FIRST place I go when I'm in town. Last meal level of excellent. I don't know what constitutes a Michelin star but they've earned it in my heart. Hands down the most consistently lovely experience. I've had one of every pie and all of them are top notch. The crust is crazy good, flakey and buttery and perfect. The owner will accuse me of being rude and having a "tone". I was supposed to listen to her going on and on with the same abrasive tone she accused me of having. If I tried to speak at all that is rude??? This was after her daughter hung up on me without even letting me complete a sentence. So I called back and the owner answered. I bought two $5 scones that turned out to be baked yesterday and were cold and hard from being kept in the refrigerator. According to the owner **I** was supposed to ask if they were fresh, or cold, or needed to be warmed up. It was all on me to find out. Really??? I wasn't supposed to assume they were fresh. Seriously?? It's a bakery. The **common and accepted practice** for a bakery is to sell "day old" baked goods as just that.....day old, and for a slightly lower price than same day freshly baked. Customers are supposed to know that they are buying a day old product and not same day fresh. The fact that they are selling a product and not selling it as day old is dishonest. Why would a customer be *expected* to ask if the scones are fresh? And one wonders how many days they would continue to sell those same refrigerated and old scones? I have purchased from their stand at the Beacon Farmer's Market many times and loved it. The young man who I buy from is great, always friendly and nice. The woman, who I assume is the owner is a horrible, rude woman. She went on a tirade about how I was supposed to find out if the scones were fresh, just on and on and on, and about how rude I was and my "tone". In her opinion the customer is always wrong. Awful person, obviously on the defensive. What a horrible way to run a business and a horrible and unprofessional way to interact with a customer. Just an awful woman. Here's a little tip....if you let the customer speak, finish a sentence and listen to them rather than not allowing them to speak they might not have that "tone". As soon as I tried to speak I was "rude", simply because I was speaking and not listening to her tirade. This woman is the rudest and most hostile business owner I have encountered. Oh.....I also bought a pie....that I just looked at. I specified apple and strawberry. The box is labeled apple and strawberry but the pie inside is blueberry. And the bottom crust is not done. read more

The inside of the shop was cramped and the service was very... casual. At first, I couldn't tell if the person I was speaking to even worked there. The Guinness pie was okay. The beef was good, but I did not find the crust to be very flaky or tender. I was not a fan of the flavor of the sausage roll. read more

This a cute little shop with three tables. The service by Yaya could not have been friendlier. This is such comfort food! The whole experience is a thumb's up! This place is incredible! The food is amazing and the people are wonderful. It really does feel like you stepped into a little piece of England. There are a couple tables to sit and eat at if you choose, or you can also take things cold to go to warm up at home. The sausage rolls are MAD! They're sooo good. Crisp, flaky pastry stuffed full of perfectly seasoned pork. I also tried the steak and Guinness pie which was incredible. Huge chunks of tender beef in a lovely gravy. Perfection. Braised Pies - Sausage roll and pie - British Near Me - Wappingers Falls, New York

When I was researching Places for food in the Wappinger Falls area, I was immediately intrigued by Braised Pies because the name was new to me. BP is predominantly a British style meat pie business. They have hand helds, as well as traditional chicken pot pie shapes. Sweet pies seem to be less of a focus. There was some inside and outside seating, but BP seems more like a working kitchen and production facility. They had a small team of people getting things together. No customers ate there while we were at BP. I'm not clear on the normal production flow. We arrived around noon on Thursday and they are closed on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. So we caught them early in their work week and they were still getting things together. They mentioned that they were getting ready to bring things to markets they participate in. There were four different types of handhelds that had been fully cooked, but needed re-heating. I ordered a Steak Pie with rutabaga and they heated it for me. I also asked about a chicken pot pie, which I did not see. They told me they weren't ready yet, but they could assemble one for home baking in about 10 minutes. I ordered a chicken pot pie too and cooked it later at our airbnb. They even gave me an egg for the recommended egg wash. Both pies were terrific. Maybe the best I've had for this style. The fillings had great quality ingredients, texture and savory flavor. The crust of the handheld was amazing. It had some thicker parts, which I enjoyed. The chicken pot was more of a traditional thin round crust sitting over the pot pie filling, but it was very good too. I loved the food. The people were very nice! You may want to go a bit later in the day, on Thursday at least, to give them time to get everything ready. 5 Stars read more

We stopped in on a whim on a Friday evening. We tried two small personal pies and two handheld pasties. The traditional Shepard's Pie made with lamb was a standout. Just delicious. They have a dessert selection as well. But, from what we tried, savory is really where they shine. The shop is small and designed to grab and go. If they don't have what you're craving in the display, it's worth asking what will be coming out of the oven next. Lets start with the basic. I love Cornish Pastys and Sausage Rolls. We were at the Pawling Famers Market where Braised Pies had a booth set up. I got a both a sausage roll and a cornish pasty. Have not eaten the pasty yet but the sausage roll was HEAVEN. Delicious. Nice people working the booth also which makes it all the better. What a fun little trip! It's just a little bitty shop but the allure of a possible "Sweeney Toddesque" adventure was enough to draw me in the door. My hubby and I decided to pop into this shop for lunch and we were greeted very warmly by the owner. The pies were delicious (Shepard pie and chicken pot pie) and the baked good are decadent. Six family members drove to meet at this delightful tiny shop. We were greeted at the counter by a Yaya, a cheerful woman who immediately knew everyone's names and took good care of us. We ordered the hand pies, which came in about 12 varieties. They were all delicious. I had the chicken tiki and others had the lentil and potato pie, the Cornish pie (beef and veg), steak and ale pie, a scone, and a chicken pot pie. We ordered coffee which came in a full French press, and hot tea, which came in a great big pot which we could share among ourselves. For dessert we had an enormous serving of sticky toffee pudding with butterscotch sauce, vanilla cake in a custard sauce, and a Nutella dessert with cream. While the menu items may seem expensive, the servings are enormous and the food was very good. I took half of mine home as did most of us. They even had a small selection of British grocery items, including fabulous chocolate bars, which you normally cannot get in the US. My friend and I stopped here after seeing a play at the local theatre. This shop was so unique and charming! I had a cornish pastie with traditional tea, and my friend had a curry pastie. I was passing by Wappinger Falls and looking for new food places to check out and stumbled upon Braised Pies. The pies were definitely freshly made as you had to wait a little for it to be prepared. I ordered 3 pies to try, the chicken and mushroom, chicken pot pie, shepherds pie and a sausage roll and beef and potato pastry. I must admit, I did not know the small pies would be $20 a piece and I tend to like to try variety so I ended up spending almost $90 for everything. The flavors were pretty good for everything although I thought the creamy mushroom and chicken was on the saltier side and the sausage roll was oily (as expected it's made of sausage). I did think it was a bit overpriced. However, very friendly owners. read more

Wow! This newcomer is a great addition to Main Street in Wappingers. Braised Pies, a savory English Baked pies shop with fresh eats. Quite a big menu, for such a small shop. We orders the " Scouse" a 6 inch pie of Lamb Stew with carrots, turnip and potatoes covered by a buttered pastry crust. It was finger liking good. You can have it gluten free if you want. The other one Mushrooms and Spinach was as good. They also offer some Sausage rolls wrapped in a puff pastry. They have daily specials. Take out only, the two young guys running the place, could not have been any nicer explaining about their pies. We will definitely go back and try others.
