A very good friend recommended this restaurant to us and we were excited to try it. I love seafood! We were warmly greeted and sat immediately due to our reservation. Our server was knowledgeable and professional. She welcomed us, explained the menu and quickly brought brought water and lemons for the water. She was fantastic throughout the meal and made our experience wonderful. We ordered French onion soup and a "special" of fried green tomatoes for our appetizers. Complimentary, fresh, warm, honey-wheat bread with both regular and cinnamon sugar butters, was brought to the table. The bread had a very nice texture. The French onion soup was very delicious and not too sweet! It was perfectly balanced. The fried green tomatoes were fresh and the breading was perfectly crispy. However the "seasoning" was in the mildly spicy remoulade, which was served on the side. We also ordered a broiled seafood platter with sides of broccoli and twice baked potato. The hubs ordered char-grilled pork chops, grilled asparagus, and potato au gratin. Everything was perfectly cooked and tasty. We really enjoyed everything. Regarding ambiance, the dining room looks a bit formal with its white table cloth and dim lighting. However, everyone dressed casually - jeans, shorts, etc. This made for a very relaxed atmosphere. I heard that this restaurant was nice inside and had a very good Sunday buffet brunch. Called for a reservation around 11:30 am and got a table for 12:45pm. I am so glad we came. The building is large with plenty of parking. It has a medieval-vibe from the outside, although there's a plaque inside the front door saying the building was built in 2000. Once inside, it's fairly dark and continues with the old-mansion type atmosphere. There are lots of items hanging from the walls, older portrait photos, chandeliers, etc. very cool space. We were told at the front desk to go upstairs for the brunch (there is an elevator!). Once upstairs, we were greeted and sat in a corner table for two. The placement of the table was perfect, as there were a lot of families there for brunch, and I felt like we were being given an opportunity for more quiet. I noticed that the layout of the room placed tables for two and other smaller tables toward the outside. The server greeted us warmly and explained where things were and invited us to get started. The food: outstanding. The crab dip was thick from cheese and full of crab. The Maryland crab soup (didn't try the cream one) was full of crab and veggies, and the broth was flavorful. The salad was fresh, the chicken and salmon were both well prepared and delicious and the crab omelette was full from crab. There's also the traditional breads, eggs, potatoes, bacon and sausage. They all looked good, but I didn't take them seriously with all the other foods there. I went to get prime rib snd was given a huge piece freshly sliced. Outstanding. The outside was seasoned perfectly and the inside was moist and flavorful. You can get creamy horseradish, horseradish alone and au jus, which you serve yourself. The desserts included some pies (including key lime), cooked apples, brownies and there's fresh fruit at the salad bar. Service: Outstanding. Our server kept our water glasses, iced tea snd coffee filled and took our plates promptly. Bloody Mary - was $1 and I think it's a darn good Bloody Mary. Not fancy, but tasty. We came here looking for a new place to go for buffet brunch. We live over a half hour away, but do plan to come back for other occasions. It's a nice atmosphere with a very classy vibe, but good for families. Everybody seemed to be having a good time and enjoying themselves. And the service was excellent. The brunch ain't cheap (it's $46.95 per person), but there's outstanding prime rib, a real crab dip and two types of legit crab soups, along with other entrees (the salmon was so soft and flavorful - I was jealous because I can never get mine with such great texture), as well as traditional breakfast fare and a salad bar. Coming by here due to positive reviews and the need for an early dinner after the half-way point of a long drive, I ordered their French onion soup and their chicken parmigiana with fettuccine pasta. Both were excellent and the chicken parmigiana was a large size. It also came with twice-baked potato and a Caesar side salad as well as complimentary bread. All of good quality. The bread with cinnamon butter was really good too. If you want the lobster you have to order Dutchs seafood platter instead of the regular seafood platter. That's a mistake I made. The seafood platter was disappointing for the price point. Paid $72 and the shrimp was ok, good size tho. The crab cake was average. Get tartar sauce for it. The imperial crab was really good tho. This place values service above all else. I read about it and was concerned the food would be bland but the food was great! 