wife and i ordered dinner on a Friday night. it came in a very reasonable amount of time (40 minutes) . the food was hot and packaged well. i took a bite of the brisket i ordered it was super tender and juicy ( although under seasoned) this is where things went down hill .. we ordered a whole chicken ($17) it weighed 1,25 lb cooked it looked like a capon. had been way over cooked and once again needed seasoning . the baked beans tasted like bushes brand the portion was small less than a 1/2 pint container for $5.50 green beans were either canned or over cooked fresh, portions small also less than 1/2 pint also. mac and cheese was ok a bit boring . i had ordered a steak med rare it came super thin and grey all the way through. so all in all $80 spent on food brisket was the only thing cooked well . sad i had heard good and bad things and hoped the good was the way it would go. for a place that has mastered brisket it is a cring shame they cant cook a chicken or a steak read more
