Here's a Father's Day review: They were kind enough to seat us, but they have really odd hours, especially for Father's Day -- arguably the BIGGEST day of the year for BBQ. We arrived at 3:50 p.m., and they told us that they were closing in 10 minutes. Yikes. A family that arrived after us was turned away. I could see the deep disappointment in their eyes. I can only guess that BEAST doesn't want the business. Again, this was during the afternoon on one of the busiest BBQ days of the year. I.E. This wasn't some slow, late, and empty night. It was a sunny afternoon, and Fishkill's Main Street was hopping and vibrant. The staff did allow us to eat our meal, though, and didn't kick us out, but they were itching to close up shop. I guess they all have better things to be doing. (?) The food was, well, "okay" but overly pricey. The smoked wings are good here. I'll give them that. I would only get those if I ever came again (though the blue cheese dressing was weak). The other food (brisket, sausage, and mac n' cheese) was not poor, but it was also not memorable. Maybe a "C" grade all around? It's a neat spot for drinks (good spirits selection) and wings if you're in the neighborhood and they're open. Sooooooo gooooooood! My friend lives nearby & suggested we come here for the brisket nachos, and she wasnt wrong. The pork belly was smoked and delicious, but it must have also been put on the flat top and griddled as it had a crunchy exterior and was so hot and satisfying! The pickled vegetables were crunchy and delicious. My wife had the brisket chili w/fritos. Huge chunks of brisket and great flavors. I ended with a half pound of brisket as that's the great leveler. We stopped in for their late night happy hour after eating at Dutchess Biercafe. At 9 it was still really busy outside but quiet inside. It's a small space, but it's cozy. They had ductless a/c units on the wall, but I'm not sure they were running because it was still quite hot inside. Our server was quick to tend to us and very friendly. They have a great tap list, much like Dutchess, only theirs is lager-centric rather than Belgian. Exactly what you want with some BBQ. You can't beat the 50% off price tag at happy hour either. We also decided to share some of the crispy ribs. The rib was cooked perfectly. Perfectly tender, but still holding its shape. Was super pleasantly surprised by Beast. 3 of us searched for a place for late brunch on Sunday after morning apple picking at nearby fishkill farms. We promptly grabbed a table outside , and were convinced to try brisket and pulled pork. I opted for loaded pulled pork nachos topped with eggs sunny side up. My friends both got brisket sandwiches. We started with an order of crispy chicken wings with gochuchang . Everything came out fast, piping hot , and most importantly full of flavor ! I slept on this place for a long time, but today we were driving by and hungry so we stopped in. Super cool vibes and extra friendly staff made my 1st impression very positive. Plenty of room to sit at the bar or at a table - we sat at the bar. Bartender carried the good attitude and was on point when giving the specials. We both ordered drinks - myself an Old Fashioned and my date a margarita. Both drinks were REALLY good. That bartender definitely puts the love in. The food was out super quick- we both got the pastrami sandwich. The sandwich fell out of heaven and on to my plate! The pastrami was extremely tender with a hint of smoke - the bark on it was perfect. The kraut and sauce on it was the perfect combination for a masterpiece of a sammie. One may think $20 may be a bit on the high side for a sandwich, but it was HUGE and half came home, so no regrets! Got home from eating at Beast and wondered for a brief moment if I should turn around and go back -- it was THAT GOOD. I had the chicken wings, which were probably the best I've ever had. They had a nice assortment of sauces, but for me, the best was their "special sauce." (Although the buffalo sauce was also excellent and packed a lovely punch). I got the wings with the dry rub, although you have other options if you want a different flavor. There's a special on wings Wednesday nights, so I'm thinking I'll be there weekly... Because I remembered I should probably eat some vegetables, I had a side salad with green goddess dressing. Fresh salad and the dressing was excellent. My partner got the chicken sandwich, which also had the special sauce I used on my wings. She said it was "out of this world" (part of that may have been influenced by the curly fries she had on the side). Regardless, there was nothing left on either of our plates by the time we left. The place is small, so on a Saturday night we ended up sitting at the bar --which was actually kind of neat. It meant we got to talk with some of the servers, who were all super nice and helpful. Very disappointed in the food and the service. The beer served was room temperature, at most, and not cold at all. Ordered a "seltzer" and found out it was really a "juice" with a very high sugar content. The wings we ordered (6 dry rubbed and 6 Alabama white sauce), were overcooked and very dry and the Alabama sauce was really aioli, not Alabama sauce at all. This is our first time coming to The Beast since opening. We love the Dutchess Bier Cafe, so we have high expectations for this place since they shared the same owner. It's walking distance from DBC and in an old town hall building. The inside is smaller than how it seems from the outside, but offers plenty of seating. Large bar with very comfortable seats which takes up half of the space, the other half are for sit-down dining. They will have more seating outdoors when the weather is warmer. We came here on a Saturday for a late lunch as party of 4. We sat at the bar for a round of drinks while waiting for a table. The bartender was very sweet and welcoming and they had a nice selection of draft beer on tap. Not as many as DBC, but still plenty to keep you happy. DBC only serves beer and wine, but here they offer a full bar for mixed drinks/cocktail. We did not have one but the drink menu looks nice and we will next time! For food, they were offering their brunch menu which had plenty of yummy stuff to choose from. The menu is BBQ based; We ordered the brisket omelette, brisket sandwich, and BLT. I really enjoyed my omelette, it was topped with a creamy sauce which made the omelette even more scrumptious. Every one of us cleaned our plate, so I would say that's a win! I stopped at Beast last weekend on Saturday. I loved everything that we tried Bao Buns, wings with the habanero sauce, and the pork belly banh mi. All were delicious!! They offer mainly European Beers, which it not typically what I would gravitate towards but I had a refreshing lager. While at the bar one of the bartenders was raving about their Sunday Brunch so I returned the next day for Brunch! The mimosas are a good size so that's a win! I had the Banana Fosters Pancakes which were huge and delicious. I think the bananas could have been cooked a bit more but aside from that everyone in my group was happy with their food.