7 of us went for dinner and had a wonderful experience. Our waiter John was on point and provided excellent service. Initially I was also concerned as the lighting is on the dim side but I soon forgot about it as it seemed to help your own table focus on your immediate surroundings. Stopped by today at exactly 10AM for the brunch. The host was very friendly and we got seated right away. Our waiters, was so welcoming and attentive. Checking often and asking if we were okay with drinks frequently. The food was very tasty! Crab meat omelette, cream of crab, prime rib perfectly cooked to your liking. Chicken fingers covered in deli ham smothered in gooey cheese with asparagus on top. Sounds good maybe if the chicken were prepared somewhat specially and not tough. Deli ham? You're kidding right? And the cheese; maybe it was American cheese spread or cheese whip. But the asparagus was nicely done. And it came with a twice baked potato and veggies that I would rate good. But the bad out weights the good. Preceding this was a forgettable salad of iceberg lettuce, carrots, and croutons. The best part of the meal were the rolls and butter and the water. Husband and I came here, for the first time, on a Sunday for their brunch. We also ordered two mimosas. Balance came out to approximately to $100 (including tip). What's hot - Quality. Delicious. Everything that we tried was a good flavor and not overly seasoned. This included their prime rib, chicken, eggs (with and without crab), crab soup, potatoes, rolls, and desserts. Their prime rib is nicely seasoned, especially at the ends, and not too salty. Their eggs are soft and tender. Their soup is a nice consistency and has plenty of ingredients (I.e., it's not just liquid broth). Their desserts, particularly their bread pudding, is soft and tender, and not too sweet, which we appreciated. - Menu. Very good variety. There appears to be something for everyone, possibly even vegans. For example, they have a salad buffet as part of their brunch, and vegetable pasta. I really like the selection of seafood (primarily crab) as part of their buffet brunch. - Layout. They have an elevator to accommodate customers who need physical assistance. Inside appears to be pretty spacious with a high ceiling. My husband and I really appreciate that sound does not travel easily and we can have a conversation between us. - Service. Reservations are encouraged, which they explain on their website. As such, I called ahead for a reservation. I originally did not leave a time for my reservation, when I left my message. As such, they called me to confirm what time I would like. They also called me the night before, to confirm my reservation. The day we arrived went very smoothly. Their staff appear to all work very well together, are well-coordinated, and work very smoothly. Anything we asked for was provided in literally a couple of minutes. We were not left waiting. As another example, my husband asked their staffer, who was in charge of their prime rib carvery, if he could get a couple of slices that are more well done. Their staffer obliged nicely, had a couple slices sent to the kitchen to be grilled a little extra, and brought us the slices with their horseradish cream. Whenever a table was finished, I saw the table cleaned very soon afterwards and set up again. During the time we were there, I rarely saw an empty table just sitting there with dishes and food. I'm definitely impressed with their service. - Parking. There is a decent size parking lot in front, which is helpful. - Price. Price to value ratio for their weekend brunch is excellent. Drinks include tea, coffee, sodas, and juice. Mimosas are only an extra $1. What's not - Quality. Some of their foods were not very warm and you could taste the lack of freshness, like their buns, garlic bread, and a few other dishes. That appears to be the tradeoff for a buffet. - Price. Their regular menu appears pretty pricey. For example, their buffet brunch, which includes prime rib, is approximately $43. A prime rib dinner alone is approximately $70. - Location. This is an hour drive for us, so it's inconvenient. If we return, it would be for their brunch only, because of the price to value ratio. First of the service was phenomenal. I was in a large party and the waitress was very charismatic and attentive. The ambience seems to be pretty hit or miss. The first time we went, it felt like we were placed in a dungeon (the basement) and there were lots of tvs everywhere). That felt far too casual for such an expensive establishment. The second time, however, we were sat on the main floor and the decor felt much fancier. Both times I had the orange roughy with a ceasar salad and a twice baked potato. I would definitely recommend it, especially the potato. In my opinion, the prices are way too high for the food that they serve. Went for lunch on Saturday with two friends. Dutch's has two dining rooms, a formal and casual. We chose the casual and we're not disappointed. The Dungeon is a really comfortable bar and dining area located downstairs. Our server was personable and attentive. The menu had great selections, something for everyone and we were happy with our choices. Near the completion of our meal, we asked our server if she could take our picture. We told her that we had served in Vietnam together and we had not been together since 1969. She took our picture and then informed us that our check would be taken care of by the house. Our friends wanted to treat us to lunch and took us to Dutch's Daughter. This was such a stately and elegant restaurant. What was most enjoyable was the quiet atmosphere. It was so nice to be able to sit and talk and actually be able have a conversation without having to raise our voices. As the British would say, "It was so civilized." The dining room was quite beautiful. The Sweet Potato muffins were to die for - I could have made a meal out of them. We enjoyed the Crab Cake sliders with onion rings, Dutch's Burger with onion rings, Cobb Salad with Chicken, and an Oyster Sandwich with Sweet Potato Wedges. The only disappointment was that the Cobb Salad had anchovies in it - not a pleasant surprise! When I mentioned it to the waiter, he did not offer to take it back to the kitchen. For dessert, we shared a huge Snapper Ice Cream Pie. Three in our party ordered coffee, and we were surprised that our server never offered any refills. My favorite dish to order is the crab imperial. They have two sizes for it, which I like. I also regularly order the crab imperial with a steak.
